I lived in Dublin from '75 to '79 when all this was happening, best years of my life. What a great band...but wouldn't have been quite as great without Alec's amazing bouzouki accompaniment.
I met them in California, lovely people! This band so impressed me!! I had a chance to live in Ireland for a couple years, I was so excited to go to the land of this fantastic music! Well, I never left, and have lived here now for 30 years. Love Ireland, love the music and art! Love De Dannan!
Same since the 90s, during the Conflict then finally moved in 2016! Still here from Vancouver BC Canada 🇨🇦🍁🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪☘️☘️☘️☘️💃🏻hope your enjoying still!!!
in the seisun I like to just back on bouzouki or guitar but every once and awhile if I get a chance on the banjo ive got a set that I end with the flowers of red hill always gets some heads turning
Johnny Moynihan, the man who introduced the bouzouki into irish folk music, can't really get it going here. Finally he gives in and retreats to the bodhran.
I love Irish Folk Music and story of ireland people. Best regards from Chile...
Never tire of that era, parful, Belfast

RIP Alec. Greatly Missed.
I heard them play one lovely afternoon in 1978, one of the best days of my life.
So I did as well On a bike tour and saw them in Galway then Ballyshannon
❤
De Danann De Danann from the mid-seventies. That’s as good as it gets.
Such great musicians. Love De Danann. Great set of tunes. Love the unique Framus banjo sound, best around in its day. Thanks for uploading.
Must have watched this a thousand times❤

Just terrific
In this beautiful set Frankie Gavin really reveals itself as the Prince of the Irish fiddlers
Absolutely Brilliant.
This music is such high quality it has stood the test of time. A sentiment to the great musicians doing what they love. Mighty alltogether.

Philip King played track from Mist Covered Mountain last sunday night, I resolved to tune in here to lissin in - what music!

Best set ever.
GREAT balance between the instruments.
Beautiful balance of strings. The best!
Brilliant, so proud of my Irish ancestry
I love them
I wish to thank you for sharing this awesome Irish music video with me .
Would be great to see this De Danann back playing again. There's no band out there at the minute playing this kind of music. Great stuff.
Quite impossible. The tensions between Frankie and Alec are too high.
Actually, bands playing at that level exist, of course. For instance :

The Banjo, I guess ... Yes and very popular in Ireland.
The first tune sounds like "Cunla", a well known old Irish tune.
Is that a Framus banjo?
Yes, I believe it is.
Jacopo Ferrara yes
Johnny Moynihan, the man who introduced the bouzouki into irish folk music, can't really get it going here. Finally he gives in and retreats to the bodhran.
Tuning problems, apparently ...
The 2 bodhran sound on the final tune is actually awesome and drives like hell.🙂
Whats the first tune
Tom Billy's jig
Now we're sucking diesel.
Listen to this and wake up all you young irishmen. Does not this sound a lot nicer, before Gerry Connor-influnce and strange chording?
