P&S is great because Matt brings on guests and let's them tell their stories and opinions. No ego, just knowledge swapping with dudes who have been at it longer than most "influencers" have been alive.
I like the P&S shows. I often wonder why there is so much confusion about the shotgun, how it works, and how it is used. I like to understand why. I grew up on the shotgun as a small child and migrating to an 870 as soon as I had the arm strength. I had to cut down the wood stocks and make new stocks to match my tiny body, 55 pounds in the 8th grade. I understood the ergonomics of a shotgun that is too big, and recoil management was a must, pull-pull. Avoiding injury by avoiding energy absorption into the skin, fat, and muscle was a must. I had a perfect experience base to understand the needs of female Police Officers. The engineers for the military taught me well, and some smart Deputies helped me along. I think that much of the confusion is due to a lack of understanding of how the shotgun works: the action, internal ballistics, and external ballistics. I came to later realize that very few people ever had the chance to learn from firearms engineers. We had to describe each part and show how every feature had a purpose. We had to explain every reason why the engineers did that as case studies. That is not normal, but it was so helpful.
Very good watch, would definitely like to hear a part 2... Especially if Steve and Cody are gunna talk patterning.
I'd also like to hear Cody speak on if the Vang porting actually makes the gun louder, because it sounds like he was saying it wasn't too bad (or was that only with a suppressor?)

1:53:00 Streamlight has the RM2 light which is the same slanted button style as the Inforce, but in aluminum and assuming it's far better in output. Still might be an issue with the crossbolt they use and if that could come lose over time with recoil. Great talk, super helpful. Thanks!

Having taken Steve's class recently I'm inclined to agree with his assessment on stock length. I'd originally put my mossberg together from a stripped receiver, so I bought the shorty Hogue stock without ever using a larger one. It was okay, but definitely let me know it was there. This parts kit gun naturally started malfing the day before class so I switched to my backup, my brother's full-stocked gun I'd borrowed, and there genuinely is something to the extra leverage and balance to it. I'm also a 6-foot and wide person, so I still think the small stocks have a place on smaller people, but I don't think they're a universal solution

Shotgun newbie here. Had one day of "shotgun instruction" pre Covid, which was mostly supervised drills. Just picked up a new 940 Tactical for some instruction later this year. Idea for the next shotgun episode: Slings on shotguns.
I've got what feels like a less than ideal setup on my 870 and I'm scratching my head on this new 940. Could use some pointers for sure.

I am a little confused with the Benelli shotgun issues. A starting point is that the Benelli inertial shotguns require a pull-pull technique. The Benelli inertia semi-auto shotguns and the pump shotguns need the pull-pull technique. The Benellis need pull-pull to cycle the bolt, and the pump shotguns need pull-pull to prevent injuries due to out of battery issues during a hangfire.
I know that some instructors teach push-pull. That is fine. Some shotguns were purposefully designed for pull-pull by the engineers. I've taught people how to use the Benelli M1 since the late 80's and with pull-pull it works well with even the lightest loads, big men or tiny women and children. The engineers aren't dumb, but the Owner's Manuals don't do a good job at explaining recoil management. The attorneys don't want the inertial unlocking systems explained for the action bars or even the bolts. Those facts are even left out of the training classes for Police Officers, one less potential way to be sued. Attorneys and judges are not well known to understand firearms.
The m1 had issues discovered early on once sidesaddles and flashlight forends were used it had zero to do with push pull or pull pull and some various types of ammo i have taught on them as well and it was also addressed by benelli
