I'm glad I don't have any toxic houseplants in my apartment. As for garlic and onion, I'll know to keep them away from my cat Tiger-J.
I'm able to keep onions and garlic from my cat Ruby. When she tries to lick the bowl after I've finished my spaghetti sauce, I tell her "not for kitties" and she understands.

I noticed that the spider plant, another common houseplant, isn't on the list. Apparently while it's not considered outright toxic to cats, it can still cause discomfort if ingested. It never seemed to cause problems for the house cats I had growing up, but if there's any doubt you can always use a hanging planter to keep it put of reach (and many people hang this plant anyway).
Thank you for this information! I've had cats all my life (I'm 69 years old) and have been fortunate enough to have not had any problems with plants and cats so far. I was thinking of getting some new plants, but this list made me think otherwise. You may have saved my cats from death or horrible problems. Thank you!!!💕

Also, we finally got our female(Bella) spayed. She has mostly reverted to her former sweet self prior to us taking in our younger male (Romeo). I really appreciate the insight from other viewers about whether the procedure would help. Had it not we would have to rehome her which we’re very happy is no longer necessary. 🙏🏻💖🥰

I was surprised by Aloe! Thought, it was harmless for everyone. Thankfully, i don't have it. And i was surprised that some flowers are related to onion 😅

mistletoe, which may be popular in homes around the holidays, is very toxic to pets! so if anyone hangs mistletoe, be sure to throw it away after use, before it has the chance to fall down onto the ground where curious pets may play with it

Thank God my Monstera plant was harmless to my cat (it's plastic 😉).
Between my house and my yard I have had at least as many cats as there are forbidden plants on this list. I have never had a problem.

Plants really do not want to be eaten

Why not just have no plants at all if you want a cat? 🤔
Because there are cat-safe plants out there. So if you love both plants and cats, it's possible to have both. In the future we will do a non-toxic plants list. 🐈
