NOTE: Worth saying that after the 3 yrs and 20,000 miles on a chain driven bike, I may now be looking at chain /sprockets, as opposed to less that a litre of oil 👍👍.
Thanks for the content Graham. Did my crosstourer earlier this year. One of the beauties of these bikes is being able is home service. They're relatively easy to work on with minimal electronics.
Hi Graham. Definitely one of the easier maintenance tasks to carry out on the bike. At the time of doing mine, I was surprised how little gear oil the final drive actually needed, to bring it up level with the bottom of the fill hole. Reassuring to get it done. Take care.
I had exactly the same thought David , when I did it first time, I was worried it had lost some, till I checked how little 200cm3 is. Obviously things are packed in quite tightly in that axle housing. 👍
Hi Graham yeah i did mine when i got the bike two years ago will do it again when i do engine oil and filter early next year find with the shaft drive the rear end off the bike is a lot cleaner ie no fling from the chain on my 2 750 vfrs both have chain oilers fitted both work well but have two wipe the wheel down after a ride beauty off shaft drive maintence free just change oil regular .
Especially nice when you have bright silver wheels, no worries about them getting soaked in chain fling. Makes cleaning after a ride easier too, as your cloth /sponge etc, dosent snag on chain 😊

Yes, at first glance you imagine them as complicated (obviously the F has extra bodywork), but you are right.. Not bad at all for home maintenance 👍
