"The Vauxhall Insignia is styled to look more like a coupe than a family car, but it can't match the Ford Mondeo for driver fun."
Ive had a 1.8 petrol for 5 years done 50k miles taking it up to 85k and apart from tyres and brakes i have just had to replace water pump and thermostat sensor. A very reliable car.
I just bought one and your comment is a bit of a relief. Ive had a few problems on mine. Ive talen it back twice. Had a new oil pump fittes due to low oil pressure. Few codes have popped up n had plugged in. Can also see underneath that it has had a previous water leak as dry coolant can be seen underneath..not leaking water now so must have been done but the water pump is common on them. Its a lovely car and stylish. And it shifts too!
I disagree with Rebeccas opening remarks, that "the Insignia has never been the most exiting car on the market". Actually I think, it has been one of the best looking cars in its class, since it was released. Not as spacious as a Skoda Superb, not as well handling as a BMW 3-series and not as cheap to run as a Toyota Avensis. But a car, that you bought exactly for style and luxury. A bit like an Audi A4.
you need to see your optician P.R.O.N.T.O.
z00h You are allowed to have a different opinion, but I will stick to mine. The Insignia was a big success on its realease, and the majority of Insignias have been sold with big alloy wheels and a high level of equipment. Which to me confirm, that I am right about its place in the market. The new petrol and diesel engines are among the best in the market. So all that Opel (and GM) need to do now, is to get rid of the excess weight. And that will hopefully happen in the next generation of Insignia and Astra.
Cars designed by committees are like gray suits/uniforms. They can be stylish and luxurious; but forever bland and impersonal.
Arthur TheSemiDutch
You can say the exact same thing about Audis or BMWs then. Vauxhalls aren't bland because they sell in big numbers, they're not impersonal because the brand and the griffin mean something to the majority of British motorists.
00kirbyd Yes, you could say the same about most German car makers; of which Vauxhall (Opel) is part of. That you have a soft spot for Vauxhall is down to good marketing on their part. They are impersonal cars for the masses/sheeple; like gray suits and Katie Perry music.
:-p
Finally an Opel Insignia review.
Bought it recently, It's perfect
How
How was your experience now ??
Passning the industry standard lip gloss test is key to market share. Millions of R&D money well spent.
I reckon Matt does better review because his height is the same as me so when gets in the back its alittle more accurate
Rebecca is absolute joy!
yup, wish she was included when I bought my 2016 insignia 😂
"75 mpg". That'll be 45 to 50 then.
Have to reduce by proportion, which seems to be about one third in view of manufacturers' gross exaggerations. No way can a car of the mass of an Insignia do 70 mpg in normal, even careful, driving, even with a diesel.
CottferLAD22 of course. the one could follow real-world tests on many car sites. those who 'know people who know people' are in dilussion. most of people relies too much on trip comp and doesn't know how to calculate exactly. for example: www.whatcar.com/car-news/real-world-mpg-economical-family-cars/1223365 - the best result is 66. these cars are a class smaller than insignia.

do you know spritmonitor.de?
4|5|6|7 l/100km = 71|56|47|50 mpguk
Hate to break it to ya lads but I have one and done 77.6 miles per gallon I've got photographic proof but can't post it
@@Edvard.Munchkin That's a lot of mpg
For those asking vauxhall offer the insignia in a 4 door saloon version which is very similar to this one but with a different boot and also as a sports tourer which is an estate
plenty of space for Rebecca and Me in the back
I bought a 2015 SRI 2.0 diesel 138 bhp. Excellent car
Looking at these now. You would recommend then?
@@Nathan-tp5fc yep. I’ve since got another car but t my insignia was faultless when I had it
@@ShanesAutos thanks Shane appreciate it.
They're not bad cars. I've only ever had one as a company driver but the firm I'm now alternative assets sales manager for have given me a Mercedes C Class diesel and I must say it's fantastic.
