The sound at the beginning which sounds like a clock was his son's heartbeat.
While his girlfriend was pregnant! It was his unborn son (at the time) :)

He wrote this song for his son when his then wife was pregnant. On the album version of the song you can hear the baby's heartbeat which Matt recorded on this phone during an ultrasound
Matt and Kate Hudson were never married. They were only engaged at the time of Kate’s pregnancy.
I heard him say in an interview that it was when Kate was in labour. It was the first time he'd heard his baby's heartbeat and he recorded it there and then. Musician to the core of his very soul.
This song was written by Matt Bellamy for his son, had by ex-partner Kate Hudson. At the beginning of the song, he recorded the baby's heartbeat with ultrasound. It is a beautiful love song to dedicate to anyone we love.💙💙💙

Allot of Muse's songs make me emotional but this one gets me to the core, the lyrics especially when you know he's talking to his unborn son, just beautiful.

Please do all 3 sections of “Exogenesis Symphony”. Such a vastly beautiful epic song. I love the elements of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” in part 2 especially. Not a rocker, but a memorable experience for sure.

If there is ANYTHING that impresses me about Muse, is the vocal range of Matt. It is incredible the sounds that emanates from this man. And I can ONLY imagine a collaboration with Pink Floyd, in terms of the dual input for the visuals, but also hearing Matt and David playing their individual styles on the guitars. That could have been BEYOND epic!
This sums it up, anything Matt sings on is going to be gold !

This song is kinda "ok" on the album, and better on this live version, but for those who havent experienced it live, the bass and sound is trully epic (at least At Bercy Arena in France). Such a powerfull and unexpected experience, and i have been to every live since 2003... Really unexpected. When everyone sing as loud as they can "FOLLLOOOW ME". Gossebumps.
