One of the best voices you will ever hear. Thanks for this reaction. If you want to listen to something else from her that is more contemporary then please check out her performance of Falling Free, live at the Old Theater in Torshavn. Fantastic music and vocals again. Great sound quality in the recording too.
I love to watch reactions from people who actually know what they are talking about and listening to!❤ thanks for an amazing analysis of her talent 😊 I have known Eivør for more than 20 years and attended many concerts, she never disappoints and is a complete package of an artist!
The echo is natural. It's a natural cathedral. What I love about this video is that it was this video that John Lunn saw. He then invited her in for a session and Eivor went on to co-compose the soundtrack for The Last Kingdom over 5 years. Eivor and John are the dream team. I think if you search through interviews that Eivor sang out of her head over music already recorded by John and they recorded the main theme on the first attempt. Eivor is astonishing not only vocally but also musically. She is my favorite vocalist ever.
Been watching multiple reactions to this amazing song, and this one is easily the best of them all because you're actually explaining what she is doing. Well done!
I loved your reaction. She is such a great and versatile artist. If you want to see something of hers that is quite different from this but equally amazing, check out her performance of Falling Free live in Torshavn.
I love the fact that you do more unusual reactions and not just what is popular at the time. I have found many artists that are more of a spiritual experience then the norm from you. So Thank you 😊
The title translates to spellbound and she describes her devotion to the mage that did this to her. The "beatbox" episodes are when she is performing "Galdr" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galdr which is a sourcery/enchantment mostly performed by women. Seeresses outof which the three most important are Urd, Skuld and Verdandi that weave the cloth of destiny for all men and women. Old Norse mythology. If she really does galdr or just imitates it, is up to what you believe.
Eivor will be in Glasgow performing in the Autumn this year 🤞 I highly recommend going and having a listen. You won't be disappointed. She sounds even more incredible live. 😊 I love her she is amazing! 💜
I have goosebumps everywhere. 😍 What a great singer. And the setting is a dream. You get wanderlust straight away. By the way, Eivor also made the soundtrack for the Netflix series The last Kingdom - epic and beautiful! Greetings from Germany 💕
Eivør's musical intelligence is off the charts. She is a Nordic spirit who walks among us, and the music just comes pouring out of her. She has no equal.
As a metalhead, this is one of my favourite non-metal songs. It's so primal and I feel like she's a mystical fairy calling me deep into an enchanted forest, never to be seen again. And I wouldn't be mad about it either 🤣 If I'm not mistaken, her name is pronounced eye-vour(like the word four, but with a v). Any Faroese people out there, please correct me if I'm wrong haha I highly recommend her song Falling Free live. You can hear her sing in English and it is another stunning performance 🤘
I'm not a singer but you seem to be able to explain what is happening with the body structure and make it make sense. More than most vocal coaches I've watched here on the tube. Superb reaction. Cheers from NC, Usa.
Such a great reaction!!! You should totally check out other songs from her like “Falling Free” live from the Old Theatre and “Salt” live from the Juke Train. She is the voice you hear in the TV series The Last Kingdom.
Loved your reaction, she truly is one of a kind. Welcome to the world of Eivor. I don't know, if you ever react to the same artist twice (I've just stumbled across your channel) but I highly recommend checking out her tune "Falling Free".
Sam, I really enjoyed your reactions! It's like Christmas came early for you ;) I love her voice, and still am stunned and amazed by her talent.. Gets me every time.
Thanks for this reaction! She is definitely one of the finest live singers I've ever heard... Had the pleasure of seeing her in Oran Mor a few yrs ago for a tenner (!) - truly captivating in English or Faroese. Hard to go wrong with any of her live stuff, her dynamic range is nuts (plus her and her band were super lovely and clearly having a great time entertaining people)
Eye-veor is how you pronounce her first name 🤣 I'm so happy to see you reacting to my fellow faroe islander 🥰 First Dimash then BTS and now Eivør... You do a pretty good job covering more and more of my favorite music 😄
Check her other live perfomances: "Falling free" , "Wake me up", "True love", "Boxes", "Salt", "Gullspunnin", "Mánasegl" Eivor has a wonderful voice! The reason she sounds kind of operatic is because she has said that she's a vocal technique nerd, she studied a variety of styles, from opera (There's actually a very old live recording of her singinf Trollabundin with an opera twist) to throat singing and beatbox, also growling too. Glad you gave her a chance!, thank you :D She needs more recognition.
