- Salmon Fishing on the Fly at its best. Quite often we blank while fishing for Salmon, but very occasionally we are lucky enough to be at the right time and the right place. Here is one of the very special fishing days that will always remind in my memory. Salmon Fishing in Ireland doesn't get any better than that really. On the day I managed to hook 8 salmon on the fly while landing most of them. Salmon Flyfishing on the River Blackwater can be exceptional at times. Most of the salmon grilse have been in the river for many weeks, as that fishing day, came in just a few days before the end of the season.
In the process, I have been improving my Spey casting methods, namely the Snap-T Spey Cast you will see in the video and also the Single Spey in the form of an Underarm Single Spey Cast.

Eyup Marcin. Jeremy Wade's book 'How to Think Like a Fish: And Other Lessons from a Lifetime in Angling' is well worth a read if you don't have a friend with a generous father to take advice from. And six Salmon in one day really is mind-blowing. Well done and I'll sithi after, Dave.

Well done Marcin...!! A red letter "afternoon" for sure.!! The trick with salmon is depth and speed and most of all luck...!! The Lug is a fantastic pool to hold fish but when they are running in a fresh drop of water it can be truly magic !! So glad you are enjoying your salmon fishing on the fly, it's the best feeling in the world when your cast goes out right .... over some lovely fish and your fly is covering them in the right way. You're absolutely right there sir and thanks for the comment. Loving it big time. A good cast is almost, just almost as good as hooking a fish. I figured by now the depth, presentation and the speed is the key. It surprises me how many people don't seem to be changing tactics and presentations often enough and therefore don't have the results they could have. I tried hitching lately and got 4 fish on, during a very slow fishing. I'm back there on Saturday and a few more times before the season is up.

I would much rather see one piece of yt that is well presented and edited but maybe 45mins long than alot of short rushed and banged out for content films . Think like a fish 😉 in fairness tho, it's really difficult to get any confidence when you haven't got your fish yet, so just keep at it. Ideally try to fish after the rivers stopped rising and falling after a decent rain

@@Whatsthecraicsir I've got the 8/9 first and felt the rod still had a lot of spare power, so upgraded to 9/10. For me, it's a better match if you want to get the distance
