Blast shower also removes nearby projectiles, so if you time it right (or get enough gesture of the drowned) its basically captain's microbots for any character. Blast shower is genuinely great, and not enough people know about it.
Basically when you drown your clover in liquid nitrogen. And then you shot it with a shotgun because GOT it is TERRIBLE unless you're in the perfect situation.

Purity is probably pretty good in MP. One player (Commando, Merc, Loader, Artificer) takes all the purities, and no chance based items. Other characters take the proc chains.
I feel like purity is underrated on the new mercenary, just slap one on and you can hold rightclick and bayblade your way through mobs forever. Not to mention with the new passive and slicing winds, you can become ultimate ninja chopping through everyone with giant bursts.
The basic idea with Purity is to take it on Survivors who A. Have abilities in their kit that can reach that .5 second minimum cooldown after a SINGLE stack of Purity or B. Can somewhat ignore the downside of -1 luck by merit of not being very good with Proc chains to begin with. It's also worth noting that on a regular Monsoon or Eclipse run, how much purity effects you is based SOLELY on the items you currently have and which items you would expect to get going forward. It's a good decision point lunar, since it gives you a VERY potent immediate effect (if you aren't already loaded up with Ukelele's and ATGs) at the cost of changing which greens you can print / take from tri-terminals in the future. Put another way, if you do take Purity you then need to move as fast as possible through each and every stage since you won't be able to guarantee a higher total dps from those eventual ATG and Uke drops, lowering the overall item value per stage. And one last note, while it's pretty obvious given the two above conditions that you absolutely should take Purity on specifically Loader, Artificer and Acrid, I'd actually say that there are other survivors who you CAN take it on somewhat consistently, albeit at a much higher trade off: -Huntress (when using Strafe and NOT Flurry) can take Purity to both reduce the time between Glaive + Backup Mag stacks and set Phase Blink to the .5 second minimum, DRASTICALLY increasing your movement speed and map traversal if taken early enough. -BOTH of Mercenaries Secondaries reach the .5 second minimum after a single purity, making combo's much easier to maintain and stack while also letting you cheese either infinite jumps or infinite air time. Less time between both Eviscerates AND Slicing Winds also helps A LOT early on. -Engineer can sometimes take it so long as you've opted to go with Harpoons instead of the bubble. It also doesn't hurt Visions too too bad either, provided you can mitigate the luck loss with either extra item stacks or you know, just... Yolo into a Clover :P
For most of your damage/group killing having a few Wisps and sacrificing your AtG and Uku will instantly kill everything. It is one of those things that in the situation AtG is useful a Wisp and Voodoo Doll does the AtG infinitely better. The DPS isn't an issue if you have bleeds which max out quickly and attack speed as well. Basically the AtG/Uku benefits quickly fall off versus stacking other items which provide a constant and bigger effect.

Woolie Mentions it in this video, but the big selling point is that AtG and Uke can actually proc OTHER on hit item effects cause each of their "attacks" also have their own proc coefficient. That's what a "Proc Chain" is: one item triggering on hit triggering the rest of your on hit which trigger the rest of your on hits ad infinitum. Not only that, but Will o' Wisp only works off of BASE DAMAGE, while Uke and AtG both use TOTAL damage (or the damage done by the hit that triggered them, modifiers items and crits INCLUDED), meaning you'd need to continually keep stacking wisp to get close to the total damage output that just one or two Uke's and AtG's can provide late game. Will o' Wisps are great for rushing early, but their effectiveness vastly drops off on Monsoon and Eclipse around stage 3 or 4 on everything but Command runs, and on Command almost anything is viable if you stack enough of it. Check out Woolie's item tier list for more details on this as it's pretty thorough with how each green compares.

