Exclusives are essential, otherwise what would be the point of owning a certain console? 99% of the top games on the Switch are Nintendo exclusives, yet I don't see anyone complain about that. But when Sony or Microsoft do something like that, they're "anti-consumer". 🤦♀️

I always feel left out when people talk about how great cuphead is and how good mario and splatoon are, while me in the corner can bearly buy games let alone a whole console. I really want to play the games on pc and Nintendo switch and xbox. But all i have is a ps4 which isnt that bad but it sucks i cant really play anything else. @@StardustLegacyFighter Dude Switch has tons of worthwhile games, almost all of which can be played anywhere (I say almost since Nintendo has let a few cloud serviced games on switch recently), many of which feel like they couldn't be done without the switch's unique attributes. Arms, for example? How could you do something like that on PC without controllers like joycons, something like vr controllers, or using old Nintendo controllers like the Wiimote and Nunchuck? Granted not all exclusives on switch use the joycons to the same extent as arms due to the joycons having their own issues, but games like Luigis Mansion 3, Mario Odyseey, and many others are amazing for a portable platform, and wouldnt be possible without Nintendo using a system like the switch. Yes, PC is the most powerful of all gaming platforms, but the switch is the most powerful and most diverse TABLET gaming device, and that has a good separation point from the other consoles by going for a portable market AND a normal market that I feel makes the console worth it, since when you buy a game for it, you don't just get it on the TV, You also get it on the go, something only really attempted by Sony with their wierd cross-platform buying shit with the Vita, before that system ironically died out rather quickly (Vita literally means life)
My take on exclusives, people seem to forget exclusives come in 2 types: 1st party and 3rd party. With 1st party exclusives the company who owns the IP can do whatever they want with it. Sony can create new IPs exclusively for the PS4 because they can, Microsoft could do the same but they chose to release PC ports of their games (with Killer Instinct making an appearance on Steam sometime later). 3rd party exclusives are something else entirely..... these are the result of companies like Sony paying developers to keep their games exclusive to the PS4, hell sometimes Sony doesn't even need to pay them since both developers and indie devs choose to keep some of their content exclusive to PC and PS4 with Xbox getting nothing. Personally I think 3rd party developers should not be obligated to make games or content exclusive to certain platforms.
We are aware of 1st party and 3rd party and yes they can do whatever they want with their IP same thing applies to 3rd party. Exclusives shouldn't be a thing period or at the very least every game should be on PC out of necessity and objective reasons.

Since people buy a console for exclusives, console sales increase. Since more consoles are sold, more third party games will most likely be sold on that console, which a company like Sony can earn licensing fees. All in all, them earning less in sales now is an investment later.

I hate elitist of any type I know ps4 gamers who felt crushed when they learned about Sony stopping Cross play I am a PC gamer, I was excited by cross play because it meant that I could play with them. My friend group is fractured, one half is PlayStation 4 gamers and the other half is pc gamers. Both had there valid reasons for there choice in platform. A good computer and a ps4 are expensive in my country.

But its CPU was an Intel one with LGA pins, but im pretty sure i can fit the PGA AMD CPU in the motherboard. Im just done with console gaming. Games like Just Cause 3 and GTA V run on 26 fps most of the time, like come on! Also it can even drop less on Just Cause 3. And the PS Plus bs that they make you pay just to play online games. Sure it offers free games, but most of the time they are garbage and you cant play them without the PS Plus.
Nine's And AK's Gaming Channel One thing, don't use the same motherboard if you're going from intel to AMD. They both have a different pin layout and they aren't compatible with each other, so get a mobo that supports an AMD processor. As for everything else, remember to orient the CPU with the little triangle facing the marker on the mobo, and seperate your RAM sticks by one slot, so 1, 3 or 2, 4. Anyway, good luck!
Exclusives ARE anti consumer. I've experienced multiple times where I've only owned one console from one game company a generation, I see a trailer of a game and it says, "Only for Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo." And I wonder, "Damn, why can't these games be multiplat?"
I'm thankful to have all the current gaming consoles. Started pc gaming, but exclusives are absolutely terrible. I remember playing the tomb raider reboot for the first time on my PS4. It was absolutely amazing to play. I got so excited for its sequel, which is the Rise of the Tomb Raider... I was so happy until I learned it was Xbox exclusive for holiday 2015. PS4 had to wait a year to get the game. Super upset how tomb raider was a multi platform game... then became a time exclusive for a year on the consoles. Destiny has exclusive content for the PS4. I'm a veteran player moving onto pc and it's sucks that D2 will have exclusive content on PS4.

