- Today we take a look at what is apparently the 5 worst things about PC gaming. But as we all know these video never go well and this one is no different. Console peasants continue their practice of trying to degrade the benefits of PC gaming so here I am to defend as always.

He means generic 8 to 9 hour cover shooter with little to no replay value for full retail price. No thanks, I don't want that shit on the PC. The games I want is Total War Medieval 2 where I can spend hundreds of hours in grand campaign or even thousands of hours total which engages me with every moves I make.

I played through The Last of Us seven times since the release in 2013. One of the greatest gaming experiences I ever had. And its a 14-16 hours game, not 8.

The main issue with the console/PC arguments is console gamers tend to hate the PC gamers, not the PC. The PC gamers hate the closed nature of the consoles with the weak hardware and generally only hate the console gamer when there's a valid non gaming related reason, like when they act like jaytech.

somewhatagamer Its because we have beautiful side panel windows (or silent designed cases). Why would we let dust buildup hinder performance if we had the OPTION not to. Pretty sure if you cracked open a ps4 the warranty would be void. (Though its been that long since the ps4 released that probably everyones warranties have become void)

Even according to his logic, we have the Arma franchise, an AAA PC exclusive, but honestly, AAA games are getting boring (even when i do play big-name AAA games, they are older ones, like CoD 2 or CoD 4.) I payed $5 for Mount & Blade: Warband on the 2015 Steam Winter sales, and I have gotten over 250 hours in that game. These "AAA" games tend to be boring games that are a re-skin version of last years games with prettier graphics. After 10 hours, all joy of most AAA games for me, is drained.
Cayson tf2 is on 7th gen consoles through the Orange box. even csgo is on the console. But those games are incredibly outdated unlike on the PC (not sure if it's a good thing since people like the originals better but then again you can probably find a downgraded version online)
Several of those games you just listed are on consoles, I can play TF2 on my PS3.

Yesterday, I bought an Xbox 360 wired controller to play Skullgirls with my little sister without me using the keyboard. Believe it or not, my PC did not explode from the outrageous act of plugging in the 360 controller, and we played for about half an hour, there and then, me using an Xbox One controller and her using the new 360 controller. But yeah, you can't just plug in a controller and play :3
Emrah and you have steam controller and TONS of 3rd party pc/ps/xbox controller. not only that you can easly use native wii controllers for wii emulated games, with a little bit of thinkering you can get original gamecube controllers to work with pc games.

Nice, I recently played Gang Beasts with my friends and we had xbox controller, PS4 controller, and generic Logictech controller at the same time. We didn't think much of it until one of my friend mentioned we all had different controllers playing the same game lol

Hard to talk in party chat? i have a small 960, 2gb, basicaly a 120 dlls card, and i play, for example, Overwatch at high, with discord runing in the background, where i have my friends and we talking, and run a 2nd monitor where i see youtube or netflix when im not talking to my friends. Last time i had a crash in a game was when i first overclocked my actual processor and i was forcing it too much, but thats something not many people do. I just rolled it back 100 mhz and done...... You don't need to mess with the settings, when you install a game in a PC the game detects your hardware and goes to a configuration presset for such hardware, and 99 % of the time, you can still get more juice from your hardware. so you CAN play with the settings, but if you don't wanna bother, just "install" the game and run and don't need to... and i say "install" because if you got that game from steam or battlenet, you don't install shit, you just download it and steam/bnet does the "instalation" for you... just like when you download a game from PSN for example.
@Person. and what do you do on a console? You just launch a game and you're automatically connected to your friends to talk? And no never, even if you have a laptop from back in 2005 if you run games that have similar system requirements then the game will automatically detect the hardware and choose the optimal settings. Now you'll say "but you have to look at the requirements" then play on consoles if anyone can't be bothered to take 5 secs(literally, go on game's page on steam and scroll down to look at the requirements) and look at the requirements then yeah go play on a console. And about the building part. Go to the microenter, choose your parts, pay 20 bucks extra and have them build it for you. Bring home the thing and hook it up to a display. Considering you guys pay 60 bucks for online on top of the internet bill, 20 for building a pc shouldn't be much. And what, consoles cost 230$ used, yeah, G4560 and 1050 system costs 230$ used and the latter can run GTA 5 on ultra 60 FPS while the console struggles with 30 FPS on medium. So there.