So one way I like to think of the luck stat is to think of it like advantage from DND, You roll dice equal to your luck stat if it's a positive number, then you will have advantage, if it's a negative number, it's disadvantage. It makes explaining it a lot easier and it's nice
Another nice way to rely to purity is using the harvester scythe and infinite Ocular HDU, that combo is similar to a Masive leech efect but with aditional crit. At least in mercenary works very good.
I'll be honest I think Purity is legitimately the most interesting lunar item in the game. It has a very strong positive effect, and a very strong negative effect, it just feels like it follows the design philosophy of lunar items far better then the rest of them.
yeah, most other lunars are either just good (a glass in a god run doesn't matter when anything will 1hit slap you regardless of hp) or just bad (corpsebloom, ugh)

It’s been fun messing around with purity merc. Just use your R skill to get around and you are virtually unkillable. Gets boring after a while but it’s fun for a bit!
I like the definition a friend gave me. Basically thing of it as a roll of a dice. if you get a 1 whatever you're proccing happens. if its any other number nothing happens. +1 luck means if it rolls on any number that isn't one you get to roll the dice again. And vice versa for negative luck and negative effects.
Woolie, try stacking capped crit on Mercenary, prioritise attack speed (choose mostly Predatory Insticts) and after capping the crit try stacking Soldier's syringe (play with command artifact as well, then stack 5 purities and u can spam R nonstop
the 57 leaf clover is actually 1 leaf more than the world record right now, therefore making it the luckiest clover in existence , the devs sure did do their research
i just had a run with engineer where my first two items were a hardlight afterburner and a purity, and having instant recharging harpoons is incredible. they have such long range and never miss AND they set off bands too. it became my primary attack for that run

I'll just mention that the lower the proc chance of something is, the higher the effect of purity and clover. But while for clover it is linear (at 1 stack, slightly exponential for more), for purity, it's exponential. With a clover, you are 1.95, 1.9, 1.85, 1.8, 1.75, 1.5, and 1.25 times as likely to get a proc at 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 50%, and 75% proc chance. With a purity, you are 20, 10, 6⅔, 5, 4, 2, and 1⅓ times less likely to get a proc at 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 50%, and 75% proc chance. Exact formula for clover: (1 - (1 - x)^(y + 1)) / x, where x = proc chance, y = clovers (note: with 1 clover, this is simply 2 - x) For purity: 1 / x^y, where x = proc chance, y = purities
I like purity on merc because it's a nice and simple way to get complete invincibility if you spam eviscerate, and then I can grab as much glass as I want because I wont take any damage anyways.
I'm still a fan of one stack on triple blink huntress. It does hurt her damage, but the ability to blink constantly is great, plus it also helps her glaives a lot.
It is worth noting, Luck only really effects the following items you care about: Uku, AtG, and Molten Perforator. Everything else is either not a damage increase, Ghost, or has 100% alternatives with Stealth Kit being the major exemption being based on the % of health damage you took. This is to say... luck is pretty weak especially since the bands were removed from Luck. While it is useful at low stacks... so is a Soldier's Syringe which gets you more hits and procs or any red item which adds more hits. Clovers are great when you have 1 of an item but once you start getting stacks or find a printer they become rather weak. For every clover you get is a missed meat hook which has an flat additional chance to proc literally everything against multiple targets due to being multi-hit or really any red item with a proc chance. Since scrap was introduced and you can throw off things like an AtG for 100% effective items it really hurt the Clover's viability and use compared to other legendary items.
Purity turns Acrid's ranged right click down to 0.5 territory. Since he can also sprint and spit while running, he can become a pseudo Huntress with just it alone, which is funny.
Man, my first go at Mithrix, blind, huntress monsoon with tonic and clover saved me, I read comments of people who had anywhere from 10 to 20+ afflictions upon going off the effect of tonic and me thanks to clover had three when my items were taken from me.
it's funny to stack purities with acrid and his alternative passive (not the poison one, but the other), if you manage to perma shoot the secondary or the R, it makes a decent amount of damage.
I've been having a fun time testing purity builds more specifically with the engi with mobile turrets and uhh visions of heresy? (the thing that changes your primary attack) i thiiink it lowers the cooldown on it
I don't care what anyone says Purity Acrid with Visions is fucking insanely fun and I think very good. You get infinite shots of both visions and your acid spit at the same time. If you get good stacks too Purity barely hurts
As a merc main I enjoy getting max crit and shatterspleen and then stacking 5 purities and a bunch of attack speed to just use my ult and stack 200 bleed on an enemy
Another way to think about it (for D&D players) is that 57 Leaf Clover gives advantage, and Purity gives disadvantage. *Unlike D&D* though, you do need to cancel each instance of advantage and disadvantage until you can determine which there is more of.
The way I think about luck is this: +1 luck makes unlikely results almost twice as likely, but does almost nothing to already likely results. -1 luck makes unlikely results MUCH less likely, but does almost nothing al already likely results. +2 luck or above: who cares everything happens all the time and you're winning super hard
I have been stuck in Bulwarks Ambry for 9 hours because I picked up 7 purities and never got an artifact key to drop. So Luck does effect the drop rate of artifact keys.
Commando: basically gets a new primary Huntress: triple blink is funni (and so is flight with glaves and arrow rain/ballista Multi: haha car go brrrr Engineer: Explosives expert and becomes a mother spider (Thermal harpoons and spider mines become your new primary) Artificer: *DRONE STRIKE NOISES* or someone straight out of an anime (depending on if you're using flame throwing or ion surge. Nano spear is also pretty nice but not as useful for spamming out.) Mercenary: Haha I-frame go brrrr (alternatively become anime swordsman with slicing winds and also flight with rising thunder but becoming a beyblade is also fun plus blinding assult already has your movement covered) REX: Unless you're using directive skills specifically for purity I don't advise taking it. Loader: Ever heard of spiderman? And the hulk too? Yeah that's Loader. Acrid: Acrid nooo you can't just use chemicals to wipe the entire enemy forces that's against the Geneva convention nooo Haha m2+r go brrrr (Also take visions with you its absolutly worth it to become full ranged acrid) Captain: Did you ever want to see the us military? No? Too bad.