joey rosenbaum I will somewhat disagree with you if you played destiny in its first year. When the hawkmoon was only on PlayStation. I absolutely loved that gun, it was my main pvp gun before the hand cannon meta. Back then the suros regrime and the auto rifles were supreme. But when the hand cannon meta was around I still used the hawkmoon over thorn. But hand cannons were nerfed quite a bit once the taken king was around. I felt bad for Xbox players for not experiencing the hawkmoon in its full glory. The other exclusives were not as great in comparison to the hawkmoon in year 1. I think the zen meteor was a second "best" exclusive.

My stance on exclusives: why can't (for instance) The Last or Us be on PC, Xbox, and maybe WiiU? No good reason. Because Sony execs said so via licensing agreements. Why can't a PC exclusive (like say Legend of Grimrock) be on PS4 or Xbox? Basically every reason. Sony and Microsoft's policy for actually getting a game on there is infamous for a reason. Or how about control? Most PC games take advantage of the mouse for instance, try playing Legend of Grimrock on a controller I DARE YOU :D just off the dome
I think exclusives are good to a certain degree, so long as they're first party. Innovation and competition are very important to the industry, and first party exclusives help to stimulate these. PAID exclusives, on the other hand, are completely anti-consumer, and destructive to the industry as a whole.
I disagree. Any form of exclusivity should be frowned upon. Hardware should sell on their own merit, not because of what type of product it allows. Otherwise hardware are useless. Take example of how Graphics Cards are sold. Each companies makes different variations of the same GPU family. Each variations of the same GPU has their own innovations from better TDP, Cooling, overclockability, compactible, or even style.
This whole argument of anti-consumer is really silly. The companies that invest into studios that create these exclusives we know today have been around for awhile....its how business works. Thats how gaming began. You can't just expect the intellectual properties of these companies to magically appear on your platform of choice just because you say so. Absolutely nothing in life works like that. You said that you have a full time job, and thats exactly what is necessary to gain things that weren't available to you before. At the end of the day, each company has a target demographic they focus on. They're not focused on people who are too stubborn with their wallets.

There's nothing to compare against,so no low/med/high on consoles. The INI values also aren't usually released for the multiplats,so PC can check how it looks,and what equivalent it is,because it would probably be a horrific result for the console.

Because in 5-10 years time, emulators will release for 8th gen consoles. I personally hate exclusives because I can't afford another console. I can't even afford a newer console. I am on a PS3 and PC. Thankfully PC gives me the option for cheaper upgrade to be able to play newer games where as on console I would need to buy a whole new console.

