Thank you so much for the walk through of STARTING issues. On my 1978 Dynahoe 190 myself did Two STARTING systems. The standard then I wired directly to the STATER ( unsafe ) as backhoe can start in gear. But I was having NO start issues. Be it I am the only one ever STARTING my baby Dynahoe, I can live with the always make sure it's in Neutral. Shuttle in center position. The direct to starter gives me START every time. I do have the two start buttons on the dash. I just use the Direct system after I have gone through the shuttle test, and make sure she is OUT of gear. I only recommend this direct starter, for only OWNER who only operates machines and NEVER someone else.
I watched this video today cause my dozer was doing something similar and as soon as you said neutral safety switch I knew what was going on. The lever had been bumped just a little so it looked like it was up but not enough to press it in! Lol thank you for the help good sir! Can't believe I spent that much time on it when that's all it was the whole time. Just goes to show the little things make all the difference!
Thanks for the video, I have a Kubota with about 5 million safety switches, that won't start. Your instructions are great and it gives me a place to start.
My neighbors Kubota recently had a neutral safety switch go bad, so it wouldn't start. I brought over a paper clip and we bypassed each safety switch one by one until we found it. Good luck!
@@FarmDad just went through my safety switches and found that none of them had power so I went and checked my fuses for continuity and found a bad 5 amp fuse. I replaced it and everything works. My kubota guy (after replacing the battery) wanted to order a new electrical harness as kubota only sells them complete. You saved me $2500 plus labor!
I watched your video and then returned to the shop where my Case IH 255 with cab and loader waited. Turns out a bush-hogging session had separated two wires from the neutral switch. As soon as I wiggled them back in, it started right up. Thanks for the information.
I have 1995 310 john Deere backhoe . I went from forward to reverse and it wouldn't move. So turned it off to restart it but it won't restart. Battery is fully charged and no broken wires. It will start with a screw driver jumping it right at the starter, but 9t won't move forward or backwards. What could be the problem?
Nice work Dad, the only thing worse than crush crimps are those fold over wire taps... well worth a soldered barrel and some shrink tube ! Best of days to you and crew !
Hi farm Dad, what year is your backhoe? I have a 1976 310.. just bought a 1976 310, Imma use your videos to get to know about it.. thanks for posting!!
Really hard for me to say from here. I have bought new solenoids and starters though in recent years that were faulty right out of the box. It may be worth bench testing it.
No idea why people are saying "dad". But dad I have a 710D 1995 that every time I try to turn the switch the stop button flashes. Can't hear it even trying to turn. I will try this tomorrow

@@jawico and that's why I'm such an advocate of doing things yourself! Glad you got it fixed!

Glad you are all fixed up.
I found this incredibly helpful. I’m troubleshooting my D5 Cat dozer, it has a similar issue. Once it starts it’s fine though.
@@peybackendeavors thanks! Hope you get it sorted soon!

I think it's a 1980, but I'm not 100% sure. Good luck with your new machine. 🤙
I bought a new set of keys and a button to push. Will you show me how to wire? I do not know which wire goes into which behind the turn key. Thanks
Send me an email at modernhemingway@gmail.com. I may be able to email you a diagram or something.
Good job dad!
Thank you!
