    Finally an actual hoarding case. Every other video on TH-cam is like a couple tshirts on the floor and a few dishes in the sink and people call it “extreme cleaning”

    You are amazing! I have struggled with clutter and disorganization since I was a child. And the worst is the shame! I am very organized when completing mental or paperwork tasks. But at 65 I have been stuck especially since I recovered from covid in 2020. The anxiety is terrible. I live alone and of course never have anyone over but I rent so I MUST overcome. I have no one except God to ask for help.

    • @LiveItLikeLisa

      Don’t ever feel shame lovely. Nobody is perfect and most people can 100% relate to clutter, mess and being disorganised especially me. You can do it lovely, and I think living alone can sometimes make it easier as there’s no one else to mess things up once you have organised them. Take baby steps, tackle one small area at a time and follow the steps in the video and I promise before you know it you will have done it. Start small, take baby steps but keep moving forward. You will do it.

    I lived in a house full of clutter and I quit my job so that I could take care of it because I needed to give my whole focus. I spent days doing nothing but sort through junk. I got rid of sooo much stuff, like entire rooms full of stuff. This was after slowly tackling the junk for years previously. I moved to a smaller house (got a different job) and what I’ve discovered is that I need to do another full home declutter because decluttering is a process. Removing clutter takes so much weight off you and I’m becoming more of a minimalist. It makes you think about what you really value or what you really need and you let go of a lot of emotional baggage as well.

    • @LiveItLikeLisa
      @LiveItLikeLisa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh I totally agree with you lovely!! And yes it’s definitely an on going process that we need to revisit often before we get to consumed by it all again. I’m constantly decluttering rooms and getting rid of stuff I haven’t used for so long. And trying hard not to buy new things I don’t really need is also a challenge. I hope this video helped a little. Xxx

    This is exactly how my place ended up after my mum died a few months back. I am only now just getting my self back on track, creating a clean home again to help which is helping with grieving. I use to do the clean and declutter so much before mums illness and my place was spotless. During her sickness and when she died my motivation went. Just trying to get my shit together now for solace.

    • @LiveItLikeLisa
      @LiveItLikeLisa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Oh I am so sorry about your mum but I totally understand. I was exactly the same when my mum died. I just lost all motivation to do anything, thinking why bother we are going to die anyway and was in quite a lonely place at the time. But then I thought my mum wouldn’t want to see me living like this, she would want me to be happy and living a good life and being happy doing the things I enjoy. And slowly I started getting myself back together. And also focusing on something that I enjoy like cleaning and organising helped to get my mind back into a happier place too and I felt that sense of achievement again in enjoying my home and surroundings. I know you will find it too. Xx😘🌼

      @@LiveItLikeLisa Thank you for replying. I have been watching similar videos for about a month now via others and had written something similar. You are the only one that took the time and effort to actually reply. I really appreciate this and the time you have taken to reply with what you have written as I can fully relate. (Sorry for your loss, whether past or present.) I was talking aloud to my mum at home when my place was a complete mess saying, now mum I will sort it out, as like you said you knew your mum wouldn't want that for you, same here. Finally I got up and did something 3 weeks back, very small steps as you suggested and it began from there. In my 3rd week now and can see all the small steps taken finally paying off. Glad I made the start like you said in your video, but as you know really hard to get motivated initially. Anyway onwards and up to create a home again I was proud of and can enjoy once more. Even threw out old rugs and bought some new ones to freshen up the place. Not putting those out until everywhere spotless. Thank you Lisa. I will be re-tuning in with you very regularly and have subscribed. Stay blessed and stay safe through these strange times. 🙂xx

    This was really helpful. I’ve done the piles for years but clearly I’ve been doing it wrong. I tend to organize the entire room and then deal with the piles. Then trying to deal with the keep things to put away is just as overwhelming. Doing the entire process, on a smaller scale, everyday makes so much more sense.

      I used to watch a lot of the hoarding shows, especially the one ( I think it was based some where in the U.K.)where they pair up an extreme neat OCD type with people like me, that one is the best as both parties seem to help each other tremendously, physically and most of all emotionally and both usually come away with new ways of thinking and tackling their pain/ issues.
      I'm going to get back into your video now soon as I hit send, please pray for me that I may finally be able to empty at least 1 box a day, it's taken about 4 yrs to get this way so I know it will take awhile to not look like the 800 got junk trucks didn't recently drop off things here from 20 episodes of Hoarders 😮😬.

