  • Lol well adding things like AC helped... real radios... power seats! comfort...
    Slowly car makers realized people wanted a truck with options... and gave them better rides also.

    Now it's the customer who is stuck with a truck because that's about all some of these auto manufacturers are building! Sigh! 😐

    Today, a lot of dealers are stuck with hundreds of trucks. It doesn't look like any of them have an 8-foot bed, an L6 engine or a standard cab.

    As someone who never thought I’d own a truck, after getting my F-150 I couldn’t imagine owning anything else now. I now understand why they sell so many trucks these days.

      They were not selling many in those days. Trucks were not luxury vehicles then. They were made for work.

    Lol I have a 69 C10… It’s funny, that’s when trucks were trucks back in the day. Now we have trucks, but more refined with better interiors then most cars…lol

    My Dad bought a brand new '69 C-20 in '69. Traded his '65 C-20. That '69 2wd had a 307 and a 4-gear stick w/ grandma gear. It made easily 100+ trips from grandpas farm to Dads new farm (88 miles)hauling anything and pulling a 16' heavy tilt trailer loaded with Anything that needed to be taken from one farm to the other.
    I drove it to school when I first got my license.
    Dollar for Dollar there isnt a new model that could handle what it did.

      Interesante y que padre que una C20 usara un motor 307, creí que solo era para C10.

    This was amusing! I had a bare bones basic Chevy C/10 with long bed, 250 six, three on the tree, painted metal plate in the painted metal dash, where a radio could have gone. But that truck did a LOT of work, rode well, and was easy to maintain. Even now, I have a 1986 F250 and a 1982 GMC C2500.

    On another site someone said "a Chevy truck (from this era) was a vehicle, a Ford truck was an implement."

    • @briang4470
      @briang4470 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They probably said that because the Chevy/GMC trucks of that time typically rode/drive a lot nicer than the fords of that time. Because of that the Chevy trucks made for decent work trucks and could be used as a normal vehicle and still be comfortable to drive, where the Ford's were very rough riding but were heavy duty and still made for a very tough work truck at the cost of poor ride quality.

      @@briang4470 not true..the fords of this era rode well ...and the ford had more room in the cab area

      @@user-bm8ei5ub1c I was never a fan of the "twin i-beam" suspension in those trucks. The bushings would wear out in the radius arms all the time and if the alignment wasn't 100% spot on, they would destroy front tires like crazy. And in my experience the Ford's of that era I have rode in , rode like garbage, if it was 4 wheel drive, it didn't matter what brand the truck was it was going to ride rough but in the 2wd trucks i prefer the Chevy style front suspension.

      Ford trucks were fine but they seemed old timey compared the the GM and Dodge offerings until their new 1980 model.

      I’ve owned trucks for the better part of fifty years, it would be hard to be without one. My neighbor told me for many years that he would never have one. Somehow he decided to buy one. That was 15 years ago and he’s had it ever since.