Oh also, Rebecca really does do some superb reviews, really detailed and well laid out. Plus let's be honest, she is extremely easy on the eye, what an absolute stunner.
Opel did this car good! :D
She says that there is plenty of headroom in the back, but I have to disagree. She's not exactly the tallest of people yet her head would be hitting the roof if she wanted to rest it against the headrest. Vauxhall have made a HUGE design flaw here in trying to make the car aesthetic and aerodynamic they have compromised comfort in the back seat. That is unless you're the individual who enjoys awkwardly contorting his or her spine for the duration of a car journey.
Absolutely correct the headroom in the back was so limited in many cities they could not be registered as Taxis thus killing one of the cars largest potential markets.
Nice car, but I was generally impressed by Rebecca's bottom.
God damn same
Pervert
Simps
Really good family car, and the boot is massive!!! I have one.
You still got it?
I think the boot is just perfect
That gap though...
i was gona comment too
Was this shot in the summer? That's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too sunny for england haha
i can't trust you guy no more .
the other guy from the same car review team , totally disagreed with every things she said
complaining about not responsive steering , no head room ,..
which one of you guys writes these reviews ?
Siamak she is!
Thinking about this car in top of range 160 bhp or Skoda Superb 140 bhp or mazda 6 ?? O what to do ?
Rented a top model of this car (diesel and auto gearbox) and drove for more than 600miles in a week. Good engine, equipment and dash, but poor rear visibility and odd-shaped side mirror that led to some misjudgment of distance (much worse than conventional square mirrors), easy to drive although not fun, some interior material feels cheap, huge boot but back seat uncomfortable, new facelift not bad to look at but rear indicating light seemed not bright enough
ive the new 1.6ecoflex diesel its quieter than the passat 1,6tdi i traded in and is heaps quicker! am really pleased with my new insignia sri
my older brother had the 1.6 diesel which I drove a few times, it didnt have the 'get up and go' I was expecting tbh. I have the 2.0 diesel with 168bhp, it pulls acceptenially well and still average 69mpg on the motorway
How about cornering stability compared to Passat? Which is better?
Awesome car and review
1:17 Manual rear windows are available...
Great review.
"plenty of headroom" saying it with a head in the roof...
Someone mistook my Jaguar XF for the insignia, sad times
i still don't get why vauxhall has a different name than in germany
bit late responding to this but basically Opel bought Vauxhaull and because they were a well known name in the UK they kept the name because people were familiar with it
@@danielmullins9953 and here in the UK, people are actually proud to say vauxhall is a true British brand and their cars are the best. Lol
@@comedyman112 Yeah but people will also buy it if its badged as an Opel cause its German and people like German cars
When will there be a review of the new hyundai i10
hello! why in the U.K. the OPEL brand has the VAUXHAL name..brand?
Because Vauxhall is a British nameplate and have been building car with Opel in continental Europe and the UK since the company began. They have always been apart of GM. Vauxhall has a lot to do with Opel and GM, they design a lot of cars over here and they build a couple (astra for example).
Is the Vauxhall insignia Sri Vx-line nav 2.0 diesel manual 2016 (66) in red any good for driving quite harsh and good on long motorway journeys, like around 200 miles?
Did you get one? These 2.0 like to be driven on long drives but dislike short run arounds.
1:18 - Dishonest review. Contradict their own video - lack of headroom in the other video by the guy.
Amazing car
Good review
Where is the banana? :O
Is the jackal on gta based on this car
I have a petrol insignia 1.8 2014 model and its great to a point and one i need to take up with the garage as its still under warranty and that is it loses power on hills/ inclines . i know its all about the gear selection but still not good on motorways.
I genuinely like this car and hopefully its just a glitch that can be sorted .
loved the review and i really like that car, in black or white
I love there’s cars I just got last week I love it 2013 model
This is great? Does the price include the shiny door handles?
Yep all models come with chrome door handles
where is the Banana??
