I am so grateful to Catie and others sharing a little of their struggles with mental health. I had no idea how many women this impacted. I learn so much more than knitting from all these podcasts - the true meaning of community. :)
Can't say this enough -- the two of you are yarn podcast gold. I'm not religious but appreciated the talk about religion. I'm not currently depressed b by it really appreciated the honesty about mental health. PLEASE do more of these together. I believe you two are examples of how people who have different viewpoints can actually coexist. We need more of this in knitting and for sure we need it in America! Thank YOU!
❤❤❤❤❤best podcast of all. Thank you. I am 69 and have been knitting since I was 10. Never steaked, still don't want to. Menopause started at 38, and i tried hormones. I could only use the systemic kind until i was 50. They helped, but nothing helped hot flashes go away completely. I style can have them, but not often. Truly, it felt like I had a disease with a fever when they happened. After 5 years of nothing, my vaginal walls were tearing with entercourse, and my labia would tear with using toilet paper. Horrible pain. So i use vaginal estergan about 2 times per week. Gina, I don't like it sloppy either😅 You are both delightful, and my mood elevated after this. I sure hope there will be more to come. Thank you
I absolutely loved this episode with the two of you. Gina, I love how you are so honest and real. Catie , I’m praying for you to continue feeling good and thank you for sharing with us what you have been going through. I hope y’all do another episode together soon ❤️
OH, MY GOODNESS!!! The second I saw the Cocoknits pattern, I ordered it! Cannot wait to start it. I have 4 other large projects to finish first though. Many thanks!
Pleeaassse go to VKL NYC! I'm going alone and would love to see your happy faces! Catie, I have been where you were and, yes it feels so good to feel good! Thank you for normalizing conversation about mental health ❤
Absolutely loved the candid talk of aging!! I haven't worn a long sleeve shirt/top in over 8 years ...just looking at sweaters and turtlenecks can bring on a hotflash! Sleeveless, light tops with a shrugs...that's been my wardrobe for years (I love to knit, but not sweaters!🥵) And as far as the girlfriend" (love that!) is concerned, "she's" been there, done that and deserves to be taken care of and on luxury vacation--and if she so chooses a 'part time' job here and there!! Loved seeing all the beautiful knits, and Gina you outdid yourself for Advent this year!! FOMO is real!! All the Best in 2024 to you both, and it was so nice to see you Catie!!
Enjoyed the podcast immensely. Can't wait to see you guys podcast in ~10 years when you're about my age now. I'm sure it'll be a hoot! Hope to try your yarn too. Looks wonderful! Happy New Year!
Love you two. I am a Nana to a handsome 6 yr old. He is my joy. My favorite needles are the Melodies interchangeable set (metal) and Takumi (wood). Haven't done a steek (sp?).
OMG!! I always find your podcast such a treat and today was an especially good one since Catie is back! I just admire how fresh and "real" you both are!! I just turned 60 and it was amazing to hear some of what you guys talked about! LOL. Catie - your knitting and your skin are both amazing!!! I would love to meet you both IRL and I wish I had both of you closer to me so we could be friends!! Happy New Year and Hugs from Texas!!
I love that sea glass sweater … my number one favorite yarn of course: always Precious! And love how open you talk about every subject. Another fun episode. I love watching you Gina. It’s like you are right here in my living room. 💖
I love the fearlessness of just talking about what your really think. I have out of the box conversations all the time with the people I feel closest too as well. There are so many opinions about health but, from my own personal experience, sugar always end up making the pores of my face look bigger. Also, "they" tell us that dairy is good and gives us calcium...well, actually dairy leeches calcium out of our bones and if you look at countries that consume the most dairy, their weakness as they age will be brittle bones. Spinach and oranges have tons of calcium. Just thinking about it, cow milk is naturally used to feed a calf which actually turns into a big animal because cow milk has a lot of fat and even cows don't drink milk all of their lives...we're the only animal species who actually consumes milk for the entirety of our life. So yeah, we could just go for 2% or 1% but then that always involve just another process to be added to a product that we consume...like how many processes do we need to add to our food for us to consume?
I feel like you two add great variety to what’s out there in the knitting podcast world. What are you reading? Orthodox Church books. I marveled at the unexpected. Thank you for the pos aft episode.
