Where did you buy the device?
nice cases, too bad i dont have a compatible device (older Galaxy), btw as far as slow apps, ive found that many of them that look simple are just mini web browsers that take you to a smaller page for mobile devices, and usually the websites are dog slow (our local state fairs is like this).
I got mine for 20 bucks + 8 dollar screen/battery replacement and it worked really well. Then I sold it and forgot about it sadly as it was getting obsolete very fast
No
@@jjjacer As i was saying before Psivewri deleted my comment. this case is a Chinese clone of all other cases on the market
Psivewri you are such a POS stop taking sponsors from the first person that gives you a boat load of money because it's obvious thats all you care about🤣
It is a blast from the past and a reminder of simpler times when 16GB of storage felt like luxury
it still is, for ram that is
Apple apps are much smaller, as IOS is based on unix, not Android/Linux.
@@ProDigit80nah idiot iOS apps are larger in size compared to android apps
@@Autonomous_17he’s talking about rom
@@Autonomous_17 i'm constantly pushing against my ram on my 16gb mac, next one will be 48 or 64GB probably lol
As someone who daily drove a 32GB iPhone 6 from 2016 to 2021 (it came bundled with a Telstra mobile data plan from JB HiFi back in 2016); I honestly miss it for the simple function of the Touch ID to authorise things instead of double-tapping the power button and scanning my face with my 64GB XR (bought secondhand at Cash Converters in 2021) but otherwise I do NOT miss the panic attacks of if my phone is still in my pocket or not!
Never had a "bendgate" issue as I was careful enough to put the iPhone 6 in a protective case right away with a screen protector so it wouldn't bend or break in usage - also I kept it in my *side* pockets and mot my *back* pocket when I put it away. I'm surprised people didn't realise *sitting on your phone* might be a problem...
Funny tho, my little sister managed to kill 3 phones (among the poor ones, a iPhone) just with sitting on it.
I've told her countless times, if she wants to keep it longer, STOP putting in your back pocket... But she didn't listen, still to this day, she does that and i've told her to not roughly 5 years ago.
It's totally fine to have it there but it's not fine to sit on it haha xD
Had my 6 for 9 years and never bent, maybe it was a lucky one?
Hilarious still, my little sister ingested her iPhone directly into her ass. No matter how many times I told her it's not an enema, we'd catch her in the tub covered in her own poop.
How did you manage to use an iPhone 6 until 2021? Mine in 2019, after iOS 12 upgrade, became painfully slow and unproductive. Plus, the battery was gone. Used for work and with loads of suff on it. So maybe that’s a reason.
Sometimes apple removes stuff so they have room to add new items or to safe space or money lol. I didn’t know but newer phones are becoming less packaged with important items like a adapter. I didn’t know the iPhone removed live wallpapers and I was lucky to get the iPhone 6s that was the last iPhone with a headphone Jack
The iPhone 6 is definitely one of the most memorable iPhones out there to date. I have a 6+ as a backup and I've had no problems using it when I can't use my 13, the camera, while worse, is still manageable, the battery life is bad but I've replaced the battery in mine and carry a small battery pack for it. However something like an iPhone 7 or 8 would be more feasible and useful in 2023.
after you replaced the battery how much screen on time can you get out of it
@@bernardo_quartz2 minutes
@bernardo_quartz I have 6s with ios 15 and good battery health honestly the battery life is shit, updating really affected it
@bernardo_quartz I have 6s with ios 15 and good battery health honestly the battery life is shit, updating really affected it
can the iphone 6 still run whatsapp?
I had an iPhone 6 Plus as a work phone from 2016 to 2021, it was hammered all day long in field service using specific apps, calls, texts, emails and Teams - it became horrendously slow and thankfully I got a 2nd hand 6S Plus as a replacement in 2021 after I dropped it...The 6S was just about usable by the time I retired from service in Feb '22 but it really struggled with Teams.
It's aged so well considering anything below A5 chip only lasted like 4 years
64 bit cpu magic 🤓 👌🏻 (Apple A7 and later)iPhone 6 has Apple A8
iPhone 6 on iOS 10 is pretty much rare and you just updated it, LOL. Anyways, great video as always!
that was PAINFUL to watch, haha.
