    I lived alone in a studio when I was single. If I heard a noise in the middle of the night, it was easy to look around one room and see that it was nothing and go right back to bed! 🤷‍♀️

      I just block my bedrooms, and have traps , and things to protect myself. You cannot trust roommates, and as an adult, you need your own space.

    I live in a studio! To be honest I can't even imagine living in something bigger ever again haha I like that it forces you to own less things, and not to mention it's a breeze to clean. I'm lucky enough to have a pretty sizable backyard space secluded from neighbours, so it sort of extends my living/eating space outside when the weather is nice. Loving your videos!

      Couldn't agree more! Plus outdoor space?? SO good!! If I do end up upgrading to a 1 bdr eventually, it'll likely be a tiny one haha

      Wow that's amazing! I really want a 1 bdrm bc I work from home and have to keep privacy when working, so I really need that division. Other than that, I highly agree.

    I just moved into my first-ever apartment (that's a studio) after living with roommates for nearly 6 years. Honestly, I really love it. I used to say I was biding my time to make more money and move into a one-bedroom apartment, but this feels right for me. The peace and quiet are unmatched!

      It's honestly so great!! Studios are just extremely cozy and warm-feeling.

    I live in a pretty small apartment now and I'm going to be moving to a studio and yes I am a big extrovert so I would get lonely but thankfully my dad and stepmom will be a couple floors up so that will be nice

    I'm so with you on these things--- No matter how small I'd rather it be mine for both decor and privacy comforts. I also had to go from an alcove studio to a regular studio but we make it work because we're creative. Your decorating skill is on point. Has Apartment Therapy featured you yet? They should---everywhere you go you turn it to gold!

      Absolutely! Thank you so much for your sweet words! Apartment therapy featured my home on their instagram when I first moved in so it looked pretty bland at the time. I'm hoping to submit for their small apartment contest 😊

    My husband and I currently live in a studio apartment. We use to live in a one bedroom apt but it became too expensive for that time so we moved back to my in laws and then moved to a studio apartment. The biggest Pro is having furniture that is multifunctional, having a walk in closet, a patio and I am a block away from the beach and everything else is close by. The biggest Con is parking, and how cold it can be during the winter. My husband and I are saving for a house, we talked about moving to a one bedroom again, but we realize that we didn't want to start another contract and the studio apartment we currently live in has everything we need and we are happy with that.

      Yesss! Sounds like a good deal :) It's nice to hear that studios can work for couples as well.

    I had a studio. But I felt trapped. Just like one big box and a balcony window. Felt like a fishbowl. Everyone across from me could see me in all my display. I left and found a one bedroom for cheaper. I like having a one bedroom. I have a place I can read 📚 quietly or listen to my radio. I have windows and without those crazy vertical blinds.. In a studio, I had no sense of privacy.
    One positive thing about living in a studio, is it taught me to downsize. Got rid of so many things I didn't need. My one bedroom is sparse, but I am happy. 😊

    Facts! I was torn between a studio and a 1br. They had a special running and I got the 1br, but it the rent goes up too much I'll be looking for a studio on my next lease. Awesome video!

      @kirsten-ashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Glad you were able to get the 1br due to the special. I'm sure you'll love studio living too if you end up having to downsize!

    I’m all for living in a studio. I’m coming from a living environment where I was always around several family members in a small house and I craved my own mental/personal space. I would rather have my own space, peace and quiet, rather than live with a roommate or shell out more of my monthly income.

    Growing up and I was little my father and my grandmother lived in a big Studio apartment in Astoria. It had room for the dining area in the kitchen and the bathroom had room for draws and a closet as well for clothes.

    Lived in a studio for 3 years and loved it. Decided to buy and bought a 2/2 now I have stuff all over. Wish I had stuck with the studio. Thinking of selling and getting a 1/1.5 or another studio. I will be getting rid of stuff.

    This is exactly why I’ve been in my studio for a few years. I love my studio and because I’ve been here a while, I pay less than I would for any other unit. A one bedroom would be pushing the top of my budget.

    I haver never lived in a onee room apartment, but I know I couldn't live in one due to the space restriction. The fact that no matter where I go in my space I am always in the same room would drive me bonkers! You make your place look gorgeous though! Thank you for helping me with decorating tips for my 2-bedroom townhouse; I have just downsized from a 4-bedroom townhouse. I cannot believe how much stuff I had accumulated there that I really didn't need at all! I love your videos and I adore your very sweet personality.

    Yep I sort of live in my room as a studio apartment. I needed to get space between my family who don’t really
    Like some things I enjoy and like,
    I still don’t have a mini fridge and a microwave or mini oven because my mom won’t let me use the mini oven
    That they don’t use. I don’t even have a tv tho.

      A couple of people have mentioned it but I had already purchased my current bed not too long before I moved to my smaller space so I really wanted to keep it. Hopefully it'll stay with me in future apartments as well!

    Are you cautious of clothing and furniture smelling when cooking? Im thinking of moving into a studio but I love to cook and feel like that could be annoying.

    • @kirsten-ashley
      @kirsten-ashley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That was also a concern of mine! I just always make sure my closet doors are closed and that I keep the vent fan on while i'm cooking. I don't ever smell food on my sheets or furniture, though I do wash my towels often because they tend to cling onto food smells more than anything else.

      I would suggest finding a layout that allows the kitchen to be as far away from the bedroom/clothes as possible. Mine has a dividing wall with an opening between living room and bedroom. The kitchen is opened off
      of the living room area. Mine is an L shape with a bathroom and walk in closet.
