    Every point you made was solid T- Bone. I saw your rig at HQ a couple weeks back. I saw the name on the door.
    Something very important that I would emphasize is a good dispatcher can make or break your experience with GP (or any company). Sometimes you may have to go through one or more dispatchers to find the one that suits you best. My second dispatcher has been amazing.

    It's excellent to hear how you explained it. You took 6 weeks off and hopefully they didn't bust your chops doing that. My concern is that I like to take off just a little bit more than one day off per week. If I'm out for 3 weeks I want 4 days off. And I'm out for 2 weeks then I want three days off.
    My place only gives you two weeks off for year paid vacation. And if you're with the company for 20 years you still only get 2 weeks paid vacation. Is it the same there?

That decision has to be up to you, I would look at which one aligns better for what you are looking for as far as home time, pay, do they have Apu’s on the truck, fuel bonuses, benefits, pay, how many miles on average etc. I know it’s not much but I hope this helps.

    I see you have on your RE west shirt. How does this company compare to RE west? Time off, pay, dispatchers what are the biggest differences that come to mind?

    • @TruckinwithTBone
      @TruckinwithTBone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest it all depends on what your looking for. The atmosphere at GP is very laid back, the miles were there and the cpm was higher than RE West although I’m not sure what REW offers currently. Also, the workflow is more streamlined which made a lot of the job easier. Hometime depends on where you live. I stayed out 3 weeks and was off 3 “full” days. If I needed an extra day or so off it wasn’t a big issue as long as it wasn’t every time. They always had me home when they said they would except maybe once and that wasn’t their fault. Hope this helps. Lastly as with most driving jobs the dispatcher can make or break you. GP is good about correcting any issues that arise, you just have to speak up and communicate whenever there’s any kind of issue.

    What about running routes...I run i10 Cali to Dallas and below the 40 Cali to abq. Is that doable with them or they're make me run where they want and what about home time I go thru home twice a week for my 10 hour night and a 34 home nearly every week.

    • @TruckinwithTBone

      That probably wouldn’t work out. They are an OTR company so you would be required to stay out a set amount of time based on your location. That would be better question for a recruiter to let you know what your options would be.

    T bone how much home time does a company driver get.. or the ratio days out to days home .. on looking for 20 to 25 out with 5 or 6 off

    • @TruckinwithTBone
      @TruckinwithTBone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GP does one day for each week out. Example 2 weeks=2 days off. 4weeks=4 days off with a cap at 7days for 7 weeks. They are however pretty fair so if you need an extra day here and there it is usually not a big deal as long as it’s not all the time. Hope this helps.

    • @TruckinwithTBone
      @TruckinwithTBone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry, man. I just saw this comment for some reason. Orientation is in Joliet, IL. They do occasionally run to the LA area but it’s not consistent. As for the northeast and New York, they do Northeast but it wasn’t that often. I never went to New York but it was on my no go list. In orientation they let you pick 4 or 5 places that you do not want to go to and do not send you they unless it’s an oversight. In which case you just let them know and they’ll correct it.

    Now take your hours that you actually worked that means everything besides sleeping and divide that by your check and are your yearly gross and then tell me what you made you made below minimum wage

    • @TruckinwithTBone
      @TruckinwithTBone  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Ok, let’s check that theory out and break it down.
      As stated in the video, I had about 6 weeks off, not counting regular home time.
      That leaves 46 weeks in the year. So, let’s say I worked my full clock in those 46 weeks. That’s 80K divided by 46 weeks for an average weekly pay of $1739/week. Let’s divide that by 70 hours. That breaks down to $24.84/hour. Not great but still way better than minimum wage which is currently $7.25/hour. Even if it was currently $15
      /hour, it’s still 9 more per hour than the minimum. It should be noted that I don’t run my 70 down every week, so that hourly rate would be a little bit higher. Not many jobs out there where you can make 80k in year one. Also, many variables play in to that as a worker.
      I see your point though and appreciate the comment.

Office personnel has changed dramatically. They are no longer "Driver Friendly". Seems like Dispatchers have gone to sh*t. No miles.