Buick regal hatchback please. Nice car
I know ***** . I'm in the states. This is the regal here. I'm saying I'll like a regal hatch. Chill
This video is from the UK where the Opel/ Vauxhall Insignia is the Buick Regal. Plus Buick does not offer the Regal in North America is a hatch back.
Duh
buick bought licence from opel for this car like some manufacturers bought previews vectra models. on top of my mind saab had vectra and still has insignia licence
GodricThe Buick ( And Opel, and Vauxhall ) is a part of GM, they didn't buy anything from Opel. SAAB was also a part of GM, they did use the Vectra plattform for the 9-3 and the Insignia plattform for the latest 9-5, but because they're not a part of GM anymore, they can't use them now.
Forget the car she is FIT
in turkey it's selling at opel
just like everywhere in Europe except UK, where Vauxhall is selling GM cars.
Also rear center headrest , Opel/Vauxhall do a good job LOL
I miss the banana but, like your belt buckle.
Make a review about the new Volvo v60, v70, xc60 please!?
Nice car and in fact a perfect car for guys who actually carry handcream with them.
Such a shame Opel failed in Australia. High price was an issue, and goofy German advertising campaign didn't help either.
GM will never admit this, but it seems obvious to my contact who works in the motor trade down under, that Opel was forced out by Holden, because they didn't want them lowering their prices to match theirs - and being a direct competitor.
There's no way they could've failed if they'd only been in the country for 12 months. My contact tells me that Peugeot and Volkswagen have dropped their prices signifcantly recently, in an effort to drive sales. Holden to be honest should be rebranded Opel (although i'd prefer Vauxhall of course), as all they seem to do is rebadge either Suzukis, Chevrolets or Opels.
***** Such an emotional statement. I applaud you for keeping it real.
***** Pot kettle Vauxhall
I love vauxhall
Looking Good in Those Jeans
I've had one of these cars as a courtesy car whist mine is being fixed, and whilst I've really enjoyed the drive (because it's a newer car than mine, 2017, versus a 2002 Honda), I've had a *lot* of oncoming cars flashing me when driving at night. The main-beam is obviously a problem.......
Never mind you being able to fit your lipstick in there, what on earth does, "the engine is still a bit clattery around town" mean?
+Steven Jones At low revs and during urban driving, the Insignia's engine has a slightly tractor-like quality. This is in contrast to cars with slightly quieter engines and better-insulated cabins.
thanks for your reply :-)
+Steven Jones All well and good, but they really do 75+ mpg? My old Volvo sounds quieter than these diesels.
I assume the petrol engine is just fine though?
Looks like the previous generation Mazda 6
How much is a kiss ?.
It is based on the Buick Regal
this look better Opel Insignia rij impressie ( road test ) 2013/2014
Those were not all the storage spaces !!!
Vauxhall is Opel!!!
explain to me
why is there the same car
that looks the same even the model name is the same
except for the logo
which one is original between vauxhall and opel?
allways wondered
Opel is the original, Vauxhall is just a UK brand.
Main problem of insignia is- it is to heavy.. ! it is quality car and it look's great..
My father owns one opel (vauxhall) insignia. It's a (very) quality car but he has not faced any problem with its weight .He got used to it in 1 month.I even sais that it is a great alternative to the mercedes c class.
The only real problem is the head space for the back passengers
Same problem with the 2013-present Ford Taurus SHO but its a quick ride doing 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds. It has a 365bhp 3.5L V6 Ecoboost Twin Turbo and Awd.
The Vauxhall Insignia is quite a nice looking car.
I love the look of this car. Can you buy this with electric windows too?
Like all cars in its class, all have electric windows and locks, most likely.
Ok, thanks
emjayay pretty sure of the high sarcasm level there
Jamie Cannon Why would there be? He stated the truth. Electric windows are a standard in such class.
SHAD3R775 obviously you didn't understand my reply. Of course there is electric windows lol.
wind up windows in the back, Huuuuuuuue !!!
01:17
i have this one, the opel version, i lvoe it :)
Electric rear windows should be a standard for that class of cars!