Hello, As always your reaction is so much more interesting than the average reaction style. Thank you ! Like everyone else I suggest you look at "Falling free". But there is also so much more : "wake me up", "bridges", "boxes", "salt"... each song is one of her own. each time she is out of this world !
Eivør from the same concert in western Norway feat. the band Vamp w/their song "Tir n'a Noir" (again inspired by Irish folk): th-cam.com/video/97HQ1U-uGaU/w-d-xo.html Apparently the crowd was there for a Vamp concert, explains the full band set up on stage, and they had Eivør with them to contribute on (at least) Tir n'a Noir + this solo guest performance, guess that's why the crowd looked as "spellbound" as many of us from her performance In this song Vamp sings in 🇧🇻 while Eivør sings her parts in 🇫🇴 The concert was also sent in its entirety on NRK (Norwegian public broadcaster)
This is one of the great performances on U tube... Pure magic. As usual you pick up on the tech stuff as well as pure artistry of it all. 👌🏻✨👍🏼😎 Tip watch some Eskimo throat singers facing each, other they usually hold hands.. this is the sound of the Land, sky and sea ..echoing down through the millenia....
LOL! watching your vids are almost = to :D Here let's get Spellbound by Trolls. Eivør performs it a bit different every time. Take a bit of traditional Norse (also Farao isles, back in the days) and mix it w Innuit throat singing techniques, sprinkle it w a bit of Eivør MAGIC, and taaaa Daaaaa! And KUDOS to NRK sound techs, they too are AmZn! Top Notch. Had the pleasure to experience them once, loooong time ago, previous life time-like ;)
She is truely fantastic!!!!!! You should try her performance: "Falling Free" ( LINK: th-cam.com/video/KNPIdGBn7M4/w-d-xo.html ) Simply love that one!!!!
I read that Faroese is about as close as you will find as to Old Norse would have been spoken .. so .. what she is singing YOUR ancestors may have heard as Vikings were about to BBQ some of those relatives .. :)
Discovered her yesterday ... captivating! I see she is actually Faroese, don't think I've come across anyone from there before. The outdoor setting reminded me of a Wardruna + Aurora + Oslo Fagottkor performance of Helvegen:- th-cam.com/video/cg0TQyjdHJ0/w-d-xo.html
4:04 It reminds me of fairytales and myths when a beautiful woman appears before a weary traveler and offers her help... but there's something not quite *right* about her... she's just a little too still, too ethereal... not quite human 🧚♀️🧛♀️🧜♀️🧝♀️🧞♀️
Hi. Is it possible that you will react to japanese folk/pop/indie/classical crossover artist Kokia? She is so amazimg, but not that much popular... But I really want to hear what you will think about her voice and technique. Can you react to her?
Love the Faroese (and Icelandic) name convention of differentiating between sexes regarding surnames. Eivør is the daughter of Pál (Pálsdóttir). If it was a son it would be Pálsson. Norway, Denmark and Sweden has lost this..
For more varieties of traditional Scandinavian music, highly recommend this great "modern interpretation" of a Sami joik by Ella Marie Hætta: th-cam.com/video/odpREEp-uOo/w-d-xo.html Samis are indigenous people originating further North in Norway (and Scandinavia), and joik their fascinating traditional "chanting singing style" deeply rooted in nature
Here's her final (and winning) performance in the same live TV show Stjernekamp where established 🇧🇻artists compete in different genres: th-cam.com/video/zo3MIDp7owc/w-d-xo.html
And here's Vegard Bjørsmo from last year's Stjernekamp with his take on the joik "Ella" (originally made by Marie Boine): th-cam.com/video/LVBrbi7M87Q/w-d-xo.html
And this year's Stjernekamp winner; Bjørn Tomren with a great merge between traditional 🇧🇻 folk, throat singing and eastern instrument: th-cam.com/video/GzjMUFAt3wE/w-d-xo.html
I never see a mention of her cover of Leonard cohen's "Famous Blue Rain Coat". It..is..freaking...amazing! She took a song that I always thought was just mediocre and turned it into a song that is so emotional it literally tears me up. I get chills down my spine when she does the chorus. th-cam.com/video/iMEyZLhq_9U/w-d-xo.html
You should seriously consider reacting to her singing "Heyr himnna smiaut" (or something like that .. different alphabet) .. "" - th-cam.com/video/EXUbSmbs_lg/w-d-xo.html
She is faroese not norwegian
I found this out after I’d filmed and edited 🥴 the perils of going into these videos blind! 😩
Easy mistake to make since the concert is in Norway for Norwegian TV!
@@SSTVocalCoach well blind reactions got it charm so keep doing them blind :)
@@SSTVocalCoach nice reaction. cannot believe that's the only eivor-reaction? have you tried "wake me up" live? you won't believe your ears
No reverb. No post. This is live and thos is how sje sounds. Truly incredible