Hey Mr. Streamer, serious question. How good would you say Purity is on Artificer? Artificer already doesn’t scale all to well with traditional itemization, and the flat cool down reduction would be great for improving her basic attack timing. That’s just my theory craft on the matter though - I have yet to get a Purity on the jet pack gal to test it myself
I know I'm hella late, but I just tested this today after finally unlocking Purity. Two Purity gives her essentially seven shots of M1, with another one every half second. 3 negates the cooldown of her M2, and gives her other abilities respectable recovery.
You're going to love this. This is loader in my normal state. *Pshh* This is with an alien head. *Washooom* ...and this is with another red item known as hardlight afterburner. It's an even stronger increase to my mobility and power. _and this...!_ *Equips purity* _IS... I mean if you get will of the wisp, bonus damage to close enemies, death mark and a few statues effect items you just melt everything on monsoon. It’s just too easy and gets super boring.
I had some nice run going on on monsoon with captain and as soon as i took purity for logbook, my run turned into sluggish fight then i was forced to obliterate by that
Question: Is it intended how fuel cell charges are kept after they are taken, if all of the charges are regenerated? Edit: I mean whether they are taken by 3d printers, scrappers, cauldrons, or Mithrix.
@baliflyboy the calculation for rolling multiple times to get a binary result is 1-(1-p)^n, where p is the probability of success, and n is the number of trials. That number can be any number, and doesn't have to be an integer. (If luck is negative the calculation changes to p^n)
@baliflyboy computationally, this way is cheaper. You might want to roll once, and then n-1 times to see if the little sound effect plays, but there is no advantage to rolling like 3 times and generating 3 distinct random numbers.
But, if you have an items with a high chance of succeeding (say 9 tri-tip daggers), purity wouldn't hurt the RNG very much. Rolling twice on something that's a 90% chance will most likely just hit anyways. Purity would bring that down to an 81% chance, which is still really high. So, I would say take purity if you a high chance effect, as almost every character can benefit from low cooldowns.
I stacked Purity one time on Huntress. I didnt even move I just spammed her Ballista Shot and Ricochet Boomerang thingy. Was it good? Probably not. But I had fun.

