Dr. Bikman, you make science fun and understandable. Your graduate students are very lucky and blessed. This is my second month of 100% carnivore. I am doing bike sprints to address visceral fat. 73 yo woman, getting younger by the day. G*d bless you.
I'm 72 and feel 30 again being carnivore now 526 days. I have been so incredibly happy with how lean this eating style has made me while losing 100 pounds. I did vegan and it made me fat, increased my arthritis and felt like I was dying quickly. Carnivore turned this around so fast and Dr. Bickman's valuable lectures got this medical providers attention and has been instrumental in my recovery. ❤

67 year old that about a year ago I had an adrenal removed. It was the last of my three organs removed. Had some muscle invasive bladder cancer. My proper human diet was instrumental in keeping my Cushing’s symptoms to a minimum. I’m pretty sure the scan coming up soon will show a huge decrease in visceral fat. It never moved until the adrenal induced metabolic dyscrasia was corrected.
I just love your educational content . I am always looking forward to the weekly classroom discussion. My health has improved so much by incorporating a low carb / organic lifestyle .
For me the most impactful statement came at the end. The study that looked at plastics effect on fat storage...plastic yogurt cups, ie., food containers, excrete chemicals that stimulate and cause their chemicals to increase fat storage, was profound. I knew microplastics were damaging but this aspect of their action really caught my attention. I have made a concerted effort to stop purchasing anything in plastic but dairy products like cottage cheese, sour cream, yogurt do not come in glass with a few exceptions. I will return to making my own such products because I can get the raw ingredients in glass containers. Thank you for discussing this valuable research paper.
My butcher wraps my meats in plain, non coated butcher paper. If I go to a new butcher, I take my own butcher paper just in case. So, yes I can escape plastic.

Well I've been struggling with holding this type of fat for years and now that I'm pre menopausal at 48, very nervous, my body is not shifting 100 lb overweight for years, keep going up and down fluctuating between 10- 20 lb gaining and losing gaining and losing, so I pray I can get a handle on this, going to go get my hormones checked soon..🙏🏽💜
An absolutely fascinating and very illuminating explanation of the different types of fat and their role in our bodies. I wish I had known all of this years ago as it makes one understand so much more why we need to manage insulin through low carb/carnivore way of eating.
Thank you, Dr. Bikman! I readily enjoy you as a guest on others' channels. Insulin IQ gives us the opportunity to see your knowledge/lectures in a format where you set the course material. I subbed right away! I always learn something new from your presentations and discussions. Today, it was that visceral fat is more readily burned as fuel over subcutaneous fat. My cheap, inaccurate 😉, electrostatic scale has even calculated the difference in rate change (come to think of it), on my health/fat-loss journey. This lecture also helped solidify my understanding of the differences between hyperplasic and hypertrophic adiposity that you've discussed several times in various videos. Now, onto the next Insulin IQ video on fat burning. Thank you very much!
Thank you for another easy to understand presentation. You spoke about a fascinating study done on plastics around 29:00 minute time frame. Is Miralax on such plastic? Would you share the research paper your referenced please.
I have been ketogenic for a year, but struggle to lose weight. I eat less than 10-20gms of carbs a day, do intermittent fasting, and fast 3 days every month. I do drink 2 cups of coffee with Kitu creamer 0 carbs - it’s cream with stevia, vanilla, and MCT oil. I was diagnosed pre diabetic with an A1C 6.2 a year ago and have dropped it down to 5.8, but my sugars still run high and I can’t get into ketosis except on fasting days and then only 1.2. My cells won’t let the insulin in to get the glucose out! How can I make my cells less resistant? Is there a detox or supplement I can take or maybe a protocol to improve my sensitivity. I don’t qualify for a CGM, and I am testing 3-4 times a day with a glucometer, and my fingers are bruised! Any suggestions will be appreciated!!
Why is it that general physicians, labs, and the internet all get it wrong about what is normal fasting insulin level? Labs will show a normal range going up to 20. In you type in "what is normal fasting insulin," a google search returns "answers" about glucose as if glucose IS insulin. What's up?
6:00 … very interesting … it then translates that consuming fat AND carbs in excess at same time MAY give rise to more efficient and quicker weight gain (fat storage being enhanced) … and the more adipose tissue available gives opportunity for even more weight gain … (?) … if I understand that correctly …
Fun fact: a healthy woman will often have more testosterone than estradiol in her blood, in terms of mass per volume. Testosterone takes much more material to affect the body than estradiol, and it turns out that a strong estrogen signal achieved with estradiol needs about as much hormone material as a weak androgen signal achieved with testosterone.
When we order a lipase lab, why do we only get the total instead of the breakdown of the 3 types that are produced in the oral, pancreas/liver and adipose tissues? What am I missing?
I am 3 weeks into low-carb, (again) plus some carnivore meals to help my hyperinsulinemia calm down. I lost 105 lbs 2 years ago but rebounded. I tried OMAD, but it weakened me, gave me A-Fib. I did not like how I felt. * I am determined to make this happen, and work smarter to be my permanent lifestyle with no more rebounds. I had surgical menopause at age 38 after 7 live births. Iam disabled now with an agressive osteoporosis. Everywhere but my ankles basically. So my focus is predominantly on diet. I have your book. 😊 Any suggestions for me?