The problem is that, there is no reason for Microsoft or Sony to change their ways. Why would a successful corporation boycott it's own hardware? Because as long as these consoles give them profit, they won't change this anti consumer practice. And then you have third party publishers or devs (mostly Japanese) who also make exclusive games because they don't have much faith in what they're developing and would rather get a bag of money from Sony or Microsoft to make it a timed exclusive or full time exclusive. For example, games like the Persona or Yakuza series which hardly have a reason to be locked to Sony. However, if SEGA still had their own console, not even Sony would get those games. The scary part now is that Atari is coming into the console business again. You know what that means? Yep, that's right, more exclusives. As if we didn't have enough of those already.
JKL I don't think the situation with Japanese devs is going to change anytime soon either, people over there just don't game on PC very much, which ironically flies in the face of the high tech paradise that a lot of people perceive Japan to be. But personally I think things are going to change now that China is coming into the picture, and most gamers over there play on PC. In fact I think that market is a big factor in why MS decided to bring all their exclusives to the platform, and why we're seeing a spat of Japanese titles being ported over as well.
Actually I kind of agree, with an exception to first party games, which cannot be used on other platforms without the permission of the creator, companies (and some fans that I know of) believe that console exclusives will draw in a bigger audience when more than likely, their sales are being restricted because it is on one instead of all platforms, multi-platform games aren't bad so you don't have to waste money on a platform you don't have and the game at minimum.
I agree that exclusives are bad, but wouldn't not having exclusives basically defeat the purpose of consoles in general because having unique IPs is the only way the consumer can distinguish and place value with their dollar: between one black box and the other black box and oh that one that is portable. Exclusive games are basically what someone puts value behind the brand they choose?

I feel like I need to clarify something here that you described. What you were describing is what’s called social economics. It’s basically in laymens terms, an economic viewpoint of the consumer. Not a bad thing at all really cause at the end of the day everyone everywhere is a consumer of something, however it is a very controversial and subjective field of economics. I’m no expert mind you, but just something I’ve noted after watching the video, sure the guy you’re talking about IS an idiot, but still. Overall, exclusives from a macro and micro economic standpoint, are good. They drive overall competition and sales of consoles which I’m sure you’ve heard and are aware of already. Sure you could take away exclusives for a time and just have sales be based solely off console quality, but then it just ends up being another cycle, or worse; everything ends up on PC and now steam has a monopoly on EVERY game/producer. Just a thought also for the community.

Wait... Companies pay these developers to make the game for them, and keep them exclusive (example being Bayonetta 2 and Naughty Dog games). It is an investment on their side in an attempt to drive sales for their product. It hurts me to that I need to buy a PS4 to play Bloodborne and a Switch/WiiU to play The legend of Zelda (Cemu tho...). However, the argument that these practices are anti-consumer is a little idiotic since most of these games would not exist the way they do without their exclusivity. But yeah... It's simple. If you only play games like Call of Duty and Fifa, get the Xbox One X, it will be more powerful than the PS4 Pro. However if you want the best ( in my opinion ) console exclusive titles, get a PS4 Pro: Bloodborne, N-Sane Trilogy, Uncharted 1-4, The Last of Us, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous Second Son, Horizon Zero Dawn, Until Dawn, The Last Guardian, Nioh. Upcoming exclusives: God of War, Death Stranding, Days Gone Detroit: Become Human, The Last of Us Part II, Shadow of The Colossus remake. However you also want to consider which platform is your friends playing on. I personally purchased a PS4 originally because i really wanted to play the new Infamous game, no matter what once it released. However i eventually purchased i 2nd hand Xbox One for around 100$ cheaper so i could play GTA5 with my friends. I can tell your a PC gamer at heart cause i have allot of PC gamer friends and most of them have the "fuck consoles" mentality. That's fine, i don't care. However its exclusives that drives the sales of a particular console. Say if all Nintendo games had been released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in addition to their own Wii U system when it came out. Even though the Wii U was a commercial failure, this would have ensured that the Wii U would have failed even faster than the Dreamcast. I understand youd like to have all games under one master platform, but right now that's just not viable.
Nintendo: I've been a Nintendo fan for just below a decade. 3 years below a decade to be exact. However, my very first video game was Mario Kart Super Circuit for GBA. I feel that Nintendo games have are most fun to play. Nintendo also the best music to me. Best of all, Nintendo is kid friendly, and I have 3 little siblings. Finally, The Legend of Zelda is my favorite game franchise. Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword are my favorites.