I had a bandit run in which I had 2 purity an alien head for constant ability up time I used no proc items jud base damage upgrades and wreched mythic easily (he didn't hit me once)

Purity is basically "I don't need luck, I HAVE FAST"
I mean if your loader and have bands it is pretty damn good
Think about it like this, for all you DnD nerds. Being lucky is rolling with advantage, being unlucky is rolling with disadvantage.

Using visions/strides of heresy with a purity is so fun. Use them on acrid and hold down both primary and secondary fire and laugh.

i just had a run with engineer where my first two items were a hardlight afterburner and a purity, and having instant recharging harpoons is incredible. they have such long range and never miss AND they set off bands too. it became my primary attack for that run

I'll just mention that the lower the proc chance of something is, the higher the effect of purity and clover.
But while for clover it is linear (at 1 stack, slightly exponential for more), for purity, it's exponential.
With a clover, you are 1.95, 1.9, 1.85, 1.8, 1.75, 1.5, and 1.25 times as likely to get a proc at 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 50%, and 75% proc chance.
With a purity, you are 20, 10, 6⅔, 5, 4, 2, and 1⅓ times less likely to get a proc at 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 50%, and 75% proc chance.
Exact formula for clover: (1 - (1 - x)^(y + 1)) / x, where x = proc chance, y = clovers (note: with 1 clover, this is simply 2 - x)
For purity: 1 / x^y, where x = proc chance, y = purities

Pretty sure you’d get to the point where your damage is so low you couldn’t kill anything faster than the game can spawn things.

I like purity on merc because it's a nice and simple way to get complete invincibility if you spam eviscerate, and then I can grab as much glass as I want because I wont take any damage anyways.
i like to stack puritys and double-bands using bandit with Desperado. Gets insane on the late game

I'm still a fan of one stack on triple blink huntress. It does hurt her damage, but the ability to blink constantly is great, plus it also helps her glaives a lot.
With a single purity on heavy mode launcher MULT-T, you can essentially fire rockets forever regardless of attack speed.
It is worth noting, Luck only really effects the following items you care about: Uku, AtG, and Molten Perforator.
Everything else is either not a damage increase, Ghost, or has 100% alternatives with Stealth Kit being the major exemption being based on the % of health damage you took. This is to say... luck is pretty weak especially since the bands were removed from Luck. While it is useful at low stacks... so is a Soldier's Syringe which gets you more hits and procs or any red item which adds more hits.
Clovers are great when you have 1 of an item but once you start getting stacks or find a printer they become rather weak. For every clover you get is a missed meat hook which has an flat additional chance to proc literally everything against multiple targets due to being multi-hit or really any red item with a proc chance.
Since scrap was introduced and you can throw off things like an AtG for 100% effective items it really hurt the Clover's viability and use compared to other legendary items.
i think that bleed and crit being affected by luck is pretty significant

merc gets permanent alpha strike at ~5 purities. (aka .5 seconds of tangibility at all times)
Purity turns Acrid's ranged right click down to 0.5 territory. Since he can also sprint and spit while running, he can become a pseudo Huntress with just it alone, which is funny.
Purity, Afterburner, and Head all on Loader is a LOT of fun. I call it the "Flying Fist" build.
I'm surprised luck doesn't affect item drops, I swear I've had runs where I pick up a clover and get insane item RNG

