Ever see a HPOP shaft seal push out and cause filter drain back, long crank in AM (Start Stall), and be fine all day after the initial cold start,.. I did, mostly parked on an incline up.....

I removed the drainback valve and in the hole I see a skinny spring about an inch and a half long and a little black skinny peice of plastic loose. Are they supposed to be there?

The drainback valve has a spring attached to it,,, with 3 little black plastic feet on it. Sounds like yours is broken.

Is the filter housing empty in the morning when you attempt to crank the engine. I am assuming you checked the glow plug system.

magnetic......crankshaft, block, lifter......not good. I send in a sample to Black Stone every other oil change and ANY metal is B.A.D. in my book. Spacific metal is from specific things. for example brass/chrome is a bearing (most of the time) and depending on WHAT metal it is will tell what is going on inside the engine. If there is magnetic metal inside the engine oil filter = the crankshaft/block/camshaft/lifter or in the 6.0 from low pressure pump? If it were MY engine and there was that much metal in the oil, i would be saving up money for a total overhaul because it cannot be saved if that much metal is showing up. Sucks.....but at least Anthony will rebuild it RIGHT
