I really liked this vid because you could say the pinkish colour is what it looked like when you were recording it and seeing it in real life. no one else has the real life injected into the tv comparisons. I saw the C3 and C4 side by side and I went with the C3. Why? Because besides the C4 being only slightly brighter there was no difference to my 2020 vision. My C3 replaced my legendary C1 and I couldnt be happier. I am good to go for the next few years now. My concentration has now moved to upgrading my Surround Sound system and eventually getting a PS5. Great video Paul.

I just bought a 65" C4 last week, after my 6 year old LG 55" decided to go "black", I actually watched your unboxing of the C4 65' before I got mine, and was suitably impressed, but seeing it in real life, is SO much better. I would think that unless you had them side by side, you couldn't tell the difference.

I did have a G3 in my living room but it broke down like 4 times in about 6 months. The store was so lovely they refunded me in full and put my CX back in my living room. Ordered a 48" C3 for my gaming room with the same store and that works great so far. Got a super deal on the C3 of around 669 euro (open box model but 100% sealed and a peal on it). Made my choice easy to not go for the C4 this year. Perhaps will jump on the G4 train for the living room hope I have more luck with it else I am doomed to just let the CX stand in the livingroom.

The C4 can hit 1,000 nits but only on small specular highlights otherwise with larger areas of brightness the panel will be much more similar to the C3 as can be seen in your personal 4K HDR footage. Where the difference will be more noticeable is in night scenes with lights where the C4 would be brighter for things like street lights and fireworks etc, anything that is small in size which allows the panel to up the brightness without ABL (automatic brightness level) kicking it to prevent screen burn-in.
I opted for the 55" C3 at £949 from Richer Sounds knowing the C4 was a bit brighter but do not feel paying twice the price for a TV (the C4 was £1,800 at the time), that is only brighter some of the time, was worth the extra. Also, without a side by side comparison I would never know anyway and I still cannot tell from your video so I don't feel any sense of buyer's remorse. I love the C3. It is a noticeable upgrade over my 2019 LG B9 in terms of image quality with brighter HDR and SDR plus a slick new user interface and much faster menus. I could not be happier.
The C4 has no new features this year, just a slightly brighter image, and a different design on the back of the TV as well a slightly tweaked 2024 WebOS. The C3 had least was an upgrade over the C2 as it had DTS audio passthrough reinstated which was removed at some point after the 2019 TVs as my LG B9 supported DTS. The lack of DTS was the reason I did not upgrade my B9 sooner.
In my opinion, you should only buy a current year TV once it has been out a while and has been discounted, such as on Black Friday. By then it will have also had several firmware updates to iron out bugs. It really makes no sense to buy any new TV on release. At best, these are usually iterative improvements over the previous years models anyway and that is certainly the case with the C4.

  • @rochester3

The very subtle diffrences could be down to manufacturing tollerances
and the factory calibration if there was any.
This years models are not showing enough of an improvement to justify
the higher prices., and that applies to all brands.
A new SoC is due for the 2025 models, this may give the better performance
    that we crave for.
If you can't wait, buy a 2023 model

I bought a Samsung S90C 77” a couple weeks ago. I was going back and forth between it and the LG C3 but went with the Samsung for the QD OLED panel and brightness. I like the television for 4K HDR but it actually looks worse than my 10 year old Samsung 4k it replaced as far as upscaling older movies and standard television shows. I also cannot get the motion blurr and judder settings set to where there isn’t weird motion blurr around peoples faces when making just regular movements such as turning their head or jogging on screen etc… nothing fast paced just regular motion. You have more experience with these televisions than I do so my question is do you notice better motion or better regular television upscaling and processing on the LG oleds vs the Samsung S90C or S95C ? I may exchange for LG but not sure if it will make a difference. I’m not a big gamer so television and movies presentation matter more to me. Thanks.

I think the C3 is the best OLED tv from the time the C4 was launched until the C3 is no longer available.
As soon as OLED TVs were launched, it was clearly the best TV technology, but it had 5 faults:
Burn in, brightness, processing, quality issues that come with new tech, and price
Burn-in: the 2023 series is the first series where I believe LG has improved enough that burn in shouldn't be an issue (unless you always watch static images).
Brightness: the C3 is the first C series OLED that really is bright enough for all but the brightest rooms (which is what really sets it apart from the C2 and earlier models)
Processing: The 2023 generation is where LG almost matches Sony as far as performance goes. It isnt better, but you really can only tell under very close examination, and in side-by-side.
Problems with new tech: the first couple models of new tech tend to have issues that are corrected with each successive model. The C9, CX, and C1 seem to have a wide variety of issues beyond burn-in.
Price: once C4 launched, the C3 price dropped enough to make is accessible to most TV buyers.
Some of these faults were fixed on earlier models than the C3, but when the C3 price dropped with the C4 launch, the C3 was the first to overcome all 5 of these price, quality, and reliability faults.
Since the C4 is a very marginal improvement, it will never be worth additional cost, making tje C3 the best value OLED for as long as there are C3 available on the market.

  • @danielunderwood5217
    @danielunderwood5217 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

The difference between th C3/ C4 and g3 /g4 is is so marginal the price difference is not justifiable.
The C4 77" costs the same as a C3 83". Your giving up 16% more screen to get 10% more brightness
The C4 65" costs the same as the C3 77" your giving up 40% more screen size for 10% brightness

That doesn't make any sense. Are you trolling?
      1. The C3 has 3 generations of improvement over the CX.
      2. Not one reviewer or tech site has said the c3 wasn't better than the C2, or that the C2 wasn't better than the C1, or that the C1 wasn't better than the CX.
      3. The specs alone show the C3 to be better in every way (brightness, processing, speed, thickness, weight, color range, color accuracy, etc.)
      4. You most likely saw thia TV in store next to all the other LCDs and OLEDs, and at that time you could not possibly have thought it looked worse than all the others, and then STILL BOUGHT IT
With all 4 of those factors, you expect us to believe the "picture was awful", and that it wasn't a defective unit or that you chose bad picture settings?