Sure, I'll concede the Xbox has more Halo games (Across the platforms, ugh) but that wasn't the point, the point is we have Halo 1 and 2 as well as that Installation 01 game which actually looks pretty good tbh.
I know the Xbox emulators are trash but I'm sure someone will pick up on that eventually, until then, I got a hundred thousand different games of equal quality to play.
Btw, I picked up this new game on Steam which is free called Warframe, it's pretty fun and it's not pay to win(Can you call a game without PvP a pay to win?), you could enjoy it just as much as a casher.
It's on Xbox One and PS4 so if you can get it, I'd recommend picking it up :)

Did this guy completely forget about the red ring of death?I had to send my 360 in twice for the same problem. I paid around $100 for the repairs. On pc if there was an issue similar to the red ring of death I could have fixed it for free and used that $100 to upgrade my rig.
Dark Poet We went through 3 360s. They were fun while they lasted, but just didn't last very long, and that's ignoring the disk killing they did. The laptop I bought 3-4 years back is still going strong, even if it isn't a great gaming machine. My tower has never had trouble.

I just hate it when I can run the same multiplatform games on PC at a higher framerate and higher resolution and I get to pick whether to use a controller or a mouse and keyboard or both.

Most discs can't be repaired for like $2-3 bucks (although its risky with certain discs, i.e. og Xbox), heck my retro game store fixes it for free for me because I'm a regular.

I've been gaming on pc since December 2016, i now have 30 games in my library, iv had one issue with one game, outlast wouldn't load so i unintalled and reinstall and now it's fine. All 30 games play on my 65 inch 4k tv with a controller in my lounge room. Before my pc i played on the playstation 4, even thou i really enjoyed my gaming experience on the console. Now playing what ever game genre i want at 60fps at whatever resolution i choose, The ps4 doesn't come close to the gaming experience i have now, At the end of the day I'm glad i opened my eyes because there is so much more to gaming and nothing compares to a pc. I will be honest i will miss a couple of ps4 exclusives but there's more than enough games to play on pc that will surpass a couple of ps4 titles.

I'm blind because you to dumb to operate a pc. righto. At first owning a pc, yes you have to set it up install drivers ect. you do this once then your done. I put my pc to sleep, when I want to play games I press a button on the keyboard or the xbox button on the controller, it's awake, all my games are icons click on a game and play. I don't have to get up and swap disk over to play something different. I'm not sure what's so hard about it.

Let's talk about how they never bring Nintendo up, even though Nintendo makes the best exclusives out of all the consoles.... This just shows how fucking blind... SMT games are great, but at this point all of those games can be played on PC as well with emulators, so.... PC is beyond any console.

But I don't have bitdefender, so I have little room to talk.
maintenance: blow the dust out of your PC once a month and make sure your PC isnt overheating. it only takes like 5min. console peasants just think its "too hard" because they're lazy and close minded.
TheSgtSpartan They think consoles don't need the dust blown out. If you could open your console without voiding the warranty and clean the insides like a PC, the life of the console would be greatly prolonged.
And regular scans to check for malware,Spyware,Trojans and adware,making sure your security is up to date,freeing up HDD every so often,updating windows,reactivating product licenses if you have to reinstall software,looking into bug fixes if Auto updates are distrubuted for the game,downloading the correct joy to key software for all the games that valve where to lazy to patch native controller support,making sure you specs are capable of stably running the game,making sure when you download your mods and joy to key software you don't trigger ransomware and if you do having to reboot in safemode and attempt to remove said ransomware,having to recode domain due to hardware glitches etc.....No let's not LIE that PC Gaming doesn't have a LOT more headaches then consoles.
Sony Only You make it seem like a lot. At least our games don't get scratched, and I know the hassle of cleaning a scratched disk. All these things usually take just a few minutes, and cleaning out HDD space? You console peasants are locked to 1 hard drive, with usually at the max 1tb. In a PC, you can have as much space as you want. You can have 80gb, or 5tb+. Its your choice and if you don't like cleaning it so much and need more space, just get some more HDD's or SSD's.