I always feel left out when people talk about how great cuphead is and how good mario and splatoon are, while me in the corner can bearly buy games let alone a whole console. I really want to play the games on pc and Nintendo switch and xbox. But all i have is a ps4 which isnt that bad but it sucks i cant really play anything else. @@StardustLegacyFighter Dude Switch has tons of worthwhile games, almost all of which can be played anywhere (I say almost since Nintendo has let a few cloud serviced games on switch recently), many of which feel like they couldn't be done without the switch's unique attributes. Arms, for example? How could you do something like that on PC without controllers like joycons, something like vr controllers, or using old Nintendo controllers like the Wiimote and Nunchuck? Granted not all exclusives on switch use the joycons to the same extent as arms due to the joycons having their own issues, but games like Luigis Mansion 3, Mario Odyseey, and many others are amazing for a portable platform, and wouldnt be possible without Nintendo using a system like the switch. Yes, PC is the most powerful of all gaming platforms, but the switch is the most powerful and most diverse TABLET gaming device, and that has a good separation point from the other consoles by going for a portable market AND a normal market that I feel makes the console worth it, since when you buy a game for it, you don't just get it on the TV, You also get it on the go, something only really attempted by Sony with their wierd cross-platform buying shit with the Vita, before that system ironically died out rather quickly (Vita literally means life)
My take on exclusives, people seem to forget exclusives come in 2 types: 1st party and 3rd party. With 1st party exclusives the company who owns the IP can do whatever they want with it. Sony can create new IPs exclusively for the PS4 because they can, Microsoft could do the same but they chose to release PC ports of their games (with Killer Instinct making an appearance on Steam sometime later). 3rd party exclusives are something else entirely..... these are the result of companies like Sony paying developers to keep their games exclusive to the PS4, hell sometimes Sony doesn't even need to pay them since both developers and indie devs choose to keep some of their content exclusive to PC and PS4 with Xbox getting nothing. Personally I think 3rd party developers should not be obligated to make games or content exclusive to certain platforms.

Exclusives shouldn't be a thing period or at the very least every game should be on PC out of necessity and objective reasons.

The only thing I disagree with is first party exclusive versus third-party exclusives. Technically a company can do whatever they want with their's first party exclusives and no one can technically say shit about it. Since people buy a console for exclusives, console sales increase. Since more consoles are sold, more third party games will most likely be sold on that console, which a company like Sony can earn licensing fees. All in all, them earning less in sales now is an investment later.

Total War on consoles is fine it wouldn't work well though as it relies heavily on mouse and keyboard.

Leggo / Prostatus5 thanks. Ive already dissisambled an old PC and re built it, and it worked! But its CPU was an Intel one with LGA pins, but im pretty sure i can fit the PGA AMD CPU in the motherboard. Im just done with console gaming. Games like Just Cause 3 and GTA V run on 26 fps most of the time, like come on! Also it can even drop less on Just Cause 3. And the PS Plus bs that they make you pay just to play online games. Sure it offers free games, but most of the time they are garbage and you cant play them without the PS Plus.
Nine's And AK's Gaming Channel One thing, don't use the same motherboard if you're going from intel to AMD. They both have a different pin layout and they aren't compatible with each other, so get a mobo that supports an AMD processor. As for everything else, remember to orient the CPU with the little triangle facing the marker on the mobo, and seperate your RAM sticks by one slot, so 1, 3 or 2, 4. Anyway, good luck!

I'm thankful to have all the current gaming consoles. Started pc gaming, but exclusives are absolutely terrible. I remember playing the tomb raider reboot for the first time on my PS4. It was absolutely amazing to play. I got so excited for its sequel, which is the Rise of the Tomb Raider... I was so happy until I learned it was Xbox exclusive for holiday 2015. PS4 had to wait a year to get the game. Super upset how tomb raider was a multi platform game... then became a time exclusive for a year on the consoles.
Destiny has exclusive content for the PS4. I'm a veteran player moving onto pc and it's sucks that D2 will have exclusive content on PS4.

joey rosenbaum I will somewhat disagree with you if you played destiny in its first year. When the hawkmoon was only on PlayStation. I absolutely loved that gun, it was my main pvp gun before the hand cannon meta. Back then the suros regrime and the auto rifles were supreme. But when the hand cannon meta was around I still used the hawkmoon over thorn. But hand cannons were nerfed quite a bit once the taken king was around. I felt bad for Xbox players for not experiencing the hawkmoon in its full glory. The other exclusives were not as great in comparison to the hawkmoon in year 1. I think the zen meteor was a second "best" exclusive.

