  • SHE MADE ME UGLY CRY YALL! We should know by now that the name Beyoncé is synonymous with "beyond legendary, other worldly, next level" and she proves why in this film! Please go watch the film in its entirety on Disney+ before watching my reaction! Don’t forget to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, & SHARE with your friends!! Social medias down below, add me!!
    #Beyonce #BlackIsKing #Disney
The visual album from Beyoncé reimagines lessons of "The Lion King" through the use of visuals celebrating and highlighting Black in all of its glory. The music featured in the film is from her album The Gift, which in itself is a love letter to Africa and all of its people!

I'm so sad that Michael Jackson missed all this. I can imagine he went through Alot with his skin. I think he would have cried when he heard this song. R. I. P MJ

Absolutely! The ridicule he got for his skin is mind blowing to this day and it shocks me how casually cruel people were to him :(

@@AXDRE1225 plus I know he’d have loved African pop music today because when we Africans didn’t have pop music MJ would collaborate with African musicians still he also loved working with Akon and Majek Fashek in the early 2000s before he passed and he loved Beyoncé too

@John C yes they are amazing too.... However this particular song is a rally to uplift the esteem of brown skin girls in a society that has relegated them to 3rd class citizens for so long.

This film reminds me of all of the lessons and conversations that my parents had with me and my older brother about African-American cultures. Like I remember the trips to B-More, so we can go to the wax museum. The books about African-American inventors. The years of positive affirmations. Our family coming to our defense. The discipline when we needed.
Idk, this film just makes me remember my deep appreciation for their initiative of making sure we know and are proud of ourselves, our people and of our cultures.

18:10 The film was trying to represent him waking up from the "Life", cars, jewelry and faceless women, and then Scar wakes him up and he is reminded that he has RESPONSIBILITIES, he has to become king, he has No time for HAKUNA MATATAS, and then Already comes on telling him it's time to become king.....I think alot of ppl forget that this film also follows the Lion King Movie, Like Find Your Way Back is the stars talking to Simba, the same stars that Mufasa mentions right before the song starts.....Ima HUGE Lion King Fan so I caught Alll them subs loll

I get it. I’ve listened to the album so many times. I think I cried the first 6 times I played Brown Skin Girls so I wasn’t expecting to get emotional when I saw the video especially since the album came out a year ago. I was bopping and singing along then at some point mid video I just started bawling. I don’t know how she does it but she always does something that just moves me to tears.

I want to know how this movie relates to the actual Lion King movie and scenes from the Bible can someone explain it is there a video were someone breaks it down frame by frame and goes back and forth about the Lion King to this movie and which parts are about the Bible chapter and verse I would appreciate it otherwise this is best a well directed music video.

    • @anna-mariadavis5914

This really isn’t about the lion king as much as it is about black people appreciating and knowing who we are

    • @DeviDubz
      @DeviDubz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

i would love to see a side by side break down as well, bc it is very complex trying to decipher everything. From my knowledge there are 3 different angles in which you can watch the film, a Biblical angle, a lion king remake angle, and then the celebration and history of African culture angle. If you find any youtubers break it down, let me know please !!

Also R. I. P 🙏 to love divine. She's the dancer with the red hair during Keys to the Kingdom. She unfortunately died before this movie came out. God rest her soul

Black is King is definitely THE PROJECT. Is the biggest music project I've ever seen and it's super well thought. If you go deeper in the story you will realize how big The Gift album is. Apparently this is how Beyoncé finished the love letter to Africa. This is an important and powerful message of self love, how important is our history and embrace it, never forget our culture, our roots, our ancestors. And also never lose your way. Seeing this makes me feel loved and empowered and proud even I'm not Black but I'm Brown and I received the message. As a recommendation for you, watch it again and go deeper into the story you will find it even better. Beyoncé is King

The baby could also be representative of her miscarriages and she ended up on the otherside in white reunited with her baby. And the guy representing adult Simba was reunited in spirit with Mufasa.

i've been seeing this theory on twitter, and it's so sad, yet brilliant how she can reinvent the lion king story, celebrate blackness and it's history, all while including her personal life

I feel like the songs where structured not in LP order but, in order of the movie sequences. Like the visit to Scars den and the elephant grave yard which is the boy coming across the slum lord and biker boys, who I believe represent the hyenas. at least that was my interpretation.
