One more thing. If you look up beyonce Renaissance tour you'll see blue dancing to my power and black parade. You'll love it. Blue is a natural on stage.
the blue man was a representation of his consciousness, lost and then found again when he returned to the water. Beyonce represents his ancestors and the orishas, the deities of the Yoruba tribe and a few others, like santeria. she mostly embodies osun who is the goddess of the rivers and fertility and more. there is alot here. This is a really dense beautiful piece of art; if you are interested in a break down of a lot more of the visuals and symbolism i recommend the "Dissect" podcast, they do great work in breakdowns, very insightful. Also all these songs are on one album called "The Lion King: The Gift" and there are 2 the original release version that has interludes from the movie that transitions each song stringing the narrative and you have the deluxe edition that has 2 more tracks and just the songs no interludes.
Great reaction, Zee! As a Beyoncé fan, it feels so good to revisit this masterpiece and exciting to rewatch with someone that is watching for the first time. For the next short reactions you should definitely check her videos for her self-titled album. At the time, she also released some short videos of the behind the scenes of the whole creative process. You should watch!
Yes. Afrobeat infusion. The Otherside is a prime example of Beyonce playing the Guide and Goddess Oshun(protector of children and fertility)as she is all in white at the end receiving the lost baby into the calming riverwaters of heaven. Throughout the film Bey is dressed as Oshun in either all Gold or white, and also as the water goddess Yemaye. I think maybe I mentioned it in part 1. She studied things from different african cultures when doing this project. She is just sharing about some deities that were taken from the slaves along with their mother tongue when taken from the motherland. It may be also symbolism of losing her first child from a miscarriage. The man (simba) who rose from the water was baptised from the elder who was rafiki. Lots of people tried to accuse her of devilish teachings. Funny how they never go after other cultures that showcase their ancestral old gods. Native American, Latino, Mexican Taino, India, and northern Asian countries still honor theirs, but let Beyonce do it and it's demon worshipping. Ridiculous. You are correct. Simba was greeted by his father. Each song you heard is on the Gift, even the movie interludes.
The songs in Black is King are extended versions of the songs in the gift. She added an additional visuals to lengthen some of the songs. But the album is truly one of my favorites, and I hate that a lot of people did not vibe with it. But I love the sound of Afrobeats.
very underrated, somehow it just got lost in the shuffle, and i think alot of people just didnt realize its a full album and just thought it was the movie soundtrack.
Yes, it's a wonderful album, but it really gets overlooked or forgotten by a lot of people. I don't understand why, because Black Is King is a work of art, but The Gift it's one of my favorites.
I’m glad you loved “Black Parade” the song played in the credits. It was not well received when it first released by other reactors. But when I heard the song on her tour, I was in love with it.
@@Clkdestinations Oh yeah the song did well. I just saw some other reactors react to it at the time and they were saying they weren’t feeling it. But yeah, I’ve liked it since I’ve first heard it.
When you got to "Otherside" your interpretation was spot on. When it came out I had an opinion about this whole section the same as you but I know a bit about Beyonce's past I related it to her multiple miscarriages that she had prior to having what she calls her miracle baby Blue Ivy. I feel like she was using the story of moses as symbolism with her letting her children go to the otherside and her reuniting with them in the garden scene with all of them there. Please watch her documentary "Life Is But A Dream" if you haven't yet that would be an awesome reaction and will give you more background on Bey.
