Are they Playstation games 😂
But Lady Decade, I can't even play a BluRay on you. How can you possibly hope to compete with Sony?
I think your nuts and your underestimating the PlayStation 5 Pro
PS2 was compatible with PS1 because it had its hardware inside, same applies for early PS3s. The problem is that Phony gambled on some highly experimental HW for PS2 (and PS3 too) which made backwards compatibility a nightmare. What is the most insulting in this whole story is that Phony got away with what costed Sega their console business literally a decade earlier (the multi-chip Saturn).
Well, when you talk about the pride flag and Saudi Arabia, it's not so much as making money, as much as it is loosing money. I don't know much about Saudi, but I do know about the identity politics. I also know that some countries are completely against it. Meaning, if they hadn't removed the flags, it's possible the game could have been banned. There are many games in the US that are banned in other countries, for various reasons. I could very well be wrong, but in a business sense, Sony could have actually lost money. Now I don't know if things are going to get better, or worse. However, if you're in business, the worst thing you can do is alienate your customers. Alienating customers usualy leads to bankruptcy.
Sony is playing Russian roulette with itself...
they'll be fine. worry about xbawks ^_^
@@Kirby-Krios They won't be. People are slowly having enough with their censoring and silly AAA focus that producers very few games etc.

The PS1 was also far easier to program for than the N64, so it was really a no brainer for devs to make games for Sony instead.
Plus, cd media while Nintendo stuck with the limited cartridges.
The graphic's on N64 looked better but the PS was easier to program for so people would rather of worked on it over the more technical console, esoecially back then cause 3D territory was still new easier on PS to tinker with.
@@maroon9273 I would rather limited cartridges faster loading times rather instant loading times and N64 cartridges got bigger in rom size towards the end of its console life cycle.
@@GoofyPoptart It's not just the fact that carts had less space, but they were also more expensive (There was a period where the N64 versions of games cost more than the PSX versions). And with the extra space afforded with the discs, that means stuff like more CG movies and higher quality music
@@RippahRooJizah most people had both a PS1 and the N64 exclusive games meant the most back then

- Blu ray player

- Memory stick Pro Duo
- SD Card
- PS2 memory card
- Hard drive
- USB
- Multiple ways to listen to or watch media
- Video Files (Movies, TV shows, Music Videos, or any recorded video
- Music - CD Audio, MP3, WMA
- Pictures in various formats
- Custom themes for the console to use that we made ourselves.
- Backwards compatibility of PS2 games, and PS1 games on Disc
- Linux installtion on otherOS options with playstation.
We lost linux and backwards compatibility on PS3 but had everything else.
once PS4 came out we lost everything including our right free multiplayer online access. Couple of years later and the price went up higher. And it just went up higher again a year ago.
Sony is corrupted with greed.

