    3/4 of the pike hits during jerking are when the lure stops. Try the technique of 2 hard pulls, then 1-2 seconds pause, 2 pulls again, 1-2 seconds pause, etc. You'll see a difference in the results.

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah definitely man, they always love that tiny pause, probably the most exciting form of lure fishing 😅

    Nice vid. First fish caught on the pause. Love the pause. Classic.

      Thanks David! The pause is definitely the most exciting part, when you get that sixth sense that there’s a fish under the lure, it’s hard to explain the feeling 😁

    Nice to see the harbour, I know they have boats docked in lakes in the US too but in Australia I can't think of any lakes that have boats docked like that. Usually just ramps and huge car parks.

      @senanstanleyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a safe enough spot but at the same time there’s always trouble makers doing things to the boats !

    Do you fish much on the scariff side of the lake I don't have the same success down here as you, I'm really only getting back into the fishing and learning a lot from your channel keep them coming .thanks Mark

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mark, ya the scariff end is full of big fish, lots of good weedbeds this time of year for pike and rocky structures to hold the trout. Side imaging will help you to find them structures to concentrate on. ☺️

      @NobleKorhedron the best option for us is 1mm 105lb fleurocarbon. Pike won’t bite through that. I’ve used it for 4 years now and you can imagine how many meter pike it’s landed and I’ve never ever been broken off. You can’t see the “weakness” on wire until it’s too late and snaps, heavy fleuro you can notice nicks after 20-30 fish and then change leader accordingly, it’s really the best option in my opinion.

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NobleKorhedronyou’re welcome to your opinion, I’m not going to tell you how to fish. If you don’t like it you don’t have to watch. Thank you.

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @NobleKorhedron all good friend. lose the anti-kink vane. Simple leader for lure fishing we use -> mainline 60-80lb braid - swivel(palomar knot) - around 60cm of 1mm 105lb fleurocarbon tied to a 250lb stayloc snap - to your lure. It’s very simple but effective. See my previous video on how to tie your fleuro leader. Lose the wire, you won’t look back, just don’t use anything lighter than 1mm 105lb fleuro. And use good knots, that’s most important, it will not fail, I’ve used it for 4-5 years now.

    Nice lures, Have to get some now ! Do you crush the barbs down for easier unhooking ?

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Colin! No I don’t debarb any of my pike lures, honestly with stiff rods you will just lose a huge amount of fish when they roll on the surface, a small barb on a hook won’t do any more damage to a fish than the treble hook already has done ☺️ that’s just my opinion man, I took out 2 lads yesterday, one lad had barbless trebles, hooked 4 fish lost 3 at the net due to barbless hooks, it’s just a nightmare trying to land them even if you keep pressure on, I’d rather keep the small Barb on them, never had any problem unhooking a pike ☺️🙌

    • @colinhalligan8527
      @colinhalligan8527 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve all mine crushed and rarely loose fish but I’m not fishing from a boat could be something to do with a moving boat ? Bit easier to get out of a finger also on a bad day 😂

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh I hear ya man there’s definitely some positives to it 😂👍 pulled a hook from my thumb last year, pike was still attached to it in the net at the time, sore one 😂👍

    American pike guy here with a tip ! When ya get a short strike or follow don't pull the bait out of the water ! Instead leave 3-4 ft of line out from the tip and make side to side sweeps with the rod tip ! It aggravates a pike ! If he follows but still doesn't strike sweep it over his head or a figure 8 pattern ! They will come after it buddy !

    • @senanstanleyfishing
      @senanstanleyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great advice there man! I find that also, casting back over it immediately will get a second strike, it’s just when they suddenly appear under the rod Tip and bolt off when they see you that annoys me 😂👍 all part of pike fishing , they appear out of nowhere 😁
