Your correct 👏 I mispoke meaning that you dont need to do mod with larger module I meant to say you dont need to download the lua scripts for the larger module. Easy peasy. Got mine all hooked up and my rx’s came in yesterday wooo. Warming up the soldering iron now to install them in my quads. Can’t wait to rip on crsf.
I just finished the mod and have a few tips to make it easier. 1st use a very fine tip on the soldering iron and also very fine 60-40 lead solder. When you flip the board up to access the transistor pin, use blue painters tape to hold the board in place, next use very fine Silicon wire (28-30ga ), it is very flexible and easier to work with. There is very little current flowing through the wire, so no need for heavy wire.
What was the exact place you got the radio, I got the same one off Amazon and it came with a completely different electronic board and I have to return it

You can still use your internal module, just make your crossfire models separate and when you choose your old models the settings will be set to internal you dont even have to remove the crossfire module as it wont be powered on because internal module will be selected.
Yo brother..question for ya. Im getting this crossfire monday for my qx7. All my quads have xm frsky receivers in them. After you remove the q400 chip from the backplate..will the xm receivers still work? Or do i need to change all my quads over to crossfire? I have 7 builds and only want to install cf on a couple. Just wanna make sure my xm receivers will still work after removing that tiny chip from the qx7. Thanks in advance man. Anxious to hear from ya. ✌✌✌
You can still use all of your other non crossfire receivers just make sure you have the external module turned off and the internal module turned on for those models

You can however I would suggest upgrading the battery to a lipo instead of the double aa batteries they won't last long with the crossfire running at 1 watt.
After replacing pulling out the transistor and adding the part will this radio still work with the regular d8 d16 or will it only work with rapid fire thanks

Question, I just did this modification and when I go to crossfire.lua I press execute and it just says “ waiting for crossfire” and it doesn’t connect. I was able to bind crossfire module to receive but the issue is between the transmitter and module. Any suggestions?
Double check your soldering connections on the board is where I would start then if correctly soldered with no bridges you may need to update firmware on the radio

Did you have to update the firmware on the radio? Looks like you have the same 2.2.0 version that I have on mine. My USB port is broken so I don’t think I can update it, but if yours is working I guess it’s not an issue?

@@haks_123 no problem happy to help. Yeah the mod is only for adjusting the baud rate on the radio for the ACCST version to lower the latency for crossfire. The ACCESS version is able to do the correct baud rate without any modification.

Unfortunately there was a error in the original edit that was not caught till after the upload the information that was cut out was not of great importance just talking about removing all the screws from the back of the radio and making sure that you don't loose the screws as they are kind of smaller.
Question: I managed to accidentally remove the resistor directly adjacent to the Q400 labelled R406...where can i find a replacement lamo. Also thanks for the super useful vid man keep it up

Good lord that's too tiny, I could never do that precise soldering. That surface mounted crap is a no-go for me. Good thing you can at least get the full version and avoid it. How bad are the gimbals on this TX, I've heard the ball bearing ones aren't the greatest. Also, does the cramped screen get annoying in practice or does it not matter. I liked that the backlight goes out and it's low power old school LSD. I'm waiting on the TX-16s, but that's taking a while, suppose to be out this month sometime, and someone's offered me one of these old Qx7's dirt cheap. I like the look of the Duplex DS-12 with the screen at the top the best, but that costs an arm and a leg.
The gimbals feel fine I had to remove the notchiness on the throttle for me personally The screen is actually plenty big enough to see to change your settings
mate...my x7...after practising on a sim and went out of battery it wont power up again now...when pressing button the speaker only makes a noise ...also with the usb cable pc dont recognize it anymore to reflash or anything..this had happened one more time in the past but after leave it on the usb cable it came back to power on ....i already tried many different batteries and left it on the usb many hours but nothing this time...i checked and there is nothing toasted or something...is there anything you may know for this?
You probably have to change from sim mode to data which firmware are you using? The newest will ask you wheb you plug in usb if you want to use the port for sim or data choose data

@@lfrecords3970 try pushing in on the trim tabs and power on at the same time before you plug in usb thats bootloader mode then see if you can get it to recognize your usb

well I guess I did something very wrong. Burnt the whole trace off the back in step 1. I'm so mad.... Beginners should NOT try this unless you're very very competent at soldering.
@@edrone_ I used the point on a hakko 2.4mm chisel tip. I did want to say however, that I watched another tutorial and scraped away the trace, and was able to solder to the trace further down the line. I finished with the rest of the tutorial and everything turned on and seems to work just fine
@@Bigbeardfpv im glad you were able to get it working again. I opted to use the cutters to remove the transistor versus the soldering iron to play it safer for any slips that I may have had that could have damaged the board.
This may be accurate. I’m going to pass on this. Missing a couple screws as part of the tear down is a simple over site. If you’re going to miss that what about something critical?

Nevermind, allready found out. On the hardware page in radio settings the baud rate was allready on 400000 after the mod (y)

After you do the soldering inside will your Taranis qx7 will other modules still work in the bay or does it lock your bay to the crossfire module
Your qx7 internal module will still work and you can use any external module

Crossfire will work without the mod for the qx7 but the latency will be greater between the module and the transmitter

Because the baud rate is sufficient on the x9d And the baud rate on the QX7 is too low without the mod for telemetry

Multi protocol module will work after this modification the mod is only changing the baud rate internally to reduce latency

How close is the radio to the receiver
when i plug in lipo i get telemetry recover. when i walk away a few feet i get telelemetry lost im like 10 ft away

It will work but you won't get the benefit of the lower latency meaning it will perform just like frsky pretty much.
Hello, you insisted that you have to solder the 3 volts in that specific part, why,?, there are other easier parts like in the trims.
The mod was done the way TBS recommends on the website.

You should not tell people to just pull of the IC off the q400, that damages the board. Heat should be applied and it should be removed gently.
If you do it carefully it will not damage the board which im sure i said😉

Mod is not needed for using the r9m module from frsky only if using a crossfire micro module