It is certain that the choices of the management of Sony will cause a lot of wrong but they are not the only ones to make bad choices even on the sides of Xbox Gaming is the same.
The US branch of Sony is completely in opposition to their past value when Sony was directed by the Japanese branch
Make Sony/Japan great again.
The reverse of what happened to Sega lol
This. The PS headquarter moved to the US so they could compete with Xbox, not for being the PS brand has we all used to know and love.
N64 cartridges were 4MB to 64MB. CD's are 700MB. Even on 12 cartridges 3 CD's would have been so heavily compressed that the FMV's and graphics in general would have taken a massive hit and looked terrible.
Not true. Compression tech could put FFVII on N64. Square turned it down. It’s how you got Resident Evil on N64.
@@darinherrick9224 I literally just said it would have been heavily compressed and taken a massive hit in quality. Did you even read my message? Lol
Resident Evil 2 on N64 -
Bitrate was varied per clip - sequences with lots of motion were encoded with a higher bitrate while low motion scenes could make do with a reduced bitrate.
The frame-rate of the videos was halved from 30fps to 15fps - interpolation then is used to make up the difference which improves fluidity. The resolution of the clips was reduced.
Every possible nip and tuck were made to find the right balance and deliver acceptable results - and 'acceptable' perfectly sums up the final quality. It's plainly obvious that Nintendo 64's video clips fall short of the original PlayStation version. The brightness is halved, the reliance on motion interpolation reduces fluidity, resolution is lower and compression lossier - all of these things are evident and yet, it works.
Bespoke solutions for background and object rendering were also deployed. The overall detail level is slightly reduced compared to PlayStation.
The artwork is generally of a lower resolution and the eight by eight compression artefacts visible as a result of its JPEG-like compression are super-obvious, but it works.
Additional compression artefacts are visible as a result of the conversion and compression while detail is lost in other scenes due to reduction in asset size.
PlayStation simply features more detail all around.
@@darinherrick9224 Resident evil only had 15 minutes of FMV, FF7 had 53 minutes worth. Just this fact alone would make it impossible to compress onto one cartridge.
FF7 was A MUCH larger game all around and would have taken 12 cartridges WITH compression. It would have looked nasty on N64.
As far as I am aware there has never been any N64 games on multiple cartridges. It simple would not have been cost effective at all. Cartridges cost WAY more than CD's.
Both Sony and Microsoft have disappointed me this generation. Well actually Microsoft disappointed last generation too…
Give development cycles, I'm hoping Microsoft will turn it around in the latter half of this decade. They have alot of titles coming in the next few years
Well, Not microsoft, COD confirm coming to GAME PASS and tons of AAA games coming this year.
@3y270 the pulled an EA though by killing a couple of studios, the worst being arkane, Microsoft demanded that they'd make a live service game while they were masters at single player story telling.
Microsoft is in better position for now even though they quit hit a few potholes damaged
Game pass $180 annual cost purchased a whole lot more games on steam that I actually want to play. Actually I spend closer to $100 on steam and my backlog still keeps growing. I'm pretty sure I have enough games to last me and the kids until steam launches their next gen of VR. And there's been enough indies to keep us away from AAA for the last few years.
For me as a primarily portable gamer (since I just don't have the time for console or PC gaming as I do it mainly during commutes), the lack of any follow up to the Vita is what's killed interest for me. Hell, they didn't seem that invested in the Vita during its lifecycle which is a shame as IMO it's a really quite incredible handheld.
Now that I've jailbroken both my 3ds and Vita and literally have more games on there than I'll ever have time to finish, I just have no reason to pick up a modern console for the foreseeable future.
It's a shame that companies seem to have so little interest in portable gaming now, with options being either mobile games blown up to console size or "proper console/pc games" that you can take with you. But neither give the experience of games DESIGNED to be played on a portable system like the Vita or 3ds.
The steam deck is my portable gaming rig of choice. My vita died on me so I can't really say much about that machine.
This whole new generation has been very questionable for sony 😐 🙄
No it hasnt only terminally online people in youtube or social media think that just in 5 months they have droppe helldivers 2 ff7 rebirth gran blue stellar blade and many other bangers plus vr2 is an amzing way to play but most people on the internet aint real gamers just drama fake outrage junkies.
@@lordhorg999”many others” doesn’t mention any more
1 reason and 1 reason only shareholders, the reason steam is able to stay consumer friendly is because it’s a private company not beholding to investors who don’t care anything for gamers only wanting their investments back with interest.
The stock market was a mistake.
I loved ROM cartridges, because you could address data directly with the CPU without having it to load it into RAM and at the time with systems with less 512kb RAM that was a huge deal. I think the worst offense from Sony was during covid lockout they did absolutely nothing to protect their consumer base when there was a shortage of PS5s and people desperate enough (fan boys) were paying thousands of dollars to get their precious PS5
.... and Ebay facilitated it.
I luckily got 2 at launch, but there was no chance I was overpaying for it
Eh how is that Sonys fault?
While not on the level of PlayStation due to reseller greed the same thing happened when switch launched and pretty much any high demand item.
This is mainly due to reseller greed, and especially the use of bots to electronically snag items faster than a human consumer could ever do on their own.
I always wondered how it was possible Sony had a positive reputation to begin with.
People can be good in the beginning, that is possible.
I understand that people don't want to talk about politics but Sony practices seem imposed. How do you go from PS1 and PS4 wining strategies to the current ones with anti-consumer and censorship

I was a Playstation fan girl from the beginning. Then I went back to PC gaming on Steam & bought a Steam Deck. And OMG the games on the Steam Deck which is a hand held system looks just as good as a PS5, & like you said the sale on Steam store as amazing I got Dead Island 2 which is a new game for just over $20 instead of $60. I sold my Playstation 5 and have never looked back, because this girl is now a PC fan girl lol.

