2015 Toyota Corolla light front collision over the bumper time lapse repair

  • This Corolla rear ended another car with the right front corner. Since the driver was on the brakes and the front end was nosed to the ground, the impact with the other car was above the bumper in a weak area. The hood, right fender, bumper, headlights, windshield, right upper rail, apron, and right side of the upper tie bar were replaced. There were scratches on the two front doors and rear bumper so those were painted too even though they were not part of the accident.

    Dude, I like your videos a lot. They show me that there are more ways to fix an accident than just throwing it to the auto body shops. I know you have been doing this for a very long time, but it still nice to see what can be done and what to watch for when buying an older car that is questionable.

    As a retired fleet tech, I’ve done tons of rework of factory warranty crap as well as spent loads of time on rework on hack body shops till it made me leave the trade from burnout after 30 years.
    You sir are rare and I’ve seen so much that I can’t forget just walking through shops that made me cringe.

Hey, you guys teach me too. I fix cars, my viewers let me know what they want from me on this platform and I am happy to deliver. I'm not a hack it together kind of guy. Thanks for your videos. I started watching repair videos from another TH-camr and while he was entertaining, he was obviously not a body man or a mechanic and did some absolutely wrong and dangerous things. Anyway, you can tell a guy who knows what he’s doing and does a job right. You know what your doing and it’s refreshing to watch a “pro”. Are you a trained mechanic and/or body man?

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. I have recently started watching videos here and there and I know what you mean. It is good that you can realize the difference between the right way and the way people sometimes do things. The biggest problem is than sometimes people that don't do things the right way have a large following of people that are learning things the wrong way and go on to make the same mistakes in their projects. I am a mechanic. I worked in a bodyshop for years and did bodywork when the mechanical shop got slow. I took classes and trained with the other body techs and have done my own rebuild projects for 20+ years. So I have a little experience with every aspect of a rebuild from frame work to painting.

    That's a great-looking job on that little Corolla. You're right people have way too many misconceptions about a repaired car, or a rebuilt car. I used to work in a limousine Factory. Those people were considered certified aftermarket remanufacturers. My company that I worked for manufactured limousines and funeral cars and trust me the only person that deserves to ride in that funeral car was the man in the casket. If the car buying public saw the manufacturing process for those Autos they'd run off screaming Into the Night. Thanks for another great video take care.

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I know exactly what you are talking about on the limos. I have worked on a few and some of the work is scary! The same goes for the handicapped vans! People trust all these modified pieces of garbage but a car with a salvage title that may not even have been damaged is unsafe? The worst is not uninformed people, it is the people that are heavily informed..... with incorrect information and there is a lot of incorrect information available. Hopefully,I can provide some good quality information to whatever small portion of the population I can reach. Thanks for the support, have a good month!

    Thanks so much for the great video. I wonder if making a 1-1/2 inch hole on the wall of the passenger side front wheel well would affect the structure of the 2012 Camry. I wanted to have access to the PCV valve, which is at the back of the engine and under the intake manifold. The hole would be slightly above the frame and near the strut tower. I would appreciate your advice kindly! (There are people who do the job from below the engine or by removing the intake manifold, but, at 74, I feel either of the methods is too much for me). Thanks again!

      Thanks, it is all years of practice. I used to think that my channel exploding wasn't possible but it doubled in size in 4 days because of one video (2015 Silverado). I started with the easy ones like this and worked up to the big ones like the Enclave and some of the Terrain videos. The basics are the same so once you learn them, you can do it all. Good luck on your rebuilds. I have some how to videos that will be coming out next month that might be helpful. Thanks for watching and glad to have you as a sub!

      Thanks, no one should be afraid of a car that is repaired correctly. A lot of people say the same thing, some of them are actually driving wrecked cars and don't even know it! Thanks for watching!

      Well my v10 tdi -03 Touareg is repaired 3 times including one time totaled, One time heavily flooded, both cylinder heads repaired once and still going strong. I don't afraid to drive it, I love it 😄 Here in Finland more than 70% of all cars are repaired, some less, some more in their average life time which is now 19 years...

      Thanks, the frame rack is a Car-O-Liner. Best on the market in my opinion. Also the most expensive. This one is 30+ years old and the model number is long gone, sorry. There are a few different models they offer now for different uses. Thanks for watching!

    Since this a 2015 model. it doesn't have the Safety Sense package that Toyota added in 2017 which includes pre-collison system with brake assist.

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Like any other system, they are not perfect. I have seem some that even the pre-collision systems could not prevent. I agree it may have been useful in this case though but then I wouldn't get to fix it. lol Thanks for watching.

      Davin Peterson A safety sense package doesn’t replace your eyes

  • @Dguncrazy
    @Dguncrazy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    When working on the upper rail is it worth to replace it if there is small indentation or would it be better to just straighten it out (same car but small indentation caused it to be about 10degree out from original postion would i need to weld a new one in or can i get away with just bending it back in place?)