@@czLochy indeed, it hurt me to the soul. bro ruined a collectible.
It didn't even cross my mind. Very few apps would've been usable in iOS 10, but I guess it would've been more collectable 😅
Watching you update it was so painful@@psivewri
@@psivewri Yeah, Jailbreaking would've been necessary but I think TH-cam, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram and other online services would still work that way. Even Twitter! You could've had both advantages. Next time I guess... 😞
My grandma still uses her iPhone 6. I googled some things on it for her and it was weird how random apps and websites don’t work but otherwise the phone functioned perfectly since she didn’t need it for much more than a flip phone that sometimes took photos
I got an iPhone 6s with 64GB for €25 (+5 shipping) second hand. It's cheaper than a new SD card of the same storage size but it came with a fully working unit of the best phone ever made. The 6s is an iPhone 6, but with 3 more iOS updates, 4K video, 3D touch and taptic engine, the touch ID is so fast it scans with a tap instead of press, it's the same thickness and it has a headphone jack. With double the RAM and a way faster SOC with a 90% GPU performance boost it's incredible and still usable for everything, 8 years later! App support is great for now, but won't last long as more iOS versions get released. The battery life is poor, but this happens to all devices of this age, Android phones too. The iPod batteries are the worst tho (nano and early iPod touch). I'm glad the batteries last enough for a day of use with a couple small charges during the day. If you switch to an iPhone 1-5s for a day, getting the big screen of an iPhone 6 is a luxury again. Just like when it was new!
I still have my iPhone 6 from July 2017. Works awesome.
That was a rare version of ios. It would’ve been good for a collector
And he just upgraded it, what a waste :c
You know I am working on a downgrade, with other devs, tethered though, such a shame.
I hope downgrade for iphone 6 will be available soon, i want ios 8 so badly x)@@levonandonian7613
In hindsight I should've not updated it. However it would've had even less app support in iOS 10.
apps existed before ios 10 too, you know x)
@@psivewri
Seeing him update the phone hurt me a little bit😭😭 Very nice video, thank you Nathan
Same, I was like but the JAILBREAK COMPATIBILITY!!!
I remember when I used to use one of these. I love how small it is and that's why I love the size of the iPhone 13 mini or the iPhone 8 which I mained. My friend still uses it and it seems to holdup.
You can always get the se. I can’t do small phones lol
I got a "grade a" iPhone 6 two weeks ago from a friend. He thank goodness remembered the password (as opposed to the one of the ipad 3 he gave me, so sad) and I reset it. It's impressive how well that oldie still works.
I am still on iPhone X purchased back in 2017, still running smooth and amazing.
Great work great man ❤
I had iPhone 6 16GB until 2020 with iCloud storage and it’s biggest advantage was that a local backup on iTunes was done in 1 minute ;)
I’m an old schooler and I’m not a power user. I’m still using the iphone se 1st gen even though I have something much recent. I love its small size which is very practical for me. It’s sad that they don’t make anymore a smartphone of this size.
There are SE3 and 13 mini from more or less recent ones. If you like the size of your phone, those are good upgrade choices.
I think just stepping up to the next year's 6S would be MUCH better experience. It got updates all the way up to iOS 15 and was much more technically robust as well so its performance holds up significantly better than the 6 as well.
I still have a 6S with me and I could realistically still use it day to day if I really had to. Its insane that a phone from 2015 is still this usable 8 years later.
A 2015 phone isn't old, but technically software wise it's obsolete
@@tomjardine100 in tech terms a phone from 2015 is ancient lol. There are no other phones from that year that are still usable reliably today.
@@alolanstarboy I phone XR from 2018, seems to work great but still no doubt classed as old
My J7 Prime from 2016 with laat update of Android pie (3gb ram/32gb rom) still working fine as I play mobile legends high frame rate and graphics smoothly and gta san andreas (im just a casual gamer) and just use it for fb, instagram, and youtube. And it's working very fine without lags. Tho battery maybe bad since got this phone since it release in 2016.