Man, my first go at Mithrix, blind, huntress monsoon with tonic and clover saved me, I read comments of people who had anywhere from 10 to 20+ afflictions upon going off the effect of tonic and me thanks to clover had three when my items were taken from me.
it's funny to stack purities with acrid and his alternative passive (not the poison one, but the other), if you manage to perma shoot the secondary or the R, it makes a decent amount of damage.
I've been having a fun time testing purity builds more specifically with the engi with mobile turrets and uhh visions of heresy? (the thing that changes your primary attack) i thiiink it lowers the cooldown on it
It does also get 8 soldiers syringe the turrets will shoot faster
In my opinion if you get the mobility and a few bustling fungus engi is the best
I don't care what anyone says Purity Acrid with Visions is fucking insanely fun and I think very good. You get infinite shots of both visions and your acid spit at the same time. If you get good stacks too Purity barely hurts

Another way to think about it (for D&D players) is that 57 Leaf Clover gives advantage, and Purity gives disadvantage. *Unlike D&D* though, you do need to cancel each instance of advantage and disadvantage until you can determine which there is more of.

The way I think about luck is this:
+1 luck makes unlikely results almost twice as likely, but does almost nothing to already likely results.
-1 luck makes unlikely results MUCH less likely, but does almost nothing al already likely results.
+2 luck or above: who cares everything happens all the time and you're winning super hard
I have been stuck in Bulwarks Ambry for 9 hours because I picked up 7 purities and never got an artifact key to drop. So Luck does effect the drop rate of artifact keys.

Artificer: *DRONE STRIKE NOISES* or someone straight out of an anime (depending on if you're using flame throwing or ion surge. Nano spear is also pretty nice but not as useful for spamming out.)
Mercenary: Haha I-frame go brrrr (alternatively become anime swordsman with slicing winds and also flight with rising thunder but becoming a beyblade is also fun plus blinding assult already has your movement covered)
REX: Unless you're using directive skills specifically for purity I don't advise taking it.

Hey Mr. Streamer, serious question. How good would you say Purity is on Artificer? Artificer already doesn’t scale all to well with traditional itemization, and the flat cool down reduction would be great for improving her basic attack timing. That’s just my theory craft on the matter though - I have yet to get a Purity on the jet pack gal to test it myself
I know I'm hella late, but I just tested this today after finally unlocking Purity.
Two Purity gives her essentially seven shots of M1, with another one every half second.
3 negates the cooldown of her M2, and gives her other abilities respectable recovery.
mercenary is almost invincible with some purities
i just did a purity run on artificer and i got the most godly rng ever and it turned into a god run it was fantastic

Doesn't Shrine of the Mountain makes it so you fight an additional/double the Teleporter Boss while also netting you twice the items if you beat them?

I mean if you get will of the wisp, bonus damage to close enemies, death mark and a few statues effect items you just melt everything on monsoon. It’s just too easy and gets super boring.
I had some nice run going on on monsoon with captain and as soon as i took purity for logbook, my run turned into sluggish fight then i was forced to obliterate by that

@baliflyboy the calculation for rolling multiple times to get a binary result is 1-(1-p)^n, where p is the probability of success, and n is the number of trials. That number can be any number, and doesn't have to be an integer. (If luck is negative the calculation changes to p^n)
@baliflyboy computationally, this way is cheaper. You might want to roll once, and then n-1 times to see if the little sound effect plays, but there is no advantage to rolling like 3 times and generating 3 distinct random numbers.

But, if you have an items with a high chance of succeeding (say 9 tri-tip daggers), purity wouldn't hurt the RNG very much. Rolling twice on something that's a 90% chance will most likely just hit anyways. Purity would bring that down to an 81% chance, which is still really high. So, I would say take purity if you a high chance effect, as almost every character can benefit from low cooldowns.

3 or 4 Purity on Mercenary allows you to be in Eviscerate 98% of the time

I stacked Purity one time on Huntress. I didnt even move I just spammed her Ballista Shot and Ricochet Boomerang thingy. Was it good? Probably not. But I had fun.