I'm also knitting the Corrie In Poncho. Blame it on Girl Meets Yarn! She's making two out of two of her mini advents and they are beautiful. Mine is in blues with a silver metallic thread. First time using metallic thread and I love it. Your David Bowie colors are gorgeous! Your poncho will be beautiful. David Bowie was a trend setter. His clothes and hair set new standards. He always looked amazing. And his wife is gorgeous and always dresses so beautiful. I think your colors reflect them beautifully. I am sorry to hear that Signature Arts Needles are out of business. I've only got one set. I love the metal, I love the stiletto points, but they kept coming unscrewed in the middle of a row and I would be dropping stitches. I thought if they had them in fixed, they would be perfect. My actual perfect needle is the Chiao Goo needles. Love them. My final stats for 2023 is 46 things knitted and crochet. And 77 books read. I tried the Fourth Wing and didn't like it. Same with the Sara Maas series, The Court Of Thorne and Roses. I just couldn't get into it. My daughter and daughter in law are reading the Dune series. I read that 30 years ago, but I'm going to read it with them because they are really good. Happy New Year to you both. See you in the New Year and the start of new projects.
Another fun episode! I knit a set of toast with my self striping count down yarn this year! I got a set of the shorties for Christmas from my MIL! Can’t wait to use them!! I steeked for the first time last year and it was so freeing!! I made a seaglass last year too and yes it was a true accomplishment! But I love wearing it!
I did HRT (pellets inserted in butt cheek every 4 months). I had good energy, but the facial hair became too much. I stopped it and don't really notice a difference. Gina you make me laugh so hard, I love how blunt you are! Really happy to see you again, Catie!
I ALWAYS love my time here😝 I always say it's the "proverbial they". So glad you said it about Fourth Wing. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it. There was a minute where I was invested, but it went away fairly quickly. As soon as they went to the wargames I was totally checked out. Dumb. I want to know Gina's 5 out of 5's.
What a treat to hang out with you before the new year! I squealed when I saw you on my notifications. Love the knits and thanks for the laugh out loud moments……. so fun! Happy New Year 2024!
So grateful to start the new year seeing the two of you together and all the beautiful knits! Catie, how beautiful are your sweaters!! Love seeing your color combinations! Thank you both for your time, honesty, and, of course, knitting inspiration!
I’m a fairly new watcher but Gina you are a treasure! I love how you keep it real and I love your friend Catie! I’m 52 and in the same season of life. Catie- my family is Roman Catholic but my oldest child converted to the Russian Orthodox church a few years ago and it has been such a gift for him. I hope you can do more podcasts together in the future!
Welcome back Catie, glad you’re feeling better. Gina is fabulous on her own but the banter-camaraderie just makes this the ultimate girlfriend hangout.
Love that you are back together for an episode.....so lovely. Happy New Year! (description of hot flashes=truth!) The talk about hormones, and menopause, etc.....true and helpful.
Great podcast Gina. I want to caution you about HRT. I had a DVT in 1997 that at the time the doctor said wasn’t from the hormones, but later studies revealed that these events were known side effects. Hopefully HRT has been reformulated, but I’d check it out. Giving myself shots for a month wasn’t fun, nor was having my blood work done weekly.
Happy new year ladies. What a great show the content was inspiring, funny and all around a great show. I personally love Catie’s sweater, that color combo… chefs kiss. Hope y’all get together again soon, we need more of these podcasts. Space see you next time.🥰
Loved this so much! The first time I ever watched your TH-cam, Gina, was when the two of you were together in what I now realize was your shop. ❣️Gorgeous stuff, too!
Love this podcast style. Glad to have found you ladies. In answer to your question, I am so far in the "never steeked before" club. Not sure if I'll get brave enough to try it this year or not. We'll see. :)
I had tried HRT in my 50s and stopped when it restarted periods!!! To me the less drugs we take the better we are. I take anti depression and blood pressure meds. You guys are so talented and fun to watch
LisaR- Catie, love your gorgeous knitting - the colors are so Good!!The HRT / sunscreen chat?my knitting got "watered" . Great friendship is priceless!
It was so nice to spend time with Catie! I love the chat! Gina, have you watched the New Pope with Jude Law? There's a second season too, and I thought it was great. Suits is also an amazing show. All the best! Hugs! Kimberly
Did the EZ green sweater and the In the mood for Maybe sweater. The best yarn for a steek is 100% wool. Some of my friends did the In the mood for maybe sweater in super wash and some of them fell apart Yikes!
Nice to see you both. My sweaters are also too hot. I’ve been making shrugs and cowls. I’ve been watching FX shows on Hulu. You might like those: Culprits, Tyrant etc. Thanks to you and Catie for sharing with us. 💕🌸
Thanks for making me smile! So many lovely projects! I believe genes play a very important role in how young or old you look! I know people younger than me that looks much older and I’m not using HRT😀
