Megamare by Orto Parisi is my latest aquatic purchase. Super deep dark mysterious ocean scent

This one of my favorite genres. Squid is a masterpiece. It’s the perfect balance of weird and welcoming. Acqua di Sale is the same, but more grown up. I find it so soft and relaxing, I wear it weekly in the summer, and I get no fish personally, for me the Myrtle really stands out. Sel De Vetiver is another one I enjoy - it’s like the more butch version of Sycamore basically. It kinda smelled like wet paint at first but now it just smells super salty, the saltiest I have anyway, and the paint smell is gone. Weird how that works. Great list, lot’s of stuff I hadn’t tried or even heard of.

    3 of the best:
1 Acqua di Sale - Profumum Roma
    2 Megamare - Orto Parisi
3 Kenzo - Pour Homme EDP
    Amoroud - Wet stone is a class🎉

I've been a regular wearer of James Heeley's Sel Marin for several years and think it fits well on this list. Also Otto Parisi Megamare is an excellent marine scent. Need to get a sample of Zoologist Squid, although I haven't liked anything from that house yet. Great genre to review, Sebastian.

Porthole is such an amazing fragrance! It’s like you on a sail boat on an island. The pineapple sweetness cuts through the heat so well.

Yes, most likely even though I haven’t smelled it. I can tell that might be in this genre but honestly they release so many fragrances can’t keep up with all of them.. 😀

Amber Gris accord or raw material is usually the key for me to get the salty deep oceanic feel. Surprisingly like the mythical nature of amber gris, I find Encens Mythique of Guerlain which is rumoured to contain a small but potent dose real amber Gris of New Zealand that is giving this feel of deep ocean water. Drowned roses chypre.
    Great video.

I miss living in Northern California! I lived in Fremont, California as a kid and I remember going to Half Moon Bay. Even now, I remember that salty, sea smell with the seaweed. It’s emotional for me!
I think this genre would put me in my “happy place”. I have so many good memories of living in Northern California! If I could afford to move back, I would….simply for the beaches, the people, and the scenery! Since I can’t move back, I’m going to explore this genre. Hopefully, I can find a fragrance that puts me in a “happy place” that I can really enjoy when I wear the fragrance! Thank you for putting this review together! You’re the greatest!!! What would you suggest? I trust your recommendations! I have bought at least 10 fragrances just based on on your recommendations, experiences , and expertise! ☮️

My issue with marine fragrances is that they usually don’t smell real to me. They usually smell generic, artificial, soapy - and don’t remind me of the sea at all. But I have a few I love, and they make me want to try more!

  • @that_girl555
    @that_girl555 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I do enjoy salt and mineral fragrances! I sampled Pacific Rock Moss and it faded quickly. Kerosene Walk the Sea pulls strangely on me. Wood Sage and Sea Salt is beautiful but too faint and expensive. Afnan Supermacy Heaven gives me similar vibes at $25. Orto Parisi Megamare is an adventure, I actually enjoy the scent, but a very tiny amount is needed: it intensifies. I was transferring my decant and I spilled some on my dress. Nothing has removed the scent entirely. I picked up My Perfumes Oud Al Saqr yesterday, inspired by discontinued TF Oud Minérale. I’m hopeful!

@@tunahanakin122I’m going to sample Millésime Impérial by Creed or it’s dupe Armaf Milestone next. Milestone was likened to salted watermelon and that sounds so appealing to me. I’m curious about Olympea by Paco Rabanne as well. I did try Bobbi Brown Beach, hoping for a Hawaiian Tropic summer scent, and got a suffocating 1960’s coppertone sunscreen. The hunt continues!

Sea. Sea Foam. Sea Foam splash. Splash foam splash! 🌊🤭 I think I'm still at the phase of not fully enjoying salty fragrances. Partly because some of the salty accords are actually made with woody ambers. Bvlgari's Aqva Marine is a good example. Interestingly enough, that fragrance is mostly a sheen cedar. I think the effect that Cavallier was going for was more of a crystalline sand than outright salty water. I do wanna try that Berdoues though. Simplicity would probably be a good way to start.

I somehow still regret not stacking up the og formulation of Bvlgari Aqva (current fromulation is not bad but still less dense and less potent...) also Giardino benessere - Salaria is a fantastic alternative to Aqva di sale... it's softer and the mint is better in the opening IMO and it is less expensive...(having both is kinda redundant)... in the drydown Aqva di sale has a bit of an edge on how "expensive" it smells IMO but you're not sacrificing much... PS always sample as your milage may very...

Sebastian, this one is quintessential skin scent, at least for me. Performance is poor, you need to reapply almost every hour, no projection, but the smell is quite pleasant. But be carful, there is a prominent seaweed note here.

Not including Tom Ford Oud Minerale is a sin. That is the best salty marine fragrance on the market right now with the most unique twist. Not a bright, beachy, sunny fragrance. But a dark, fresh, cold, salty fragrance. It puts most of the fragrances from this list to shame in terms on uniqueness , quality and smell

A sin? Omfg! That fragrance is discontinued, and I do not care for it. Why would it be a sin if I do not feature it in a video?