My stance on exclusives: why can't (for instance) The Last or Us be on PC, Xbox, and maybe WiiU? No good reason. Because Sony execs said so via licensing agreements. Why can't a PC exclusive (like say Legend of Grimrock) be on PS4 or Xbox? Basically every reason. Sony and Microsoft's policy for actually getting a game on there is infamous for a reason. Or how about control? Most PC games take advantage of the mouse for instance, try playing Legend of Grimrock on a controller I DARE YOU :D just off the dome
I think exclusives are good to a certain degree, so long as they're first party. Innovation and competition are very important to the industry, and first party exclusives help to stimulate these. PAID exclusives, on the other hand, are completely anti-consumer, and destructive to the industry as a whole.
I disagree. Any form of exclusivity should be frowned upon. Hardware should sell on their own merit, not because of what type of product it allows. Otherwise hardware are useless. Take example of how Graphics Cards are sold. Each companies makes different variations of the same GPU family. Each variations of the same GPU has their own innovations from better TDP, Cooling, overclockability, compactible, or even style.

This whole argument of anti-consumer is really silly. The companies that invest into studios that create these exclusives we know today have been around for awhile....its how business works. Thats how gaming began. You can't just expect the intellectual properties of these companies to magically appear on your platform of choice just because you say so. Absolutely nothing in life works like that. You said that you have a full time job, and thats exactly what is necessary to gain things that weren't available to you before. At the end of the day, each company has a target demographic they focus on. They're not focused on people who are too stubborn with their wallets.

There's nothing to compare against,so no low/med/high on consoles. The INI values also aren't usually released for the multiplats,so PC can check how it looks,and what equivalent it is,because it would probably be a horrific result for the console.

Because in 5-10 years time, emulators will release for 8th gen consoles. Pc gamers all around the world can simply download an emulator, and play ps4/xboner/switch exclusives for free, with improved visuals and framerate, and mods to make each playthrough of these games different from the last. And for anyone saying that emulation is piracy, I can confirm, gentlemen, that it is simply not piracy? How was I able to discover this information? Well, I simply googled "is emulation piracy," and I found out that it is legal. Besides, if it were piracy, do you think that these filthy multi-billion dollar companies would have just... pulled the plug on emulation? Exactly.

The problem is that, there is no reason for Microsoft or Sony to change their ways. Why would a successful corporation boycott it's own hardware? Because as long as these consoles give them profit, they won't change this anti consumer practice. And then you have third party publishers or devs (mostly Japanese) who also make exclusive games because they don't have much faith in what they're developing and would rather get a bag of money from Sony or Microsoft to make it a timed exclusive or full time exclusive. For example, games like the Persona or Yakuza series which hardly have a reason to be locked to Sony. However, if SEGA still had their own console, not even Sony would get those games.
The scary part now is that Atari is coming into the console business again. You know what that means? Yep, that's right, more exclusives. As if we didn't have enough of those already.
JKL I don't think the situation with Japanese devs is going to change anytime soon either, people over there just don't game on PC very much, which ironically flies in the face of the high tech paradise that a lot of people perceive Japan to be. But personally I think things are going to change now that China is coming into the picture, and most gamers over there play on PC. In fact I think that market is a big factor in why MS decided to bring all their exclusives to the platform, and why we're seeing a spat of Japanese titles being ported over as well.
JKL well Microsoft is now starting to let up on exclusives with the Xbox play anywhere but it does still have ways to go.
Actually I kind of agree, with an exception to first party games, which cannot be used on other platforms without the permission of the creator, companies (and some fans that I know of) believe that console exclusives will draw in a bigger audience when more than likely, their sales are being restricted because it is on one instead of all platforms, multi-platform games aren't bad so you don't have to waste money on a platform you don't have and the game at minimum.
The 'crash bandicoot insane trilogy' is on pc now, I saw it earlier on Steam

Ironically, Crash is coming to Switch, and PC soon, we assume Xbox but it was never confirmed.