Thank you for sharing about hot flashes. Mine feel like the onset of a panic attack before I turn bright red and sweaty. I had never heard of anyone else experiencing these same symptoms. You ladies were cracking me up...a much needed laugh.
I love addis too! The problem with Chiao Goo is that not all the cables fit all the sizes of needles and I have trouble with the cables coming unscrewed.
I think it was Glam rock, not punk rock. Punk came in the 90’s when my kids were teenagers. Bowie started in 71 for me. HRT, Ugg! However it saved me. I wear an estradiol patch .05 mgs. I honestly wouldn’t want to be without. I had a full hysterectomy so I went into hard core night sweats and horrid hot flashes. I would not sleep at all without the patches. FUN FUN episode, laughed so hard. 😂😊🎉❤ Happy New Year ladies.
I'd keep going thru the advent with skinny stripes as you get to the bottom. Yeah, it's scrappy-looking but that's part of the charm! I just got an amazing needle set from Atelier in San Francisco- beautiful, lovely to work with, and reasonably priced. So great!
Fun Podcast. I had enough of hot flashes after 8 years of them. I am wearing estradiol patch and taking progesterone. No more heart flashes! I also never slept well and I’m happy to be able to finally sleep. For your face make sure you use glycolic acid, vitamin C and retinol. And sunscreen.
You two are AWESOME! So I’m gonna offer some HRT unsolicited advice (I am an RN of other 30 yrs); a magnesium supplement (400-500mg) at bedtime (started with one then went to two eventually) helped my hot flashes SOOOOO MUCH! Worked for like 5 years & I, too, take other meds. I DO now (after almost 20 years of nothing from a total hysterectomy) take 1mg estradiol & it’s been LIFE CHANGING. Not kidding!!!! ☺️🫶🏻🧶 hugs! Lisa in Ohio
I'm gonna try this. I need more info tho. Can u point me in the right rabbithole to go down?!?!? Thx for comme ting. I'm not good at keeping up with replies, I need to do better.
Gina, this was a great podcast! So nice to see Catie. ❤ Loved seeing your knits. I attempted the sea glass and lost interest at the sleeve split. Hot flashes were a bear for me. I recall the year I stopped wearing turtle neck sweaters. I live in the Midwest and went an entire winter without a coat…that’s how warm I was. Fifteen years later, if I have a cocktail or eat too much sugar, I have a hot flash. I was not interested in taking hormones; I preferred to let nature do its thing.
Go for the HRT , I finally had to give it up at 70 and I’d rather have kept taking it but I was getting cysts in my breasts which was apparently caused by them. However the one I took was Estrace which derives from plant sources not horse pee. Loved seeing all the gorgeous knitting and adored listening to you talk about everything, thank you sooooo much. 🥰🥰🙋🏼♀️
LisaR; Gina, totally off knitting topic- but just wanted you to know - the first thought I had was you look so refreshed & young .. We're about the same age-so I get feeling "old lady " some days -You're not even close ! Agree - would do baby days again :)
New to the podcast- please inform Catie to look at the cholesterol (statin drug ) and the side effects. I’ve experienced depression being on cholesterol meds- more than once. I think (I’m not a doctor just a woman who had this experience) the cholesterol meds gave me bad anxiety. How did I identify it was those meds? They were the only meds I was taking! And it lists depression as a side effect.
Hi Catie! Nice to see you! For me, the hardest part of peri Menopause has been my face breaking out with these tiny red and painful pimples but they aren't like normal pimples that you can pop. They HURT like a MFer. I keep switching my cleanser and nothing is working. Got any advice for that oh wise ones? ;)
I use cerave line of products. I also use a retinoid, occasionally. Sadly, laser treatment is what is the best. It's wicked expensive. I only did it when I worked for an mds office that had a side hustle with apl lasers and when someone was training I git free treatments
I will settle the David Bowie debate. He was not punk. I’m 70 and was there when he came on the scene. 😊 I never did HRT, mainly because it feeds some cancers, particularly breast. I’ve gotten off all scrips by changing my diet to plant based. My cholesterol dropped almost 100 points, off bp meds, lost 35 lbs, and heartburn totally gone. Unfortunately, doctors aren’t taught nutrition in med school. 😊
I am so grateful to Catie and others sharing a little of their struggles with mental health. I had no idea how many women this impacted. I learn so much more than knitting from all these podcasts - the true meaning of community. :)
Thank you so much for showing all of this wonderful stuff! Both of you are sooooo inspiring and makes me want to dig in my stash and go crazy!!!
Can't say this enough -- the two of you are yarn podcast gold. I'm not religious but appreciated the talk about religion. I'm not currently depressed b by it really appreciated the honesty about mental health. PLEASE do more of these together. I *think* Gina is going. Don't hold her to it. I just can't get out os teaching. The principals frown on fun activities is! 😂😂🤪
Great podcast. Thank you Catie for sharing your struggles. You look amazing. Good to see you guys back together. Always get a good laugh.