Not only did Sony do it again, they double did it again, by just flat out denying sales of Helldivers 2 and Ghost of Tsushima anywhere you can't make a PSN account, which is especially egregious for Ghost of Tsushima when you consider it's primarily a single player game.
The alternative is they need to sell Ghosts of Tsushima at a lower price to compensate for the lack of internet play, which they probably won't do.
Did you mention how Sony can also virtually reach into your house and take back what you have purchased, without warning or reason, be it games or media, due to their odd definition of "purchase"?
Check out page 21 of the EULA.
Not if you have the physical copy
Microsoft, Nintendo and Valve, Ubisoft, EA can do the same on PC
Nintendo? Well yes, the Switch has a lot of great games, no microtransactions and hey, even for me it is a great companion to take with me wherever i want. But we have to be honest here. Even if the Switch is a great success, that doesn‘t mean that Nintendo is pro consumer now. Their onlineservice is really bad, actually worse than it was on the WiiU. Nintendo still doesn’t release their games on other platforms, at least for PC. Nintendo is one of the most litigious companies and hates their fans. I can clearly feel that Iwata is missing. Reggie should have stayed. It looks like Nintendo is on the way to be like they were before.
You’re out of your mind Nintendo is on the way up. Nintendo is more postconsumer than both Sony Xbox and PC in myopinion.
Plus, Nintendo killing off virtual console and overprotective with their older software after discontinuing them. Fpga and pc is the way to go.
@@Adamtendo_player_1i‘m sorry, but Steam is at the moment the most pro consumer platform you can play your games on. Games are allways cheaper and you don’t have to pay for online. Nintendo‘s online Service on the Switch is not good.
@@Adamtendo_player_1 and talking about pro consumer. When you as a company, are providing the customer with a service or a product that benefits the customer, that is what i call a pro consumer service or a pro consumer product. The NS-Onlineservice is not like this. On the WiiU, online was free. Not only this, the virtual console also had a lot of old games, that i could have bought separately. In addition to that, the wiiU also had a Menu for the button-mapping. All this is not only missing in the NSO-service, especially the button mapping option, Nintendo is dipp-feeding me with old games with the- „you can only play old games WE want you to play“- mentality. Even the NSO-Controllers like the SNES Controller or the N64 Controller are locked behind this subscription. So, Nintendo not only locks their games behind old hardware and making it only accessible on their ecosystem, they are also making it harder for me to purchase a product, because it is locked behind subscription. In conclusion. Nintendo can provide us with a lot of great Games. But Nintendo is far away of being pro consumer.
@@roteperle7478Steam can also take your games away, just like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. The only launcher which doesn't, is GOG.
Man it seems like PlayStation and Xbox can never catch a break from controversies
Yeah but it's their own doing so you can't really feel bad for them. They need to learn the hard lessons and really feel it in their profits before they'll knock off all the anti consumer BS.
Instead of making quality games, they've been caught up in pandering to techies with hardware that have microscopic libraries.

As far as the switch goes, stick drift is very anti consumer.
Actually N64 cartridge's max size is 64 MB, so that would take 30 cartridges to fit FF7 - if FMVs were to be kept. A gameplay portion of the whole FF7 three disc set would fit a single cartridge no problem. In fact when porting some games to N64 - devs resorted to in-engine cutscenes to make up for the lack of space for FMVs.
That capacity was only available 2 years after FF7 was released though.
So even if they would have been sure of that possibility at development time, it just wouldn't have been an option. The end product would also have cost 3 times the disc version.
@@seriousblurs7996 N64 developers were ridiculously masterful at what they did with the hardware. Would find a solution.
Of course Nintendo choosing the cartridge format was extremely backwards of them, but I guess it's became a staple of theirs since N64. Like following up cartridges with miniDVD - what were they thinking?
@@wrmusic8736 Well, sure. But that is the case for most anything with limited resources. In the end though, there is only so much you can realistically do with what is given. A full Doom like on less than 100kb does exist. But aside from the novelty of it, it's just not worth the effort for most developers to go to such lengths. Dark Souls discs may be an extreme example, but there is likely tons (or kb) of pointless development garbage even on N64 carts.
Oh I know what they were thinking. "Surely no one will buy those expensive mini DVD-Rs to pirate!" ;) I also think that originally those little discs were supposed to go in a caddy, sort of the next gen 64DD. But they skipped it to make them even cheaper. The hatch for the cube is an oddly bulky design, and the disc bay could otherwise be quite spacious.
love these talks 💯..keep the videos coming
After hearing Lady Decade talk about Sony back in the 90s being the cool kids of gaming, I was thinking that's probably what they still think they're doing. They think the current audience they have are these self righteous, virtue signaling, puritanical, and just socially and politically charge people looking to spread their ideas of what it means to be "progressive", when it's not true that the majority is like that. Then hearing how predatory Sony is when it comes to subjects like inclusivity and caring about certain issues and vice versa, made me think otherwise. All I can say is Sony is just nothing more than a has been. I hate to say that cuz I consumed Sony's products and quite frankly I loved their consoles. I love PS4 and 5 but then seeing them censor my games just really make me feel begrudging especially since I dont have a beast PC.
@etrotm1226
Sony catered to gamers, especially competitive gamers; Microsoft catered to non-gamers who wanted to play games casually - two very different demographics.
@@adlorin .... I don't see how that relates to what I said, but okay.