I agree that exclusives are bad, but wouldn't not having exclusives basically defeat the purpose of consoles in general because having unique IPs is the only way the consumer can distinguish and place value with their dollar: between one black box and the other black box and oh that one that is portable. Exclusive games are basically what someone puts value behind the brand they choose?
Beats the purpose of competing to make better products if their all on one. It just eliminates choice of where, what, and when you get a game or play it on

I feel like I need to clarify something here that you described. What you were describing is what’s called social economics. It’s basically in laymens terms, an economic viewpoint of the consumer. Not a bad thing at all really cause at the end of the day everyone everywhere is a consumer of something, however it is a very controversial and subjective field of economics. I’m no expert mind you, but just something I’ve noted after watching the video, sure the guy you’re talking about IS an idiot, but still. Overall, exclusives from a macro and micro economic standpoint, are good. They drive overall competition and sales of consoles which I’m sure you’ve heard and are aware of already. Sure you could take away exclusives for a time and just have sales be based solely off console quality, but then it just ends up being another cycle, or worse; everything ends up on PC and now steam has a monopoly on EVERY game/producer. Just a thought also for the community.
I have to say I agree that Third party games should not be exclusive but first party games should be exclusive, because in my opinion I stick with Nintendo because of their exclusive

From the statements you were making the way you see gaming platforms it not how i see it of course i respect what you like or don't like but complaining about platform exclusives isn't gonna change anything exclusives been here since console gaming began over 30 years ago.

Wait... Companies pay these developers to make the game for them, and keep them exclusive (example being Bayonetta 2 and Naughty Dog games). It is an investment on their side in an attempt to drive sales for their product. It hurts me to that I need to buy a PS4 to play Bloodborne and a Switch/WiiU to play The legend of Zelda (Cemu tho...). However, the argument that these practices are anti-consumer is a little idiotic since most of these games would not exist the way they do without their exclusivity.
But yeah... These type of channels are stupid, I will agree with you on that.
It's simple. If you only play games like Call of Duty and Fifa, get the Xbox One X, it will be more powerful than the PS4 Pro.
However if you want the best ( in my opinion ) console exclusive titles, get a PS4 Pro:
Bloodborne, N-Sane Trilogy, Uncharted 1-4, The Last of Us, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous Second Son, Horizon Zero Dawn, Until Dawn, The Last Guardian, Nioh.
Upcoming exclusives:
God of War, Death Stranding, Days Gone Detroit: Become Human, The Last of Us Part II, Shadow of The Colossus remake.
However you also want to consider which platform is your friends playing on. I personally purchased a PS4 originally because i really wanted to play the new Infamous game, no matter what once it released. However i eventually purchased i 2nd hand Xbox One for around 100$ cheaper so i could play GTA5 with my friends.
I can tell your a PC gamer at heart cause i have allot of PC gamer friends and most of them have the "fuck consoles" mentality. That's fine, i don't care. However its exclusives that drives the sales of a particular console. Say if all Nintendo games had been released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One in addition to their own Wii U system when it came out. Even though the Wii U was a commercial failure, this would have ensured that the Wii U would have failed even faster than the Dreamcast.
I understand youd like to have all games under one master platform, but right now that's just not viable.
Nintendo: I've been a Nintendo fan for just below a decade. 3 years below a decade to be exact. However, my very first video game was Mario Kart Super Circuit for GBA. I feel that Nintendo games have are most fun to play. Nintendo also the best music to me. Best of all, Nintendo is kid friendly, and I have 3 little siblings. Finally, The Legend of Zelda is my favorite game franchise. Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword are my favorites.
