Looks great as a CAT S22 improvement with full Android 11 versus Go, and lighter/smaller. But you fail to mention if it can take a beating like the CAT S22 can, because of its weight which a major selling feature for many like me. I would like Android Auto and Garmin Connect, which I cannot download on the CAT S22, and may be able to with this one?
Hello... nice to meet you I am from Malaysia i have experience use dumbphone almost 3 year, I have 2 dumbphone one Nokia and energizer is good And too long experience as long as I use dumbphone now I use tablet and computer to see social media.
I tried the CAT S22 Flip. And probably the biggest frustration was that the Numpad keyboard did not use true T9 typing. The multi-press predictive texting isn't unusable, but I found it too slow an just always had to use the on-screen G-board, which of course because of the form factor was annoying. I eventually found and switched to the Sunbeam Orchid. It's a true dumbphone without any browser access or app stores. But the real selling point was that it had true T9 typing (and a good voice-to-text to boot). I would be on board with most of these semi-dumb phones that have the physical NumPad keyboard, IF they only had true T9!

The “Basesailor USB Type C Extension Adapter” I got from Amazon works on this phone’s extra deep connector. But the rubber grommet has to be trimmed off first.
I liked your review so i bought this phone on amazon. The display on the front lights up but doesn’t show anything. Is it faulty or am i doing something wrong. Btw, you are correct about the charging port
Interesting device! It reminds me of the Emporia Touchsmart 2 Android phones ...The connector placement is sadly just not perfect. And I wish Motorola would remake the Razr like this, not like a folding screen phone...
Woah full android go, and only 3g ram?? Although that sounds better than the cat, it looks a bit slow, and if you get apps, it will probably be even more slow. Also this is 180 and cat is 65 on amazon. So I guess if you arent gonna get any new apps, dont care about charging so often, are willing to spend 180, maybe i see it to be worth it.
android vs android go has android auto which is really good since many cars nowadays dont come with GPS, but come with a screen expecting you to have a smartphone that supports carplay or android auto. I'd maybe test it first though, might not have enough processing power.
Yeah. I don't have Android Auto on my car so I can't test, but I'll be waiting for other people to figure it out. It has 3GB of RAM, so it should be good I think

I own this phone and my biggest issue is GPS. Unlike the Cat22, the gps doesn’t adjust to the smaller screen. So you have an unusable gps where the header and footer cover the screen and you can’t see the actual map. Were you able to get around this issue? Also the battery life is horrible. Just 10 min of setting up the phone and the battery dropped 25%. I love the light weight design but I had to switch back to my iPhone mini until I find something better.
Hey Jose, great vid review as always. I was thinking about getting one of these in the next couple of weeks. My main concern is that when I look up the mini Q5, some sites have it listed as Android 8.1, and others as Android 11. I know you can only speak for yourself, but do you believe that this is for sure Android 11, or could they come in two different variants? Also, is there any way to give a short update on the Q5 and how it's performing almost a year later? Any answers would be awesome. And by the way, the r / dumb phone link is a great source and keep up the good work. Thanks again👍
The Q5 is Android 11 in my experience. I've never seen a different variant. A year later, the phone remains pretty much the same. They did not fix the charger issue and are still shipping with that long charger that is required for the phone to regain battery. I'd recommend the M5 better, but if you prefer the Flip mode, then the Q5 or CAT S22 would be your best bets.

@JoseBriones Oh, ok. The T9 keyboard filter set to “T9” shows it, so what does the “Workaround” filter mean? My assumption was that the “T9” filter selection translated to “native T9,” while the “Workaround” filter selection would mean/include something like an app or keyboard app. Just trying to understand the filters on the site better :)

Looks like rebranded TTfone. Btw, I contacted them few days ago about TT970 asking if they plan to release new version with more up to date Android and they answered that they have something planned soon. 😊 When they release it, that will be my goodbye to classic smartphone. 😁

My Redmi Note 8 2021 will keep asking about mode on my wife's Android Auto and hardly charge. Thats while making continuous bleeps from the stereo. Actually the same in one work van i used. Doesnt improve when phone upgrades.

@@JoseBriones 13 is verizon only, 17 for at&t is usually included under band 12 superset . b41 for tmobile would be nice as well as b30 for at&t. band 5 for verizon and at&t is now 5g only. 66 is a superset of b4. bummer about charging , that's not acceptable

Assuming your device's charging worked better, would you say the value is worth nearly 3 times the current going price of the CAT S22? The bulk of the S22 is nearly the only thing preventing me from pulling the trigger.
The f21 pro is significantly better than the q5, on all fronts, apart from not being made specifically for American networks. Better screen, lighter (?), better cpu, better battery, more storage, better camara and cheaper.
Finally a step in the right direction for classic style flip phones I've always hated the modern flip phones like the galaxy z flip and such

I just downloaded a T9 APK because i needed Swedish. Works great and takes a second to install

It should. I used it with both T-Mobile and US Mobile which runs on T-Mobile as well. So it should be fine.

Does the gps issue affect multiple apps? For example, Organic Maps (My preferred gps app)? Or is it just an issue with google maps?

Yes. It has a basic version of T9 that you can use, but you can also install TT9 or K9T9 and use those that are more advanced versions of T9 apps

Durability should be fine. USB cable is longer than usual, but you can find them on eBay.

IFYI wrote to the company and was told that it only exists for the USA market. The Q3 flip smart phone also is global.
Ok. So it does have a different name for global then?
This was their reply: Q5 is exclusive to the US frequency band, while Q3 is in the frequency band of other countries

Yes. But if you want it to work in the USA, the Q5 is easier to work with. But yes, the F21 works better.