    Thank you for this excellent video. We have one room left to renovate in our house and it has become the dumping ground for all our crap. Your first tip particularly helped me because now I can get started, knowing that I don’t have to finish the room in a day (phew!). AND, as I have to deal with the piles before I finish, I’m not making the mess worse - which is what usually happens.
    Your comment about the shopping bags is particularly relatable; we use cloth bags, which SHOULD be put back in the car, but never are 😱

Ive worked with the "Pile" system before but have never done/finished a session of decluttering with your action plan ie 3 piles outside room must get sorted before you finish a session, Lisa that is a brilliant idea and I totally get it & see how it can work as inspiration to continue the next session, to see & know that those 3 outside piles have been sorted & dealt with is very uplifting & rewarding.... Brilliant thanks soooo much for sharing your tips loving your videos as always Big Hugs from Lisa in Oxford UK xxx

    I have an even bigger mess, went through a long depression and literally have a massive pile that WAS up to window height, it is disappearing slowly. I am just cramming everything I want gone in bags and throwing the stuff I want in the corner, I will sort the stuff I want later, just getting the rubbish into bags is the biggest priority as that is what is slowly giving me parts of my floor back.

    This is exactly how I tackled my first big declutter in a studio apartment. My mess is more manageable and I am able to clean each room in a circle (The center of each room is usually clean because it's a walkway lol). Working on starting and finishing it now (I.E. taking stuff to storage and the such).
    Edit: I'm no longer in the studio, but it was as large as this room. 1 bedroom now : ).

    Thank you so much for this video it’s helps a lot🥹 a lot of the cleaning videos I see have like one towel on the ground and some dishes so it’s very helpful to see a video that I can actually use to help me clean. If you don’t mind I do have a question though! I’m watching this video for my mom she’s a hoarder-but the issue with her hoard is, that it doesn’t have much trash and rotting things like the hoarders you see in tv, in other words she has a clean hoard. I’m trying to clean it for her as she is too sick to do it herself, but I’m finding trouble cleaning it because I can’t give anything away as it’s not my stuff and i always get so overwhelmed. Do you have any more tips that I can use to organize this house( all of the rooms are pretty much cluttered) without giving anything away to make it look sort of like a grocery store all organized? Thank you so much again in advance finally cleaning this house as it’s been messy for many years would mean a lot to me and my mom❤❤

    Yes! How to maintain a clean house? I mostly got myself there as of Wednesday. It's hard to keep up the momentum and work when it just feels messy again. We are trying to make the best out of a smaller home as well. Any tips for someone who gets distracted easily and uses the Fly Lady system? I still struggle with motivation and don't know how to get my space picture perfect and clean. Despite the amount of videos and research I've done on my own, I'm still falling short of where I want to be.

    • @LiveItLikeLisa
      @LiveItLikeLisa  ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest tip I can give from experience is to declutter. The less ‘stuff’ you have the easier it is to maintain a tidy house. I got rid of so much stuff throughout my own home and I find now each room that less than half the time to clean, it surprised me just how much time it saves me. Work on small areas of you house first like a drawer or cupboard something not to overwhelming and build on that each day or each week. I would spend 30min every day to organise and declutter a space in my house and most of the time I would be so into the task at hand I would end up spending more than 30mins but before you know it you will see the progress you are making. But biggest thing is to get rid of all the excess stuff you don’t need.

    I just started your Video & can use all the Help/Ideas that I can get. I'm always so Anxious & Stressed out, that I can't figure out how to quiet my Mind & Tackle Things I need to go Through, get Rid of, Keep, etc. It becomes too Overwhelming & I give up. Which, then it's worse, bc I started on it & now it's a more Widespread Mess, VS Localized. UGH!!! 🤞🤞
    For People to understand how this happens, the only way that I can explain it, is that the Area around you USUALLY Reflects how you feel on the inside. So, a Chaotic Living Space is usually a Pretty Good indicator of a Chaotic Mind. 💙🦋💜

    My family is forcing me to get out clutter/craft room that had up to my waist in random stuff that falls into the craft/office supply/art stuff, a lot of which is just clutter from old school work, to crafts that we expect to do soon, that end up never being done for over a year. I only have one day because if I don't finish it then my parents aren't going to get the money they need from the Inspectors. I'm under a lot of stress rn. I just sweeper everything out of the room and set some boxes up, but it's still ankle high and covers my entire upstairs hallway. Living with and being a hoarder is honestly the one thing keeping anyone from my house from being happy

    I am back watching your old video. You helped me so much to get back on track after my mums death. Unfortunately I have slipped back into clutter and mess, not something that would ever have happened prior mums death. I got back on track through watching your video and then I am in turmoil someone that is pure EVIL 😈 💀 destroying my peace for their guilt, they have affected my life as O knew it in the most catastrophic way, destroyed my new employment and ruined a lot of what I had built because of their guilt. Thanks for this video. It truly helped me the way you explained it and the way you did it. I really appreciate it a lot. Wow, we had no plastic bags for about 3 years in my city in the US. Then, we got plastic bags back this year. People thought it was strange when they traveled here. That they had to buy reusable shopping bags. I remember when it first started I had no bags and I didn't buy any bags either. I bought groceries home in the car and got home and brought bags out to the car and put the groceries in the bags to bring them in the house, hahaha.