Thankfully the 'edgy' culture and attitude culture did not poison and permeate in the magical lovely Square games like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy and such. It was kinda in FFVII but not too much and was nigh no existent in FFVIII and FFIX. I'd be ashamed if Square made a GTA or Mortal Kombat(ugh I cannot stand these two franchised ugh) esque story based rpg.
I haven't played Stellar Blade but the censorship stuff with that game doesn't bother me that much. The details aren't that huge to me. And I actually liked the WiiU
🤣. It gets so much flack but the games were so pretty and the exclusive controls some of the games had like splatoon and and rayman origins were amazing. But yeah Sony. A lot of their consoles were released on the backs of other companies failures. As well as creating the anti 2-D graphics movement which ruined a lot of gaming opportunity.

Much like comics- they completely abandoned the fans who got them there in pursuit of the mythical "new audience".
Only Playstation I bought was the first one so I could play Pac-Man World, which was an exclusive at the time... I think. Either way, I never needed any more iterations of the console.
...so maybe Sega will make a console comeback! It seems like the market might be opening up for new competition!
I'd settle for Atari or Philips at this point..

Sony has become creepy and anti- humanity. It isn’t surprising that humans may cease doing business with such people. The same is going to happen to all other industries doing the same. Enough!

They got too greedy completely abandoning the average everyday gamer and destroyed themselves… tsk tsk I kinda enjoyed the ride but realizing how they played all of us I feel Nothing💯0…..
😂 No, why would Playstation Owners care about account creation on PC 😂 their actuall issue is that PS5 is too expensive in Europe(about US$170 more than the ps4 in 2017 adjusted for inflation theres a reason its the only region where it is behind the ps4) and overprogresive directors in their US studios.
Overprogressive? There’s nothing progressive about any of this crap. It’s all a lie to pander to the blue haired weirdos and corporate circle-jerkers out there who advocate for this crap cos it makes them look/seem oh so virtuous 🙄.
Perhaps Sony is the new Nintendo of America? If so, Microsoft's XBox division is the new Atari or NEC...if you ask me, Sony's consumer unfriendliness began when they got rid of the PS2 backwards compatibility on the PS3. That's when I stopped buying their consoles...Switch overtaking the PS2's sales record is inevitable at this point by the way.
Remember they also charged $600 for PS3. Then they reduced the price by removing backwards compatibility.
I’ve been a PSN fanboy but then I got an Xbox and noticed it’s SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER. XBOX series X is so much more powerful and has ray tracing. And looks like a legit console. Has backwards compatibility. Better UI. Game pass gives access to many new and older games. Microsoft is being very careful about whom they make exclusive to their systems. Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls and so on. I just feel like they are being more attentive to what is going on. XBOX SERIES X LOOKS SOOO MUCH BETTER GRAPHICALLY. Runs smoother. It’s like night and day.