Falling Free live is EPIC!! 😁
Yes kind of a slow build but what a finish
That performance is without a doubt one of my favorites by any artist in any genre ever!

Eivor is an amazing musician.
she said in an interview that she picked up the throat singing from an Inuit woman in northern Canada
so far you have explained this performance well beyond anyone
Sam, I really enjoyed your reactions! It's like Christmas came early for you ;) I love her voice, and still am stunned and amazed by her talent.. Gets me every time.
I love Eivør! She's awesome. She did the soundtrack to netflix series "The last kingdom".
Check out "Falling free" live next. It's epic!
I’ve never heard her before but am amazed! I’m struck at how parts of her singing sound very similar to Native American Indian
Also extremely similar to North African singing particularly of the eastern Algerian region …the Chaoui Berbers sing this way
Oh gosh! I love Eivor, I’m sure I’m going to enjoy this reaction
Thanks for this reaction! She is definitely one of the finest live singers I've ever heard... Very mesmerizing with her vocals and that stunning location.
If you haven’t already, you should check out Í Tokuni (Into the Mist). Either live or the video (which is stunning). That song is so beautiful
If you have heard Eivor before and listen to this song, you know what will come after he presses play, after he said he was in awe.
Your channel is amazing dude
More Eivør reactions, please! :D
The songs "Salt", "Falling Free" or "Truth" are really good. All live, of course. :)

Well like so many before have said...you have got to check out "falling free"
You should listen to her in Boxes, live 2012
She's a magnificent singer on earth and in heven a godes... Skøll Freya...

She is amazing. If you doing more check out "Monster" and/or "Falling Free" with her.
Right behind the camera is a huge cliff.
She is singing about beeing spellbound by a sorcerer. He has her soul and heart in his grasp. Is it good or bad?
Going to see Heilung in march rhis yeah, and this will be warm up band for Heilung... AM I EXCITED? YES!
LOL! watching your vids are almost = to :D

Personally I love reactions that are minimally interfering!
Please, react to "Boxes" (live in Tórshavn) by her! :D
She is not Norwegian, but in parts I am truly reminded of joiks, and I gather there is a connection to Sami culture.
She is truely fantastic!!!!!! You should try her performance: "Falling Free" ( LINK: th-cam.com/video/KNPIdGBn7M4/w-d-xo.html ) Simply love that one!!!!
As someone else has recommended Eivor Falling Free
You need to listen to everything she does. Like Floor Jansen AMAZING!!!!!!!

The outdoor setting reminded me of a Wardruna + Aurora + Oslo Fagottkor performance of Helvegen:-

Seems similar because I believe it is. This is filmed for Norwegian TV, so I expect it will be in Norway!

Hello, can you please react to SB19's lyric video of their song MAPA? I would love to hear your thoughts on the song. 💙
Love the Faroese (and Icelandic) name convention of differentiating between sexes regarding surnames. Eivør is the daughter of Pál (Pálsdóttir). If it was a son it would be Pálsson. Norway, Denmark and Sweden has lost this..
Don't worry about pronunciation dude. I watched an American guy doing thsi reaction wh osaid the Faroe Islands where a "brand new country". 🙄😂
I just wish, that she did not have to make that amazing performance infront of so many NPCs