@sakhilengwenya5632 she mentioned that one which was that song she wrote about it but if I'm not mistaken I believe she later mentioned she has more than one if I'm not mistaken. I may be wrong so don't quote me lol. But Otherside in my top 5 songs of all time. It does something to my spirit she is a true Alien Superstar we don't deserve
You can pause as many times as you like, it's a reaction commentary video, you don't want to get your video taken down, so do you, I love what you do, and brown skin girl gets me every time, I'm walking my dog and tears are flowing, the artist Tiara Wack that was rapping in the white on The power song, loved all the artist on the album, Africa and the diaspora together
What I love about this movie is that it showed me (as a Norwegian) so much imagery, outfits, hair, faces, colours and compositions that aren't that present in my life and my culture (if any). I'm very grateful for that! And I appreciate your reaction (as always) and energy. You're like an amplifier for positivity and uplifting messages: you take them in and pass them forward. :) That's an awesome trait to have
Don’t care about what people say I love your reaction videos and I come back for more each and every-time…..Let my love for your channel and you perish that 1% of hatred comments you receive ❤
This album is insanely good with so much meaning behind it. Love your Beyonce reactions, more please! Also, did you notice the Kobe colours for the Spirit Acapella section ;)
The part in My Power where she repeats the same thing(the three women) means sound the drums. I remember her talking about it. And I LOVE Beyoncé let the sing in their natice tongue that made it more powerful to me. You cant help but dance when this somes on. To me The Gift is top 3 best soundtracks from a movies to me.
I CAN'T WAIT for you to review the Renaissance tour! You will want to go to her next concert, trust me the tickets are worth every penny. It is an experience of a lifetime. It all comes together from all of the previous reviews you have done. This woman is not only one of the best singers, storytellers, and gifted annotated entertainers of this generation. She is the best! She is who the celebrities are in ahh with and she sets the bar. The vice president, Paul Macartney, Ohprah, and many more went to the RENAISSANCE TOUR.
For future reactions, I highly recommend 1. Lemonade film 2. Making the Gift [behind the scenes special on The Gift which is the album these songs in Black is King are from] 3. The music videos from her visual album BEYONCÉ [self titled] as short reactions in between :) it’s the same album that has some songs you’ve previously reacted to ❤
It's African tribal body painting used to show status and heritage. In Africa, the colour green represents healing, life and growth, reminding the audience of the healing and blossoming Africa is engaging in once again
In short this album was speaking to the Black Diaspora to hold our head up high. Despite what we have been told there is much to be proud of descending from Africa.
I have watched your videos for some time now but today i became a subscriber because your reactions are so sincere, it feels more like watching you make a discovery and make extrapolation on the essence of what you hear. It's something i don't see often on TH-cam. Thank you.
Today is the perfect day for review! Beyoncé has a Birthday! I was just thinking about the second part and then I have a notification from your channel. Gonna watch in joy! Thank you! God bless you! 🙏🏼
All these songs were on the 2019 album “The Gift” which takes inspiration from the lion king. Like someone mentioned earlier this movie includes a lot of “extended” versions of the songs to fit the time frame of the visuals. Like addition of the last chorus before blues part on Brown Skin Girl, it’s not on the original version. (If you’re gonna work out to this listen to the deluxe version, it has an extra song)
I really love your reactions and enjoy when you pause and share your insights and questions and thoughts so dont feel bad at all or feel like youre pausing too much. Also in "Otherside" when you said she might be hinting at the afterlife youre right. She's singing "Katika mawingu mababu" which is swahili and roughly means in the clouds with the ancestors.
Love this album a beautiful work of art her work ethic is crazy you definitely need to react to Beyonce perform my power and Black parade from the Renaissance tour with her daughter 🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you haven't done so already, watch the making of the gift album. I love it. Just to see how all the songs came together. All the songs in this film are from the gift album. Super underrated. I feel more folks should have paid attention to it. The album actually has incerts from the lions king movie so its inspired by it. 😊 love your reactions.
Much shorter reaction suggestion: you should definitely watch the documentary on the making of Black Is King! Especially since BIK is still fresh on your mind, it’s really neat to see what went into the making of the film.
Excellent review! FYI Brown skin girls had cameos of Kelly Roland, Lupita Nyong'o, Naomi Campbell, Beyoncé's mom Tina Knowles-Lawson and featured daughters Blue Ivy and the infant Rumi Carter. Keep doing great work and Blessings to your family.