I mean that's what I tell myself after the rare occurance of something going wrong in an attempt to not rage at the stupid thing, or myself for not checking the personal installation box
Not really. Some technical PC problems that are nearly impossible to fix are still frustating. Updating drivers/programs and configurating games on the other hand are enjoyable, even then it's not really needed in modern machines with modern games.
ECH! Same. But OMG the time I spent two weeks every day having to manually locate and delete a virus that was multiplying rapidy bringing usage to 100% slowing my PC down was a nightmare. No antivirus would locate it, including full malwarebytes scan and avast, because as I found out it was a tool I downloaded that ended up being fake and the multiplied versions changed their filename. Only way I located it was by remembering what I downloaded the day it began and finding it through files in safe mode and going to properties and checking the original filename as it changed the name of the original too. What an arse that was. But at least now I have the experience of manually checking through files for viruses in safe mode on a heavily infected computer.

Your average Brit & Whovian: That's what system images are for. You use the windows 7 Backup program to make a system image, then when things get fubared you boot from a rescue CD or the windows install disc and restore the image. Problem solved.

I feel these are some of the largest flaws of the PC gaming platform:
1. Setup for the PC platform is typically less convenient than setup for console platforms.
2. Entry cost for the PC platform is typically higher than for a console of equivalent power. This remains true until you approach more devoted gaming styles that incorporate the purchase of a higher volume of games, more peripherals, and the subscription price of console gaming networks.
3. Game builds are typically more unstable on the PC platform than they are on console platforms.
4. Cheaters typically have a larger presence on the PC platform than they do on console platforms.
I'm open to evidence that contradicts the statements that I have provided.

I give people shit for gaming on consoles, but it's all in jest. I don't actually care what you actually play on as long as you play games and have fun. I want everyone to play games and have fun. I may poke fun, but as long as you are also enjoying the medium I love and we can enjoy it together, then that's all that matters to me.

Nice. I sold mine as consoles are too similar to PCs now imo. I miss inserting a cartridge/disc and just playing. Plus, the framerate was just unbearable. I loved the DS4 though. It was a massive upgrade from the DS3. I STILL think that the the XMB was a lot better than whatever the new UI is called. I am happy that you love it, it's just not for me anymore. Well, I think I'll pick up the Switch at some point though. I still need my mariokart, smash bros, and zelda.
I have a hand disability so one of the most liberating PC gaming experieces for me was being being able to play Skyrim by simultaneously controlling a Steam Controller with my foot and a mouse with my one good hand. When consoles give me that kind of affordance and accommodation, maybe I'll consider blowing away money on such a single-purpose piece of metal.

Dwayne The 1050ti alone costs $130-150. Also yes, the 1050ti is a lot better. You can play high settings at 1080p at at least 40-60 fps on nearly all games. A typical 1050ti pc might cost $300-400. The ps4 uses a custom hd 7870, which is apparently similar to a gtx 660(ti), and I'm sorry to burst the bubble but the 1050ti is far greater than the 660ti (just look at the numbers if its a bit difficult to comprehend) :) .
The term peasant is a useful one. I've practically never used it, but it is useful to describe the people who deserve it. Dwayne there does.
Dwayne Hmm, Ive been told im a 7-8/10 guy, which isnt exactly bad on the scale of things. Im also 16 so you probably have more money than me considering I only have a saturday job. Coincidentally, I got sent unrequested nudes on Thursday by my crush. My point being theres no way you can know this stuff about me and no way I can confirm this about you. And for you to have to resort to this completely unrelated comparison means you realised that you were wrong and yes, the 1050ti can beat console performance. (Even the rx 460 can beat/match the ps4). Its ok to admit defeat dude, this could be a sign that youre taking the first step away from ignorance.
Problems:

Honestly if the consoles want to be able to have a selling point without forcing exclusives, all they gotta do is bring back the pop in and play stuff. Take out the required game installations and they'll have a big selling point over the pc again. Then have every game have 2 presets, 60fps/lower graphical fidelity, and 30 fps/highest possible graphical fidelity.

Actually, freeing up disk space once in a while if you're using an ssd is good for the performance of the disk as its speed degrades as more space gets allocated.
So removing all the leftover files from the updates can actually gain you some performance.
Once I was super fucked on speed and I decided to find all the shit I had laying around and I removed 15+ gb of old updates and temp files. And if you're using a 90gb ssd, 15gb is a few more frames worth of performance.