I wouldn't mind a spin in that and I don't mean the car? Very very nice
Nice car
to be honest ... when she mentioned da touchpad in 2:11 i dint look at da touchpad, i looked at her hands hehe
.
rebecca u r awesome ;) :D
Why didn't the Buick Regal get this hatchback??????
It’s a saloon car not a hatchback.
I'll have a Toyota Avensis instead thanks :)
That has a cheaper interior though, and the spec levels are not as good :)
But the reliability is very good and off course being a toyota, build quality is excellent
Well, they are worse on many other brands...
@@andylie7699 Toyota reliability blah blah blah. You don't need a car which is really really reliable you need a car that is reliable and more premium feeling for the same price.
this is a nice car, together with the Kia Optima GT.
Tissues and hand cream ?! Dangerous combination
I'd take both, the car and the girl.
i hate vauxhall, just came for rebecca LOL
good, vauxhall hates you
I like Vauxhall's, they're cheaper than the Ford Focus
Nice dash design, good running costs. Not sure about that touchpad would find that fiddly on the move. With my own money I'd look at Mazda 6.
The one owner warranty is a sticking point for me it kills resale value for vauxhalls. I was looking at nearly new astras and they were like 7k that's mental!
Head room for rear seats aren't good at all.
It doesn't look bad, but its opel...
These are good cars
1:30 anyone else hear the horrible rattle when she closes the door?
+batchnerd A bit like the Vectra A. I know all too well as I had one when I was a taxi driver. My mother had a mk3 Astra which sounded the same although the engine was bullet proof. The mk4 Astra was an improvement in terms of the door shut.
+batchnerd What about when she closes her legs?
That was caused by the water bottle in the door bin, as she showed a few seconds later.
01:20 It would be more realistic if you use a man for test the headroom :(
rear looks like a camry
Bet a lot of Car Dealers would love to get behind this kind of advertising online
oh look its a Buick Regal
Yep General motors get about, Opel in Europe and in the UK there branded as Vauxhall
Sure, owned by GM, but designed and built in europe. The Opel Insignia for example, just like the Corsa and Adam is built in Rüsselsheim, Germany. Some Astra models are built in poland, don't even compare this to the american production.
Great car. But they must be so sick of this boring, repetitive presenting style. Yes the facts are clearly presented, but it's like stocking shelves at a supermarket - you don't want to do it forever.
Hand cream, very slippery when trying to steer!
Still can't get anywhere near the predicted figures in my 1.6 diesel only 50 is the max I've achieved
Has anyone else got one of these recently and have any problems I know these are meant to be bad cars
Where do they learn to speak with this bizarre cadence and intonation?
notformebeaky my nan drives a corsa . how dare you judge people. And vauxhalls are simply amazing.
Yeah: London -> Budapest!
The transmission is terrible my mum had hers new until around 6,000 miles when the gearbox bearings started whining
That looks like a Buick regal!
better said, the Buick Regal is a rebranded Opel/Vauxhall Insignia... at least the new one.
Nah looks like a Holden commodore 😂
Quit the sexist comments. Focus brothers. Focus. On the car
The banana is in a special place.
Wen it was new it looked refreshing, now it looks dated...
Not my choise!
Since when has the Insignia been a hatchback?! It's a saloon
it's a 5 door and the rear door is a hatch hence hatchback. 4 door would be a sallon
z00h what are you talking about? A hatchback means the boot lid has to be vertical if i'm right in thinking (e.g. a gold, focus, astra etc.)
***** does not have to be vertical. In fact, if you want to get technical, none of them are actually mathematically vertical to the ground. Hatchback is simply anything with a full door in the rear, generally involving the window or a split window/tailgate.
Christopher Rennehan I still think calling this a hatchback is like saying a Maybach is a supermini
.......then clearly you're a lost cause. Sorry.
I'm about to buy an insignia.......I fucking hate my life
Sweet cos Iv just brought one