Baby Blue Blue is so cute. Now she's heading a tour with Bey as the opener 😋😋🤣🤣. And unfortunately dear for a troll yes it is necessary for them. They have nun better to do. Also this is not the soundtrack to the movie. This is Black Is King which is through Disney and Parkwood I believe. Then the Lion King has an actual soundtrack. My fav song isn't even in the movie 😭😭. It plays during the credits and is the best one lol
Watching this masterpiece again here felt like I was actually sitting next to you and sharing this experience and whole spectrum of feeling that this film once put me through. It was brilliant and breathtaking at times. Than you for what you are doing. I very much enjoy going through all the music and video reactions you put out. Your honesty and pure intentions make me believe in real believers and beautiful art that move those believers. Please never stop 🔥❤️
I've been anticipating this vid. The wall from water are water containers used across Africa (Bey doesn't miss with the details), the songs are all from the album the gift which itself is a journey through the movie and I think you'd really enjoy her doc 'making the gift'
Watching it again, the cameo's from her daughter in Bigger, my power and spirit are so poignant. Seeing the cut away to blue when she said my bloodline on the frontline gave me CHILLS (side-note her daughter has a dancing cameo to my power and black parade during her current tour) and black parade isn't part of the album, it was released as a single, prob too spicy for a Disney soundtrack.
Otherside also visualizes a rebirth and return to one’s roots…just my interpretation . (I’m commenting in real time so to see you get there with the link to the lion king is satisfying. 😊)
A good reaction: year of 4 a 21 minute intimate documentary showing the bts of her year off and her journey leading up to create her album 4. Its on her youtube channel. It lets you in on bey as a person❤
As I'm commenting I'm watching the part of my power u see the lady singing the third verse is Busiswe meaning blessing in xhosa its a south african culture
Hi Zee I don't know if you know it yet, but that was Blue Ivy who sings with her mother in Brown skin Girl. Brown Skin is also the song which Blue Ivy won her first Grammy with.S he makes an appearance trough the whole film. Like in My power where she says thats the bloodline on the front line
One of the issues that motivated Beyoncé to make this album is the fact that The Lion King story is based in Africa but none of the accents or African languages were included in the animation. Of coz, Disney can't make such big changes because it's a franchise and it might not sell so they included a South African legendary actor, John Kani, to bring that accent and have a real African language that the character Rafiki would speak which was IsiXhosa from South Africa. Yes, the soundtrack from the Lion King is very white and too English so Beyoncé compiled her own soundtrack, included the greatest African sounds, actors and told the story the African way. On "Otherside" you see her placing her baby in a basket, yes it's a reference to Moses story in the Bible but its very personal to her because she miscarried her first born baby boy before birth of Blue Ivy so that was parallel to what Moses mother was running away from because first born sons were targeted in the Bible at the time. On "My Power" you see all these ladies dancing from black&white Square framed- that's deliberate. Women have been boxed for ages and she had been advocating against that for ages, which is why you see black women on that song with very short hair, dark skins, thick bodies and some are even pregnant. She has been fighting against that sing her song "Run The World(Girls)" where she says "Strong enough to bear the children then get back to business" and it makes sense because there is a narrative that black women loses power, jobs and finances once they get pregnant, which is what also motivated her last Grammy performance heavily pregnant with twins. She advocating for visibility of pregnant black women in the arts industry. Another thing that you probably didn't notice, most women in the film had special hats and decorations covering their heads, those were customized cultural expressions that they had to bring on their characters as a representation of where they come from. I can talk for ages about this film because it is my favorite and I can't get enough of it. Thank you for this reaction, been longing for it. Love, Sinethemba from Cape Town, South Africa ❤️❤️
