I am growing all of these, but I don't have nearly enough space for the numbers of plants you can grow. Ive also found that small berry-like fruit trees bear throughout the year better than the big fruit trees. These include acerola, peanutbutter fruit (Bunchosia), and carambola, but these are probably 3 to 4 year fruits.
In limited space we would reduce the numbers as well. Thanks for mentioning berry-like fruits, we also grow a few - still waiting for the first fruits🍓🫐🍒
It can be surprising how many of these plants can fit between our fruit trees. We plant very densely and in time the growing big fruit trees will take their space.
@@FruitForest.CostaRica I use the same strategy on a smaller scale: the peanut butter fruit bush and carambola shade the young chempejack, but it will soon overtake them. Pineapples grow in the shade of mangos and avocados. The productivity of each plant is lower, but the overall productivity and diversity of the overall space increases.
We are now responsible for a neglected 80 acre farm in Costa Rica nungle . we are trying to eat off the land. Any ideas what else may be ripe now in dry season? We have cocoa banana and some type of "apple" also no I but we are not attracted to it.
Generally the main season for fruits is during wet season. Pineapple, papaya, banana, mango, snakefruit fruits during dry season. On a neglected land we would look for citrus trees, heart of palm, coconuts, cacaos and edible tropical tubers. This is the best time to harvest roots like tarot, yam, sweet potato, cassava, etc.
@@FruitForest.CostaRica thank you so much for that information! The mangoes have no fruit but we will look for more tubers we got some type of potato so far :).

Sounds amazing🤗 Our waterapple also started to ripen😋
what do you mean by 50 per person?
We plant 50 plants per person to be self sustaining in 2 years on a fruit based high raw diet.
