    Your video is very informative. You are unlike many others who simply placed a pot of caladium next to them and they keep talking and talking and talking. Haha. You showed the tuber, the growing process, the products etc, I enjoyed your video MUCH more. Although your video was done 4 years ago, it is still relevant and interesting. Thank you.

    5 weeks to emerge - good to know! I bought a bag (never tried them from tuber before) and potted them up, thinking it was probably too soon (US zone 6) but impatient anyway. Thanks for the video - comprehensive & well-made!

      How are yours going? Looks like we're in the same boat. Zone 6 about 5 weeks ago. Never done this before. One pot has 8 shoots! Did he even cover de-eying in this? It's super effective so far. Did you de-eyed?

    In winter the night/day temperatures are on average 10/20 degrees Celsius.
    Humidity above 70 percent.

Now that its almost fall/winter i need your expert advice if i should wait to plant them. I live in Georgia so i get humidity here and no snow so im sure i can grow them here just not sure when to plant them. I wanted to do them in pots as well. But do you think i can grow them outdoors too? If i do plant them outdoors does that mean i have to get the bulbs out every winter time? Thanks so much again!

    I know this is a slightly older video but I do have a question that I just cannot seem to find a single answer for *anywhere* i look online; When do you know that it's time to repot a caladium? I recently bought one and to me it seems as if the plant may need a bigger pot but it also seems to be growing fine. Do I repot once the roots start to over crowd the soil? Or when the plant(s) are over more than half of the pot size? I want to make sure I am giving it what it needs. Please help a new grower out

I live in zone 5 with cold winters and don’t want to dig up every year. I just wanted a house plant with the beautiful colors of red leaves trimmed in green. What should I do. 8/15/23 at 4:00 pm. Thank you

    • @GrowParadise

      That’s correct, allow it to go dormant over winter and just keep the soil in the pot dry. When it starts to regrow in spring begin watering again.

    If I want to plant my bulbs in a pot, what’s the minimum diameter pot I should use if I plant just one bulb in it? I just got some bulbs and living in Northern California, I’m also wondering if it’s too early to plant them if I start them indoors. One more question: if I start them indoors, how necessary is it that they are in sunlight? I know it’s not the same thing, but I once grew a pot of catnip in a dark bathroom drawer. Any answers to these questions will help me so much. Thanks so much for this super informative video.

    One of the outdoor photos you've shown, there are ferns, rex begonias, and caladiums mingled all together. Is that your own garden? If so, I would like to know what is the silver-leafed plant with burgundy stems nearest the camera in the right corner. I believe I had some cuttings of that, many years ago, but it did not survive, and I can't remember what it is. I feel like it's something within the Acanthaceae family, based on the leaf structure, and it looks very similar to my persian shield. Just with slight difference in texture and color difference.

    Can I plant tubers in the winter indoor? I have a grow light, humidifier and keep temperature at around 20 degrees

    • @GrowParadise
      @GrowParadise  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can, it’s best to keep them completely dry. I forgot about a few of mine and they started to rot on the winter rains. If I had remembered I would have taken them out of the soil, dried them and stored them in paper bags 😃🌱🌳🌿

    How often did you water before they started coming up? Do you just leave them or water when the soil is dry?

    • @GrowParadise
      @GrowParadise  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only water when the soil surface dries out 👍😁

      Cool and dry is a good way to store them, I keep most of my seeds and bulbs that way 👍

    Would you mix soil with vermiculite before planting?

    • @GrowParadise
      @GrowParadise  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drainage would definitely help, vermiculite or perlite would be good. If the soil gets too wet the bulbs can rot 🌱

    Should I plant my tubers in early spring? Or should I make sure all potential frosts are over?

    • @GrowParadise
      @GrowParadise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your planting outside definitely wait until there is no risk of frost 👍

    Try cutting the bulb into small pieces and plant them about 4cm And apply only enough water and used pots that can easily drain. And you can have many babies caladiums

    Hi, I’ve got mine growing on top of my aquarium. It’s warm and humid. But fairly shady, with an east facing window on the other side of the room. Hope these conditions are good? I’m new to caladiums.

      I’d keep watering until it looks as though it’s going to start loosing its leaves. It’s my first winter with Caladiums too so I’m in the same boat as you 😄🌱 good luck and keep me updated 👍