Stepping up to the 7 is even better, you don’t get a headphone jack but you get stereo speakers, 1080p video recording on front cam, upgraded base storage to 32GB, IP67 protection, and higher brightness over the 6S
I still use my 6S as a secondary phone and it is completely uncompromised. I picked it up in 2016 and it runs all the latest apps. I use it to play Among Us & stream videos from TH-cam, Disney+ and Netflix along with web-browsing, Skype & FaceTime. All I’ve had to do is replace the battery a few times.
Man the iPhone 6 was the best iPhone I ever handled imo not the 6s but the original release skinnier one with space gray. Something about that phones simplicity was perfect for me and the quick tap to unlock made it such a smooth device to use as a daily.
The iPhone 6 was my first real Phone, once it stopped getting new IOS version updates I got an iPhone 8. Seeing as that got the axe recently, I'm gonna get an upgrade to the iPhone 11 soon. I'm not the kinda guy to really be eyes on with the newest of the new, I really just want something that works and is supported for a lil' while 😅
you could just go with iphone 13 now
Went from the 8 to the 11 recently and I’m very happy with it.
i phone 11 is quite old now.
@@tomjardine100Yh but it has about 2-3 years of support left, most likely
I recommend getting the 12 or 13 instead, if you can. The 11 is nearing the end of support. Plus, the 12 and 13 have 5G support.
My daily runner is still an iPhone-7 plus that I’ve had from new. It’s had a new battery this year, and still runs all my apps perfectly. No plans to part with any hard earned cash to replace it anytime soon 😊
i have used my iPhone 6s since 2018 to now to this day still and havent changed, its so beastly, the iphone 6s model includes the pink color on the back, but besides that it had many updates, and las like 32 GB or storage, still works beastly and quite smooth, cuz of this, if i ever got a different phone, i wouldnt want it to be looking exactly liek the iphone 6s like my one, then it will look nice!
I have an iPhone 6s Plus from my dad, and it still works to this day. Even after countless cracks and drops, its somewhat capable of running games and apps while almost struggling to run instagram's editor. But even after all that, the battery capacity absolutely sucks. To use it daily from day to night, requires at least 2 full charges to get you going. There's also other issues with thermal, camera stabilization, audio and microphone, etc. But overall, it's still absolutely useable to this day, maybe no longer next year.
Yh it is, but if your gonna be using it for banking, putting some personal details you rather not use it since it doesn’t receive any updates anymore, it’s easily hackable. Using it for Music, videos, calling should be ok tho but it’s no longer secure
Battery holds? Mines battery does not hold... and I checked the battery status and it's at an 85% operable.
I have 12pro but i have and my old phone iphone 6 pinky gold i buy it in 2015 500€ and now i send this message with my old iphone 6😅 its impressive and so strong phone.
So nostalgic that was my first iPhone back in 6th Grade. Im surprised that it still runs as it first came out the box besides the degraded battery :(
I used a 32GB iPhone 6S Plus up until earlier this year. It served me very well ever since high school, definitely a great phone.
My mother and father in law are still using a base iPhone 6 to this day as a daily driver. I mean, calls work, WhatsApp works, safari is slow but doable, they are not really power user as you can imagine. No complaints a part from the “small screen”, to them hard to read even on big characters without glasses.
I love this video so much❤❤
I recently bought a restored 6S with a new battery with the intention to use as my daily device. I used it for a day and then went back to my modern android phone. It was simply too slow and painful to use. It also got super hot and drained battery very quickly when I was actively using it.
Thanks for a good review of the iPhone 6 in 2023 - one of my friends sent me an iPhone 6 a while ago which requires a new screen and battery. I might just fix it up and use it as a test phone.
P.S. I do not rate Apple's newer phones due to the lack of basic features required (such as a headphone jack and fingerprint scanner - even the Galaxy A50 has an in screen fingerprint sensor) and the severe lack of repairability to 3rd parties, including end users.
I am still currently using an IPhone 6 and its not going too well... its extremely slow and cant run any apps, but one unusual thing about it is my battery life. My battery life seems to be pretty good lasting me an entire day if used properly. From personal experience I'd say im due for an upgrade but happy to stay with this phone for a little longer.