The Elizabeth Zimmerman sweater is STUNNING!! No steeking over here… 👀. Thank you for sharing about your church.
I was a Lykke fan until the Lantern Moon came out - they are my absolute favourite wooden needles!
Enjoyed the podcast immensely. Can't wait to see you guys podcast in ~10 years when you're about my age now. I'm sure it'll be a hoot! Hope to try your yarn too. Looks wonderful! Happy New Year!

Those 2 variegated yarns of the sweater Catie is wearing are GORGEOUS together!!-- such an inspired combination!!😍
Yay! The girls are back!

Welcome back Catie, glad you’re feeling better. Gina is fabulous on her own but the banter-camaraderie just makes this the ultimate girlfriend hangout.
Absolutely love you two together. My favorite test knit was Catie’s Xando Cowl - I knit three of them during the test. Great projects, fun friendship!
I'd forgotten that. Would you believe that I dont remember a lot of my designs? Depression is a thief and a liar
Glad she’s back!
I so enjoyed this episode!! ❤💐
You two are so fun and real! Thank you! God bless you and your families in the new year!!! Hope to see you together again soon ❤
Love that you are back together for an episode.....so lovely. Happy New Year! (description of hot flashes=truth!) The talk about hormones, and menopause, etc.....true and helpful.
Love the two of you!
Great podcast Gina. I want to caution you about HRT. You 2 are the best, most entertaining tag team on TH-cam! Please keep it going. 😊
Best episode ever!
Your advent colors are soooo good in the poncho
I had tried HRT in my 50s and stopped when it restarted periods!!! To me the less drugs we take the better we are. I take anti depression and blood pressure meds. You guys are so talented and fun to watch
The best podcast I have seen in a long time Thank you
Awwww! Thank you! ❤
It’s so good to see you together. Kathie I wish you the best… mental health is a struggle for some many people ❤
I do love peace fleece and other, sheepy wool. It’s the best for steeking- which I also love. Fun episode and beautiful knitting.
🫶❤️🥰😘😉 happy new year!! Thanks for the chuckles ladies. (We love you Katie…)

Hugs! Kimberly
Love this podcast! I always watch but this was special! And I love my adventure!!!
Love you all!

Happy New Year from Skipton, North Yorkshire, saving this gem for my chilli out morning tomorrow 🎉❤
Thank you for sharing about hot flashes. Mine feel like the onset of a panic attack before I turn bright red and sweaty. I had never heard of anyone else experiencing these same symptoms. You ladies were cracking me up...a much needed laugh.
So good to see you Catie. Im doing my first steek with the festive yoke cardigan. Scary for sure.
Yayyyyy.... what a continuous Merry 6th Day of Christmas!
I love addis too! The problem with Chiao Goo is that not all the cables fit all the sizes of needles and I have trouble with the cables coming unscrewed.
I love the poncho! I would dye more yarn and use the stripe order you already have! Love Addi needles!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ this episode
What an interesting friendly podcast.
David Bowie King of Glam Rock! Rebel, rebel!
Yes! Glam Rock was on the tip of my tongue!!!! 😅
Hi from Martinsville VA. Wool and Company sells Berroco ❤
Great podcast!

I just got an amazing needle set from Atelier in San Francisco- beautiful, lovely to work with, and reasonably priced. So great!
Ive done a stee. It was easy peasy.

MUST do that again! ❤️
I really liked the BOOK Lessons in Chemistry. The limited series was okay, but the book was great.

Loved seeing all the gorgeous knitting and adored listening to you talk about everything, thank you sooooo much. 🥰🥰🙋🏼♀️
Entertaining AND educational! 😂
LisaR; Gina, totally off knitting topic- but just wanted you to know - the first thought I had was you look so refreshed & young .. We're about the same age-so I get feeling "old lady " some days -You're not even close ! Agree - would do baby days again :)
I’ve steeked 3 sweaters ❤ your show
New to the podcast- please inform Catie to look at the cholesterol (statin drug ) and the side effects. I’ve experienced depression being on cholesterol meds- more than once. I think (I’m not a doctor just a woman who had this experience) the cholesterol meds gave me bad anxiety. How did I identify it was those meds? They were the only meds I was taking! And it lists depression as a side effect.
Catie, Check out the 'Alaska Sweater" pattern. Just what you described.
On it. Ravelry? Just looked at it. Looks like a Catie sweater to me! Thx. I'd have never seen it if u hadn't said something
I have not done a steek yet, but working on one right now!
finish off with solid black! that's my suggestion.
So glad you are back! Love "guests"!!! Is day 25 for sale? LOVE ❤
Yes it is! The link is in my show notes. Thank you! ⭐️😘

Hello, my name is Monica and I am a Signature Needle addict! FYI they still have some merchandise for sale.
Really!??+?+?+
A Marathon 😂 ❤
No no no . . . . you DO NOT want to use superwash to steek. It's the sticky wool that makes steeks so doable. Love your podcast!
@@catielong420 I actually used the Cerave acne cleanser and had a bad reaction to it. my face itched really badly for 3 days! it was horrible.