I'm wondering if the difference in how the fat cells "grow" is related to why some people get lipidema and some don't. I'm type 2. If I cut carbs and increase meat/fats. Will this not push my ldl colesterol. Blood fats etc up. And contribute to heart disease??? Thanks 4:32
nope, it does the exact opposite bcuz carbs/sugars CAUSE high triglycerides and push cholesterol UP. Mine were high until I started carnivore diet. The both came down to normal in only 60 days.
There’s one type of fat storage you don’t seem to study, and consequently you have no information to share. Why? Subcutaneous and visceral fat is a painless luxury compared to the fat tissue of ugly PAINFUL lipedema? How does this talk to the rest of the body? What purpose does it serve? What colour is it? What signals does it send to the rest of the body? How does one turn it off? I work 3 days per week, exercise 3 days per week, I’ve been keto since 2019 and my CGM shows a consistent 4-5-5.5 mmol/l. Thoughts?
@@DorothyCline-o5l Yes, I’ve have seen it (Berry) but not enough research has been done to take the information to the depths that Dr Bikman can go. I’d like to know more science. Two Australian researchers found the gene in 2020.
Hey Ben,greetings from ireland. Q:Does estrogen dominance in men affect fat distribution & function & testosterone dominance in women through PCOS effect fat distribution & function in women?
Thanks Prof. Bikman for these amazing lectures. I have a question : in your book you mentioned that too much insulin inhibits aromatase in the ovaries leading to decreased conversion of androgens to oestrogens. At the same time the fat tissue produces Aromatase in both sexes and increases oestrgen level in the circulation ! If inhibited aromatase leads to increase andrgens in females , does it icrease andrgens in the tests? If a woman has more oestrgen in the circulation due to besity , why should she have PCOS and infertility ? Would you please talk about this topic . Thank you.
Watch the bone density on your research animals. I have been ketogenic 8 years more longer Carnivore 81 years broken femoral stem osteoporosis. I really need to know if I am affecting my bone density?
Thank you so much for all of the information you share with the public! I have a question. Why is it that some of us women- even before we go through menopause store our fat like our male counterparts usually go? Mid section.
You lost me on the effect of plastic on the growth of fat cells. Does plastic increase the number of subconscious fat cells or the size of the visceral cells or both?
Thank you I am going to start watching all your videos... 55 inches tall, 45 inch waist.... age 79, I have to do something! I have been yo-yo dieting for decades... five years trying to eat Carnivore... failure... failure... failure...

nope, it does the exact opposite bcuz carbs/sugars CAUSE high triglycerides and push cholesterol UP.

Thoughts?
Perhaps there is a scientist out there whose work focuses on your desired topic.
Dr. Ken Berry recently had a video about lipedema - look it up on TH-cam - about one month ago. Very interesting video.
Very good question. I am very interested in listening to Dr Bikman on lipedema.
@@DorothyCline-o5l Yes, I’ve have seen it (Berry) but not enough research has been done to take the information to the depths that Dr Bikman can go. I’d like to know more science. Two Australian researchers found the gene in 2020.
This is the topic ì was hoping to learn about as well.@@venkateswararaosunkara6571

Hi Tassie. Thanks for your question. You may want to go to our website and ask my team: www.insuliniq.com
This was amazing thank you so much for your work. I also love that you say evolutionary or by design:)
its really hard to get away from plastic, almost impossible
Dr, Bikman, you always say don't be afraid of fat. Should men with prostate cancer avoid fat?
Awesome!
Why don't you number the videos so viewers know which videos should be seen first to better understand the topics ?
Thanks for your suggestion.
You lost me on the effect of plastic on the growth of fat cells. Does plastic increase the number of subconscious fat cells or the size of the visceral cells or both?
Thank you I am going to start watching all your videos... 55 inches tall, 45 inch waist.... age 79, I have to do something! I have been yo-yo dieting for decades... five years trying to eat Carnivore... failure... failure... failure...