Did instagram dms stopped for u?
@@nadinehella6709 my phone cant even run instagram straight up
I still have mine and it still works good and I use it sometimes 😊
I´m glad to see not only android phones from 2014 struggle greatly these days.
But running android 13 on a HTC One M8 definitely is fun
as a bakcup / secondary phone, i still have an iPhone 6 Plus (64GB) which I purchased as a "Used phone" back in 2016.. and until now it is still usable. and the battery was never been replaced since it was purchased by the first owner back in it's release date.
The form factor is elegant. I have my 6s with OS 14.5 and new battery. So slim and light.
I remember when I used this... ten minutes ago! I'm still using an iPhone 6 that I inherited from my daughter about 8 years ago, LOL! I changed the battery once - cost about 60 bucks, and it's due for a new change, it just gets old. Every few months I download my pictures to my desktop, that's the biggest storage issue.
Lately, though, I'm getting locked out of many app updates (apple doesn't let you upgrade past IOS 12), and it hurst a little not being able to open youtube, to be honest. (I don't care about twitter or FB) Great for productivity though! =) I just can't get myself to pay for a phone more than what I paid for a gaming desktop. Thanks for the video!
I have an iphone 6s which is hella cracked because I broke the screen protector. This iPhone works pretty well, cameras were pretty smooth ngl until there were a few problems with my iPhone 6. My touchscreen was not working properly and I only have limited data. It does look bad for now, but I decided to keep my iPhone 6 because I might save it for nostalgia and childhood feelings. Wait until the next 5 years this iPhone will look so luxurious that it is not even in sale, yet is pretty cheap.
I have my iPhone 15 because I wanted an upgrade to use it permanently but i still keep my iPhone 6 which was lent by my dad in 2020. I don't want to sell or destroy it because I wanted to keep it like a decoration even with shit cracks on my phone.
I used an iPhone 6s 32GB from mid 2019 to this summer. It was a decent phone and it still works, only reason why I upgraded to an iPhone 13 mini 256GB was because of storage and software support. Otherwise I’ll still be daily driving it today.
İm using 6s rn and ım gonna buy poco f5 soon i love 6s but it overheats a lot when i play games
I have a 7 and it's still perfectly functional for daily tasks but the battery life is just so poor, survives only like 3 hours of usage.
I got my grandma's old 6 plus 128gb this year when she upgraded to a 14 pro max. Phone is in mint condition with a slight bend. I remember unboxing it in early 2015. The UI feels OK, screen recordings fail a lot, but apps like Telegram run horrible, it's almost unusable, the A8 is still kinda OK, but it's the 1gb of ram that kills the phone. I'm pretty sure the S5 aged better with a custom rom
Telegram runs fine on mine
@@Elroy03 Weird, i think it might be my battery, the phone doesn't even warm up unlike my 6S that is an induction cooker
Miss this phone era. 6 edge was so beautiful too, Galaxy Note.
I remember on the news the day that the iPhone 6 came out, there was a guy at the Apple Store here in Adelaide that dropped his brand new iPhone 6 out of the box. Being as you’re also from Adelaide, you probably remember that too 😂
Pretty sure I saw that on the news!
@@psivewriyeah, did you get to keep that 15 Pro as part of the sponsorship?
I still use my 6s and it's the only phone I've used since I purchased it in August 2017. I chose it over the iPhone 8 because it still had an auxiliary port. It's still a reliable great phone. But I think I will soon purchase an iPhone SE 3rd gen because my speaker phone is not usable, battery is not great... and I just got it replaced for the 2nd time in March. Speaker isn't good anymore, and some apps are slow. But it's still usable! It's pretty amazing to me.
YOOOO I LITERALLY JUST USED AN IPHONE 6 WHEN THIS WAS UPLOADED
I got my 6+ as a hand me down from my grandma. Still works and I use it to pair a Series 0 Apple Watch.
I just had to put a new battery in my SE2. The battery life with the ifixit battery is a lot better. I’m very happy with it.