Repairing a console is a nightmare and usually you need two dead ones to make a working one since parts are not affordable or sometimes accessible. Often they need the right matching parts even among the same consoles with newer ones. And even when you got a match you often need to take modify the parts or take components off the original and swap them across to work. So it makes it more viable just to buy a new one. On a pc it pays for itself when only one part fails and just needs simply replaced and by that time usually with an upgrade.

Well, it actually is possible to get viruses by just using the PC. Namely, if another computer in the same network has a virus and there is some way to duplicate the virus from the already infected computer to the other computer. This can be done with security issues in the operating system or by manipulating the operating system to connect to a computer that says, that it is an internet router, when it is not and then manipulating the information downloaded by the browser when using the internet. However, most of the time the developers of the virus don't implement such a functionality and if they do, they use a security problem with the operating system (like PETYA 2 or however it is called did with a security problem in Windows the NSA knew but didn't tell Microsoft about, that then got leaked). The chance of getting a virus that way is rather small.
An antivirus also doesn't save your PC from getting viruses, some of them still can't even handle ZIP-Bombs. The antivirus software that is commonly recommended, if any, is Malwarebytes. But you shouldn't rely on the antivirus alone and inform yourself about malware and all the ways you can get it, if you truly want to be safe from those attacks. If you want to inform yourself about that and if you can speak german, I highly recommend watching the videos of SemperVideo, a german youtuber.

I originally was a console gamer, but now I'm PC gamer. Due to the reason; is that I really needed a computer at that time. That'll both serious game, and aid with school work. I've built a PC twice. Once under powered, and the second time much better than before. The only issue I have with PC gaming is the unpredictable power failures. Sometimes your computer draws too much wattage or it fluctuates. Yes, you can do diagnosis and tweak settings. However if in-experienced it could cause boot up issues, or failure to start.
Here's what happened to me.I play Ark a lot, after the course of a couple months I noticed my screen flickering. But my monitor is supposed to eliminate flickering. Then after awhile Ark would immediately shut my computer down. It happened many times of the course of 3 weeks. I looked online, and most people would say that the power supply was faulty. My power supply was stable through the UEFI and CPU id programs.
Then I further inspected, and then I saw that my GTX 1070 card fans weren't spinning. So then I thought maybe I can manually turn on fan speed before booting up a game. I un-installed my display driver using device manager. Then restarted my computer a few times. Then it reconfigured itself luckily.
So now every time I want to play my game without my computer shutting down, I have to manually go to MSI afterburner, and turn my GPU fans on.
I guess I have to say is that be ready to maintenance your rig. If you built one yourself. Other than that regarding the visual fidelity and performance you get from PC easily out classes consoles out there today.
If this happened on the console, they'll probably asked you to send your console and expect 6months to return or buy another console.
actually registry cleaning is a thing but rarely necessary. some times u uninstall something that leaves stuff in registry that causes issues but that again is rare. i just like to clean mine since i dont want any residue behind of the programs i install "especially the pirated stuff, those cracks can leave stuff behind" but that is also automated since i use a different uninstall tool over the windows default one
I've never understood why this is an issue at all or why people argue about this in general. A console is, for all intents and purposes, a prebuilt PC with low-medium end hardware (medium at release date usually) running on a custom OS that you can't uninstall and with very limited support for what user input devices can be used for it. They are usually overpriced for their performance, and the only real advantage I can see with them is that they are extremely easy to set up and play on.
PC's, meanwhile, can have whatever strength hardware you can afford/choose to use, can run any OS of your choosing, can utilize any input device with a USB connector, and they have access to a wide range of services and customization due to their unlocked nature (mods, emulation, numerous patches, graphics wrappers etc). Building one with the same level hardware as a current gen console is always cheaper, and you have the option of using higher end hardware to support advanced graphical fidelity if you can afford it. Obviously you have to learn how to utilize these options that are now available to you (it isn't hard at all, seriously), if you want to enjoy them, so the only real limitation a PC has compared to a console is how much time and effort you are willing to invest in it.
For an example on graphical fidelity, take the remastered version of The Last of Us. It has the option to play in either 60fps or 30fps mode. With 30fps mode, graphical settings are maxed, but you play at a lower framerate. With 60fps mode, framerate is improved but several graphical settings such as lighting and shadows have to be reduced to enable the game to run smoothly. If the game was released for PC, you could play at 60fps with graphics maxed as long as you had hardware strong enough to handle it.
