Excellent video man! Thank you so much for explaining everything in detail. I've been following all news since it was hacked but really missed a good newbie guide. I think it´s time for me to try this as well. Thank you again!
Just to check since this game and watch has a broken screen and for messing with....are the first two pins supposed to be connected? The wires look separate but with a meter on continuity it rings
quick question.... if I solder the leads to the points inside the game and watch unit, leaving say a small bit of slack... can I leave it inside the unit after I put it back together? of do you unsolder it every time you flash the firmware? if all I have to do to hack it is to replace the cover every time even better.
Yes, you can do that. In my video I just demonstrate how it works. you can for sure make leads and even cut the back for an opening to put the connectors for flashing
Great video! Unfortunately, I think I fried my G&W in the process. I may have soldered some of the debug points together and now it won't turn on. Oh well. On to the next one. 😅
@@RetroResinCA Ah, so you think that might be it? I screwed up and later realized I should have used a finer point solder iron. I think the one I used was too thick and I just soldered the points together. Thanks for that tip. I will try that!
Greetings Tyler great video!! Could I use bits of your video in my upcoming video to show people (in general) hacking the game & watch is possible? I will give you full credit of course.
Considering the size of it's homebrew/hacking community I wouldn't say that at all, however I agree that since it's not a simple sd card/cfw modification that it will turn a lot of people off with the amount of work. More of a nieche style product anyway, but no doubt the community and potential is there..

Would one of those cheap STLinks from Amazon work? The USB ones
should work fine
i have a JRunner from reading and flashing Xbox Nands and an XGo Ti866ii progammer. Can i use either of them for the task?
has to be something with STlink or jtag

Hey, would it be easier to solder header pins to the board? Is there enough space to get the cover on with pins installed? Cheers
you could, I don't have the best experience with soldering, but it can definitely be done
bout to be ur 1000th sub

Nice tutorial, can I play/install SNES roms, or only nes games are supported?
So far can't handle snes, but nes, gameboy, sms work and a few more

yes any stlink will work

an emulator? I know stlink will work, its a clone but im not sure about an emulator.. interesting ill research that

couldn't you just use a Raspberry PI 3B? the GPIO could connect to those 4 pins as well
