What is BHT (Butylated Hydroxytoluene)? How is it Made? How's It Used? and Is It Safe?

BHT is probably one of.....if not the most utilized antioxidant in the world. Butylated Hydroxytoluene is used in everything from cereals, to makeup and even medicines (vaccines included). BHT is usually used in the fat (or fatty) portion of the product formulation. It helps prevent rancidity, color change (all the hallmarks of oxidation).

Hi how do you dissolve this for a lotion formula I tried water it did not dissolve and I tried glycerin it acting weird please help me dissolve this bht

Hey @china2727, bht is actually fat-soluble, sorry if I failed to mention this in the video. You usually want to add it to the oil/fat potion of a lotion formula and heat it to 70 celsius.