The lion King musical and Stage show are the real money makers in the Lion King Franchise and that's made up african actors, dancers, songs, attire and dances. A lot of the songs are also sung in various african languages
What a lovely surprise for this to drop on her birthday! Thank you so much! I'm glad I waited for your reaction to this whole thing to watch it for the first time, too. Yes, certain parts of The Lion King hit differently depending on your season of life, and yes, all of the songs are from The Gift album. As a South Asian girl, 'Brown Skin Girl' is so special to me; it makes me feel so beautiful and proud of my skin tone and history. I love how she incorporated such iconic women in the lyrics and video (e.g. Noami Campbell, Kelly Rowland, Lupita Nyong'o) and a South Asian girl wearing traditional jewellery; it was such a moment. The 'Bollywood' culture rarely ever celebrates the brown skin tone. Blue Ivy won a Grammy for her contributions to the song. 'My Power' is the song from the album Beyoncé has been performing on her current tour; Blue Ivy does the dance routine with Beyoncé. Please check it out; she's only 11 years old, smashing it! - th-cam.com/video/xBcLo0Bc9Zs/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUQYmV5b25jZSBibHVlIGl2eQ%3D%3D 'Spirit' is also a meaningful song, and I'm glad you noticed how Beyoncé can sing the high notes and bright you back down; it's one of her many skills. Please do everything else before Renaissance: chronological order is best, so you can see her development as an artist. I'm resending you my request list. Sorry! Beyoncé 🔽 • Scared of Lonely • Flaws and All (live at Renaissance World tour) • Mine (feat Drake) • Heaven (it's about her miscarriage) • Top Off (feat Jay Z & Future) Jhené Aiko songs 🔽 • Wading • 3:16am • To Love & Die • W.A.Y.S • Overstimulated • Eternal Sunshine (Live at Nipsey Hussle memorial)
about 22:00: Man I love your reactions, i'm a big fan of beyonce from brazil but now I watch all your videos and i'm really happy that the youtube algorithm brought me here. You're doing great, thanks for your time!
Another banger reaction!! Please try and react to Life is but a Dream, it’s another Beyonce documentary! Her 2013 visual album is also a great watch !!
People are always hating on Beyonce, she learned a long time ago to ignore them. I laugh at them, just haters trolling everything she do. I don't know if you noticed her daughter Blue Ivy was in a few of the videos. You should watch the videos from this, they are different from what you saw. The painted guy is a dancer in one of the videos. Great reaction, I loved it, until next time 😀😀
People complaining about the flag have nothing to do with hating on Beyonce. It's against the law to deface a nation's flag. That's what he was referring to. strangely enough there weren't any complaints about the defaced flag. Maybe because America loves Kobe just that much.
The album was infused with Afrobeats and there were alot of African artists, writers and producers used for this. That's why the "culture vulture" couldn't stick. Also, this was completely filmed in Africa
React to Quando Rondo & yb’s joint album “3860” I promise there are tracks on there you’ll love especially judging by your AI Youngboy 2 reaction. Keep it up🔥
This was great. Both parts. You got most of what she was saying, everything you missed was cultural so it’s ok!! A few suggestions for Beyoncé content Glastonbury - pregnant Lemonade - marriage Documentary-personal Be Alive-live Citizens festival- hubby Tidal concert- all night Ape sh!t-video Just a few spectacular performances and pieces of art.

the building you reacted to and called a "cool building" is the National Arts Theatre in Lagos, Nigeria

Check out the Lion King Franchise and you'd be surprised just how deep it goes
- th-cam.com/video/xBcLo0Bc9Zs/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUQYmV5b25jZSBibHVlIGl2eQ%3D%3D
'Spirit' is also a meaningful song, and I'm glad you noticed how Beyoncé can sing the high notes and bright you back down; it's one of her many skills.
Please do everything else before Renaissance: chronological order is best, so you can see her development as an artist.
I'm resending you my request list. Sorry!

Thanks for this reaction. Enjoyed watching you being you. 🎉
Thank you for the reaction 😭
REALLY ENJOYED THIS❤❤❤
The album was infused with Afrobeats and there were alot of African artists, writers and producers used for this. That's why the "culture vulture" couldn't stick. Also, this was completely filmed in Africa
WELP!!!!!!! This is a DOPE reaction:)
Honey do your thing I like the discussion aspects ❤ I like to see if you're thinking what I thought looking at a videos for the first time 😂❤
