This kid's guitar really sings. Something about the tone, the vibrato, the precise timing...I don't know. Lots of players can play technical stuff like this but this guy actually makes me feel something when I listen to him. Also, let's not forget how amazing the bassist and drummer are!

Yes, exactly correct - the drummer & the bassist are awesome musicians! They know, that they are the base of that trio and they do it like a Masters.
You can tell you're listening to amazing musicians when the bass player is laying down the fattest groove ever but is looking like he's waiting for the printer to finish 1:22
That is Jacos bassline though but only to give credit due. This guy plays Jacos bits when he wants and his own amazing bits when he wants. What a seriously talented group of guys. All three are top tier musicians.

This is to me, having listened to almost everything this world has to offer, from Cassiopea to Cannibal Corpse, Rory Gallagher to Roy Clark. This is the greatest thing thats ever been played on these insturments. Its so mindblowingly beautiful.

You need TH-cam, a decent record collection, and parents that really nourish your life rather than deconstruct it. Plus, you have to want it bad. Most of us old guys had to figure this out for ourselves and by the time we knew what was what it was almost too late.

That Bass player is awesome.
This whole trio is at a level that is hard to imagine. Of course what Matteo is doing is at a new level with his instrument, but they are all extremely musical as well as world class virtuosos! So wonderful to see young musicians who are carrying on, in fact expanding, this type of music!
Is it hard to imagine? Weather Report wrote the song, and while Matteo is another excellent guitarist he's not Guthrie Govan. 'Guitar trio does "Havona" cover' turned out really well ❤👍

All the comments on TH-cam that everything is autotune now, that musicians don’t know how to play anymore, that the only good musicians were all from the 70’s. These young gentleman prove, without any doubt, the future of music is just fine and in excellent new young hands. It’s not just the playing here, the arrangement of Havona is stunning, astounding, incredible. I’ve been a pro musician (full time) for over 4 decades, but feel no need to defend my turf anymore…I most happily cede the stage to these fantastic young musicians. BRAVO!!!!!
Amazing and the greatest respect for their skills! But: what they play is 70s music, their originals sound like A. Holdsworth.
I personally get goose bumps with almost every note, phrasing, melodic line of Pat M. That doesn't happen to me with M. Mancuso.
He doesn't impress me on the emotional side.
But I guess there's always been a division in preferences here.

I've been listening to it for I really don't know how long (2 years, 100 times or so) and every single time it ended sooner than I expected. I'm sober and I don't smoke.
What the fuck is this ???? This is epic! All three musicians .. if you stay till the end, the drummer does some amazing things! Not that the whole time he wasn't doing great things, but the last few minutes, he just does some super slick things! I can't describe them, cuz I have ABSOLUTELY no idea what it is ! It just sounds amazing.
And the bassist ? OUUFFFF.... And those chords ... to 'back' the bass as he solos ... oh my ! These guys are amazing!
I hope Yamaha appreciates what they've got in this guy. A one-man demo machine who makes their guitar sing in spectacular fashion. Incredible talent.
No doubt! Yamaha guitars are really pretty incredible. They get the intonation right among other things!

Used to own two Yamaha SG's. Beautiful guitars! My dumb ass sold them both when I was younger.
Replaced them with Ibanez AR's; my next-favourite guitar.
I'm a huge Yamaha fan too and yes, this guy definitely is like a walking advertisement for them :-)

By far the best guitarist today! I have seen the best live, from Frank Gambale, Steve Lukather, George Benson, Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton, Martin Miller, Steve Vai, you name him, I most likely have seen him live. I have played guitar since the 60's, Matteo has made guitar playing look so easy!

OH - M Y - G O D ! ! You need to understand how hardcore I am as a Zawinul fan when I say that I actually named my own son after him - so THAT:S how seriously I take this. Then I fell upon this musician last week and was simply blown away. And then this evening I notice that he has done a cover of my all time favourite Zawinul piece and I clicked on it expecting to hear something good but it would be - again - "yeah its alright but it ain't Joe" , but I have been simply blown away by quite how amazing the whole treatment is!! BRAVISSIMO GUYS !!! I can honestly say - hand on heart, and I knew Joe, so this is real - he would have been impressed! And THAT'S the best compliment I could EVER give.

