That Fiddle player is Martin Hayes, and he's one of Irelands greatest musicians! And unless you have half the skill he has you're definitely not in a position to criticise..

When irish music is performed at a high level like this it is a match for any of the other great musical forms such as latin roots jazz and classical, thanks for the positive energy guys
Kevin is unbelievable, bit I'm a guitar player and looking at John Doyle , he's unreal , his rythm and his little voicing chords to the melody are sublime

@@totheknee Yes! We Romanians also have Celtic heritage! Celts lived in many regions of Romania. For example "Galati" town and county name in Romania comes from the Gals (Celts) that lived there. In "Transilvania" or "Maramureș" areas we also had many Celts who left beautiful traces in our culture, for example in the traditional Romanian Tartan textile motifs of alternative black and white squares with lines, very similar to the Scottish ones, or in our traditional music, the whistle playing tradition, we have many very old Celtic crosses throughout Romana! In "Apuseni" mountains lived many Celts as well, and this can also be seen in the fact that men in that area had long braided hair and still "diddle" songs like the Irish to this day! Search for "The Revolt of Horea, Closca and Crisan 1784" for example and you can see from their pictures that they had a Celtic hairstyle. These are only a few examples. There are many more! Just like one has 4 grandparents, the Romanian people have 4 ancestors: the Romans, the Thracian-Illyrians, the Celts, and the Scythians. Regarding the folk music in Romania, here is a video example of a Romanian traditional "Diddle" song from Apuseni mountains area where many Celts lived. The Irish also have this very old tradition of "Diddle" songs! There are not many places on Earth people traditionally "DIDDLE" songs. Romania and Ireland are two of them! Celts also lived in the Alps before being Germanized. The Irish don't listen to music with their ears. They listen with their entire bodies. We could all learn a few things from that.