I used one for a month last year while on vacation in Cuba because I didn't want to bring my 12 and it's still very usable
I’ve still got my 6 plus and try to use it for random browsing and stuff but after a few minutes is gets super hot. I’ve put 2 new batteries in it since I first got it, the last one just recently. But the slowness and heat up makes me not use to that much.
Colours being 'washed out' can also be a camera module thing. I have an iPhone 11 and still prefer its images to the newer iPhones, which are just too aggressive in colour and contrast. The 15 is the first one that makes me go 'all right, I can live with this'. I refuse to pay that much for a phone though (they are way more expensive here in the Netherlands than they are in the US. I think it's 700 bucks there, it's close to 1100 here). So I hope mine will last for a few years, by the time the iPhone 17 is released I'm sure i'll be happier with the price of the 15 :D.
I agree.
iPhones before iPhone 7 doesn’t capture in P3 Wide Color. That might be the cause otherwise the camera in daylight is still pretty good
It's got an 8 megapixel iPhone 5S camera. 8 is just a 5s with a screen that has a resolution that is too high for it's specs
You are right about the colors though, you just have to turn off every settings on the new phones, and 15 does not even allow that. My 6S did better with exposure.
My first iPhone was the 6+ and I loved it. Now I am on the 15 Pro Max :3
Out of all the iPhone's i've ever had, (6 Plus, X, 11 Pro Max, and now my 14 Pro,) the 6 Plus had to have been my favorite iphone i've ever had. It was so simple, and loved it.
The iphone 6s is my favourite phone. It was my first phone, second-hand from my Dad. Now I have a galaxy s6 edge plus. I'm sticking with the classics
my mom still uses one😅, bought brand new in 2019, the 32gb one. whatsapp is no longer updated, so is netflix and other apps
my cousin still uses this phone , baffles me that she’s able to do pretty much anything (at face value) that an older iphone can, not including hardware and quality ect
Awesome review!! 🎉😃✋⭐
The fact that he updated that rare iPhone 6 on iOS 10 to iOS 12 😭😭😭
I'm using 6S right now, without playing games on it
i swapped a new battery for it
i even bought another second-hand 6S
planning to buy 15 pro
Did you try using DFU mode? Sometimes recovery mode just doesn't work.
Iphone 6 camera is so vintage I love itt
my iphone 6s no longer powers on or even charges
i thought about getting a new battery but im not sure if thats the problem and its probably not worth trying to fix it now
Had one in early 2015. It was so smooth on its original iOS 8.
Im on a 6S and feel absolutely no need to upgrade.
I dont feel like I need it to do things it cant, so I will upgrade when that happens, plus
I like having a home button and a headphone jack in a reasonably sized smartphone
my iPhone 6 still working its my only phone i got a new battery in May when i was in the Philippines i got there every year mine is gold same as the second one you got i have a protective case on mine its leather charging only every 2 days its out a 50 percent dont let lower than that hey your girlfriend is very cute you lucky man !!
I've used the 6 plus last year til i got my phone. still capable on things like TikTok, Facebook Messenger and Instagram, also still have good camera compared to the modern entry level though can't survive Call of Duty Mobile. It made me love iOS but still rocking Android to this day, tho i have an iPhone 6s as my backup phone. The iOS 12 bottleneck is bad tho, i think it can still survive modern apps.
I was still using the i phone 6 as recently as January this year. The battery was rubbish, even with a replacement one. The charging was fast though. Finally replaced it with the 14 pro max which was a huge upgrade
Absolutely love your videos. A very off-topic quest, may I know which watch are you wearing haha?

Hey, love this video and after watching it completely I think I would love to see how iPhone 8 plus performs in 2023

We have a 6 plus and I recently played around with it and it has 64 gb of storage. It’s sorta usable in 2023 but the battery is bad so have to keep it plugged in.
Still daily driving one of these. Battery life ain't great, but I just use it for communication and web browsing anyway. All my pockets must be small since I rarely feel like I've forgotten it.
Now that was indeed a retro flashback!
My brother had this one forever
Omg
I upgraded from an iPhone 6 16 gig to iPhone 12 mini 32 gig. I loved it but after 8 years, a lack of updates made me upgrade
Touch ID and headphone jack is what kept me from upgrading for a while
I tried using my 6S. It works and functions well, but lack a signal once in a while.
