I really enjoyed the show but it was on my second watching that I understood why he was turned on by the dead guys wife it is explained. I'm so excited to read Leah on the Offbeat! I absolutely loved Simon vs. and I just saw the film adaptation as well and I LOVED IT! The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet was one of my favourite books of last year, but I still haven't even read the second book and I didn't even know there was going to be a third one omg I literally just got The Seven Husbands and I'm hearing nothing but AMAZING things about it! I absolutely love Good Morning Midnight! It was one of my favorite books that I read in 2016. Be warned: it's a little slow and very character driven, but if you liked The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet you'll really like this!

Hi Emily... I know you've gone off Blake Crouch a bit because you've read a couple of not-so-great ones in a row, but I'd encourage you to give Abandon a try. That was a 4.5 star read for me a couple years back and I still think about it sometimes!

Thanks for another great video, and I know exactly how you feel about series, for I have a very hard time with trying to read/listen to a series, and then I wind up getting distracted by other books and then i forget to go back to those previous series until a great amount of time has passed. I am currently still reading and answering questions with the massage therapy textbook Fibromyalgia and Chronic Mayo-facial Pain Handbook. I don't know if I told you, but I have been a professional massage therapist for the past 7 years, and every 2 years, I have to take 12 hours of CEU credits, and in order to complete my requirements for this year is the book I just mentioned and the Trigger Point Therapy Workbook. I also just got done with listening to the first book in the Crazy Rich Asians series, and I just started to the second book, China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan which I am hoping is going to be a fun read. I also did pick up a copy of the Poppy War earlier, so i will let you know when I wind up reading it, and what I think about it as well. I also decided to start re reading/listening to the complete Harry Potter series. I have been under a great deal of stess, so i figured that reading that would be fun. I am also picking up on occasion, the book Schultz and Peanuts a Biography by David Michaelis. Thanks for telling me about all of these books. Happy reading.

I feel like we normally have very similar taste so I will say it took me forever to get through the first third of “Altered Carbon” - like you I was not impressed and not interested. But I have to stay I stuck with it and I ended up really liking it! There’s more cool stuff later on. Just in case you ever decide to give it another go!
I usually do not do cover buys but I went into a store that had a bunch of classics with a leather bound look and they were so pretty I had to get a couple. I ended up settling of "Tales of Horror" a collection of H.P. Lovecraft and "Arabian Nights" because they were both pretty and I will actually read them.

Run by Blake Crouch sounds so much like Bird Box by Josh Malerman. I would also describe Bird Box with that kind of way except characters. I don't think I hated anyone in Bird Box.

I also do not like when books get weirdly sexual. It makes me feel like a prude, but I’m not there to read sex scenes for starters. At best, it’s disruptive to the story and at worst it often takes a weird, fetishistic turn. So, not sure if I’ll get to Altered Carbon now, although I have friends who are obsessed with the show.

The Long Walk is character driven and I usually prefer plot driven so I wouldn't say it's a good book to decide if we have similar taste! Stephen King isn't one of my favorite authors!

I think we dont like the same types of books. I read the long walk and it bored me so bad. I havent even finished it. And I have only like 3 chapters left.
The Long Walk is character driven and I usually prefer plot driven so I wouldn't say it's a good book to decide if we have similar taste! Stephen King isn't one of my favorite authors!

Idk if you'll be interested, but The Devil of Nanking could be interesting. It's a suspenseful and deeply unsettling, messed up book, where part of it is set in Nanking during WWII. It is triggering howver.....