I play classical guitar for 20 years and also electric with jazz and metal bands, love his finger style, control and feeling, controls greatly the attack and intensity at will, my favorite guitar player of all time
Reminds me at times of "Road Games" era Holdsworth. The bass solo had a Berlin vibe. 👍🏽

I just can’t get over the right hand technique. Impeccable. The playing is so fluid. Not a shredfest or chops in your face. Great melodic ideas. Bass player and drummer also excellent.

Poi i veri maestri, gli artisti, i grandi della chitarra di ieri e di oggi per tecnica, stile, linguaggio. E poi c'è chi va oltre, c'è Matteo Mancuso. Senza dimenticare gli straordinari ragazzi che suonano con lui.

I just discovered Matteo's work here on YT. One of the things you notice in a great player is how relaxed they seem, even when they're laying down the most difficult and imaginative lines. They have a sort of serenity about them that comes from complete mastery of their instrument. I can't wait to hear more from Matteo and friends.
They're on fire, but, their playing seems so relaxed. They know exactly what to do and are doing it like I would be humming a tuneless song while scratching myself in the morning. I don't know if that made any sense but, y''all know what I mean.

It amazes me that there are so many top, and I mean TOP quality young musicians out there today. I’m glad we have TH-cam to see them. When I was their age (70s), there was literally nothing out there for guitarists. I started with classical/flamenco in the late 60s, but wanted to play Beatles stuff, of course, and it was nearly impossible to find fingerstyle (or any other style) arrangements of their tunes.
Yeah, learning in the 80s and early 90s before internet was costly and limited by today's standard. To get information , you had to buy books like the "Advancing Guitarist" or Mickey Baker's and take lessons. No excuse to suck these days.
There was WEATHER REPORT.....lol.... music is so much more accessible these days whick is good.....most of it's trash but then there are these gems.....
I used to play the guitar during those days (as a young teen), and for the reasons you said I quit... during 40 years!!! And finally resumed just one year ago...

As a guitar player I have always admired Guthrie's technique, musicality and improv ability but Matteo does stuff that makes me believe that he will eclipse everyone. And the bassist and drummer - super tight, awesome arrangement and such musical maturity.
Would be great to hear some more original compositions from these guys.
These are the best without a doubt, the utmost professional musicians I have ever seen or heard in my life....and I'm an old man jazz buff!!!! Awesome there dudes....long may you run!

I love how creative and interesting this cover is. The drummer’s kicks are insane, and of course the bass is locked in.
It is so refreshing to hear a skilled guitarist play with CLEAN tone. I love distortion, too, but I find most guitarists fail miserably when they attempt to play clean. The whole band is wonderful, and I look forward to hearing more of these guys. Bravo!
Most guitarists? What guitarists do you speak of that warrant such criticism that you would call them failures?
People like you need to realize skill takes time and practice, some learn quicker than others, some choose only to learn certain aspects of music which is suitable for their style and it doesn't mean they're failures if they choose to be favorable towards one technique over another whether clean or distorted tone.
If you're talking clean tone then play an acoustic with no amplification, clean tone on an electric still gets processed and the signals are still enhanced through the amp and the PUP's.

Fu*k dude! What can I say but fu**in brilliant. Well done young fellers! I played professionally at the tail end of the "wrecking crew" days and in retirement I see music like the Olympics. Every year they get younger and run faster and jump higher etc and right now this is the sh*t. This is a real step forward to my sensibility. If there is ever an Olympics of music I think this is the gold medal shit.

Keep coming back to this one. Just love how precise the rhythm is. The tone on the bass is awesome. Drumming is crisp. And the guitar work is obviously amazing. All together just a super high quality performance. Hope to hear more from this trio.

Matteo Mancuso and Pasquale Grasso have to be two of the most impressive new guitar players to come along in a very long time. It would not seem humanly possible to play with both pick and fingers with the fluidity that Pasquale achieves, or that one individual could produce so much music from just a guitar and with only one hand on the fretboard. And now Matteo has shown us the seemingly limitless possibilities of a pure fingerstyle technique, although I have never seen anything like it. Astonishing techniques in service of the music.
Total command of the instrument, by both, beautifully intense and scary at the same time!, in boca al lupo!
