She always has a huge smile on her face, and with MISA sets a rock-solid beat for Band Maid songs. I've heard other members of the band (especially MISA) mess around on stage pulling funny faces and trying to get her to mess up. Her double kick drumming is insane, it sounds like machine gun fire. It's no wonder she can eat a lot of food, she must burn so many calories.
We are truly blessed to have so many great female Japanese drummers, Akane, Junna, Haruna, Tamu, Yoyoka et al! All great technicians, amazing endurance, consistency and above all a love for their music played with a smile on their faces….
Keith Moon got noticed 'cos he was mad. Ginger Baker because he was a flawed genius. Then there was Akane. Thanks to Ban Maid's complete lack of egos suddenly you have a drummer who is not only super talented but allowed to shine. And shine she does - the happiest most personable drummer in the world and I would suggest probably in the top three based on shere ability. An essential part of Band Maid's sound is the presence of drums working beautifully with Misa's bass to drive their songs hard and sure. If there was ever a test of a drummer it is RINNE and Akane hits it out of the park. Another truly gifted musician in band of genius.