I use a 6plus for stuff (not for calls) and it still works really well even at 88% battery health
First apple phone i got is the se 3 as i didnt have the money to get anything better. Coming off of a galaxy a34 i would say this phone is better. It is smaller than what im used to, but i have gotten used to it and honestly it a lot easier for one hand usage so i like it quite a bit.
As a third world country enthusiast, you would be surprised at how many people are still using the 4S, 5S, 6, 6S..
I am privileged enough to buy a 3rd gen SE, because that is the maximum that an average person can afford.
i got a 7 plus for 10 USD at a recycling center, it needed a new battery but its been perfect since. Using a 14 pro max as my main tho.
5:21 i didn't update x/twitter on my samsung galaxy j7 prime because the rebranding is horrible and twitter works by not updating somehow works for no reason.
I installed a clock app on it and put it on a dock, set it always on as my clock in the room
A few years back I got a new-old-stock Moto G5, which is a budget Android phone from 2017.
The update server was down, while I planned on loading on LineageOS I've been using it's factory Android 7 ROM.
I like it's older design, which somewhat resembles the iPhone 6 with a similarly placed fingerprint reader, but has the old arced top and bottom and fake chrome bezel.
While it's slow, I've been daily driving it since and got some good usability out of it by changing out most of the Google apps for lighter alternatives.
I'm waiting for new phones with replaceable batteries before I replace it, while I have a backup phone running Android 11, I prefer this old brick.
The older interface is nice to use and it's the first phone I've had that has been fully reliable and hasn't started lagging more over time.
@Send.an.sms.to.claim... So do I! The TH-cam report scam button!

Haha
I Had Mine Since 2014. I Still Have It With Me, But I Now Use 11 Pro Max Which I Got For My B-Day Back In 2019 BC Apparently My Older Sis Told Me I Needed An Upgrade, Lol. Crazy How I Only Had 2 Phones, The 6 & The 11 Pro Max.
I just ordered an iPhone 13 Mini to replace my iPhone 6 16GB. 😀
I don't think I will ever have a cheaper phone than the iPhone 6. I bought it used in 2017 for 130€ and replaced the battery for 30€ or so in 2019.
Hurts a bit to pay 720€ for the iPhone 13 Mini, because I don't use my phone that much. But with phones getting bigger and bigger this seemed like the last opportunity to get something this small.
Also 6 isn’t secure anymore you did the right thing, 6 can be easily hackable
@@allaboutwwe9269 There is no security, but he has become a turtle
My iphone 6 has 128gb storage but 1gb ram, is it that mine is different?? And mine can't download Facebook from the store because the version 12.5.7 is not supported for Facebook
How many watches do you have? I noticed multiple watches during that vid...
I used a hand me down Iphone 6 from around 2017-2020. The phone did everything it needed to flawlessly and i only considered replacing it because of the battery was having problems. The final straw was when I was sitting on the toilet and I accidentally dropped it on the floor face down, needless to say the screen was completely obliterated
I can literally imagine how it would look after the display being shattered into crumbs because clearly a friend I know carries one with them despite the damage.
Too bad didn't test the 6S... one generation different yet can run a still-supported/updated version of iOS. Would've been way more up-to-date. And is there much of a difference in price with non-plus vs plus? The Plus version would've solved screen size issues, and more/better cameras.
No! Why did you update from ios 10, your phone was rare and one of a kind, you know devs are working there butts of to try to get a tetherd downgrade working to no avail, such a shame.
Wow my dreams phone
Im thinking about getting one for the old games
More videos please🎉
i still using my iphone 6 128gb in 2023 and i think i would be still using it for couple of years more i love it haha
Uhh i still use it 💀💀
how is the battery life??
I still use an iphone 8. It got upgrades until now. Great phone.
Same here, I have a 8 Plus since 2019 💪🏻😎🔝
iphone 6s is still really good, handles most of the games rn like ea fc 24 in medium/high settings, but the sad part is it doesnt support ios 16 and after a few years in like 2026s iphone 6s wont be usable since ios 15 will be unsupported at that time
