Fantastic set, wicked buildup as it goes on! Fantastic musicianship from everyone- it was particularly nice to see such a solid bodhran player! Great dynamics from the guitarist too... Top tunes all round :D
Lovely playing and great tunes. It's noticeable how they let the tunes 'breathe'. It's party because they play at a pace where you can hear the shape of the tune but also they are discreet with the ornamentation they add. None of it hides the flow of the jigs, and even when they speed up they are doing it together and never to the point where you can't hear the shape of each jig. Respect!
This wonderful playing of our traditional Irish music always lifts my heart. There are no medicine or pills needed when Martin and his comrades play. Thank you for many hours of enjoyment! X
The music is good for sure but the foot stamping ? Is there really a need for it to be so dominant ?, it's practically overpowering the melody. The music is good enough to stand up on it's own.
Some groove
Goosebumps everytime I listen to this… this is what irish music is about, the combination the beat and the flow… love it its perfect! 👍🏻💚✨
Me, what I like is the pace. Music doesn't have to be played at Ferrari speed.
What a great set and played with such feeling! I loved the steady yet driving pace!

Respect for that super articulate summary.
No frantic panic.
No ludicrous " first to the finish line wins" mentality.
Genius in those simple tunes...wonderful!
nothin simple about them
Thanks for this post!!!
These guys make me want to dance
Espectacular.
I remember seeing John Naughton going to set dancing in Dublin.

Any idea what make his whistle is? it sorta looks like the dixon with brass slider. His tone is lovely.
Believe it is made by the late Mike Grinter.
great Bodhran player
Jim Higgins
I would love to play this set, but I can't get the name of 2nd and 3rd tune. Would someone help me, thanks from japan。

Ships in Full Sail - the Rakes of Clonmel - the Yellow wattle
Wie heißt der erste Jig? What ist the name of the First tune?
Ships in full sail. Anyone understand the name of the second?
The Rakes of Clonmel
The two boys are like Paul Simon and Chevy Chase.

Looks like a Lowden on the left
Similar, it's actually a small-body McIlroy!
No name mentioned for the guitar and bodhran players
Conal O'Kane and Jimmy Higgins, respectively!
Thanks
I love irish music