Everything else...so like 99%...big thumbs up on all your points.
The one part you're missing, is that Gamepass was ALWAYS a terrible idea. It's not consumer friendly at all, as it's predatory for any Medium and Large game companies. The amount of money they make back for their time on Gamepass, and the lack of hard sales, and those sales going down drastically, would be enough to tank any medium sized studio within 2 or 3 games. Especially if Gamepass goes multi-system. That would destroy the Indie scene entirely, by creating a fixed glass ceiling where unless they're able to weather the storm of always negative returns for a period, or get lucky with actual purchases, and hit a certain size to where they can feel confident in NOT using Gamepass at all for advertising, and guarantee sales, they'll be crushed.
Gamepass is a nifty idea, but it's a very bad one and a terrible model. It needs to be at soul crushing levels of monthly costs in the 25~50 range for it to be remotely profitable long term for any company putting games on there.
Small indie studios? Sure, it's fantastic, as it grants them a larger potential audience, and likely greater general returns than they would have had with raw sales. Especially with the handful, maybe 100~1000 extra raw real sales on other systems that don't have Gamepass, from those who feel like supporting the company and game further. I say up to 1000, as there's almost no data supporting Gamepass = extra sales, but I don't doubt there are some. The majority of people who sign on can't afford much, or aren't interested in spending extra on games when they blow through a bunch in a weekend and resell on Monday, so it's convenient less for cost effectiveness than in having to get up off the couch to sell, setup a sale on ebay/mercari/fbMarketplace/etc., or go anywhere else after work but home.
What Sony gives is already more cost effective. You get 3~4 free games per month, that so long as you pay for at least the most basic version of their service, are always accessible. If you stop paying PSN, and pay again 1, 2, 3 years later, that library you formerly had is still available, so long as the games are still on the store. To make that work, they have to give a decent cut to the game companies who put games on the store. Not as much as retail, but a decent enough sum.
The rest of their service is modeled more after Nintendo and they DID expand the "rental" options. Though they want larger cuts of the profits, however we don't know if they incentivize the companies who own those older games, or those whose games are from the PS4 library for that aspect of temporary access like Gamepass, to put the effort into converting more of their own game library to the PSN higher tiers. However going overboard like Gamepass would necessarily kill what's left of the industry. There's a reason why a lot more major studios are more reticent to release and keep games on Gamepass. I wouldn't be surprised if the main reason any of them are, and why Microsoft isn't making any profit but instead is at a loss, is they're spending to keep those games coming in like they have a subscription base of 90,000,000 gamers. Their number for generating profit.
A lot of questionable decisions regarding the PS5 generation, cross-play, backwards compatibility and such is due to the leadership of Jim Ryan. Now that he's no longer in the role and with new leaderships taking over, hopefully it'll steer the Playstation brand towards a better path.
What an absolute breeze to watch. An amazingly made video. Cannot praise this enough. Ma'am big props
Steam is VERY consumer friendly! They did the unprecedented not too long ago! The Day Before, a massive over promised game, where people payed money for, the devs severely over estimated their game, and when it finaly came out, people were furious, Steam had this policy that, if you played more than 5 hours, they could refuse the refund, but people had more than 5 hours, because the game couldn't connect reliably to it's own servers, and when you finally got in, the game kicked you out after 5 minutes or so! It was a disaster! They refuned EVERYONE, even people who didn't ask for a refund, got their money back! This is something where Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo and PC could take a lesson from! No consumers, no money! Simply as that!
I have a PC and a Nintendo Switch. That's all I really need right now. PlayStation is bringing their games to PC. Xbox is too day 1 also so don't have to wait there either. I have plenty of games to play in the meanwhile while I wait for new things. Elden Ring DLC coming out soon. Things are looking up for me really at the moment.
Reminds me the Sony with the PS3 YLOD, first years of "new" Playstation and reputation melting, but by different reasons...
This is where Sega needs to comeback.
Sony said they wont force PSN with Helldivers 2 but beind the backs, after the reviews were back to good, they actually added the baltics to get to 180 countrys, banned from playing a game they bought.
So HD2 drama is still not over.
More REAL TALK!!! ❤❤❤
Should have titled it "My problem with Playstation" instead of PS is in trouble.....I was waiting for the reason and it never came, just personal opinions 🤷♂️
The ps5 console is heavy for a console. You have to carry it a certain way and it looks like a high rise apartment for roaches.
LA Sony does have one message though! It’s “try PC gaming” 😂
In all seriousness, I’ve been a console gamer for decades. It was just easier. But being older, hopefully smarter, and of more means, taking my business elsewhere makes more sense than fighting an ethical war with a company that very obviously doesn’t care about ethics.
Gaming is more main stream, for better or worse, and the options just keep multiplying. One thing will always be true though, money talks and the market will inevitably correct itself.
It's funny (or not) because it's true though. "Making consoles is hard, risky and expensive... Can't we get someone else to do it?" -Fly on the wall of Sony HQ.
That SFA3 music in the background ❤
2:42 that's parasite eve!
Lady Decade!❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Nintendo made a mighty comeback! I love them all. Glad we have access to so many great games. And love your content!
Off topic but I love that purple gameboy advance in that back
this what happens when you think you are to big to fail...you fall fast and crash hard.
That's a banging looking PS5 in the thumbnail. Wish they could be sold like that kinda like an electronic fireplace
If only I could be put in charge of PlayStation! If I were put in charge of PlayStation tomorrow, I would:
- make sure the PlayStation 6 is more user friendly than the PS4 and 5
- give developers better tools so they can get games done sooner
- dust off Psygnosis IPs like Lemmings, Shadow of The Beast etc
- do more to make games from past PlayStations easily available again (even PlayStation Vita!)
- rebuild Japan Studio and other shut down divisions of PlayStation
- release a new PlayStation Classic that has better emulation, a better, bigger games lineup and Dualshock controllers
Its really ironic that Nintendo is on top now, and without even releasing a next gen console
I have no idea why you put a title that says PlayStation's in trouble. When in face the playstation 5 pro will change everything from that.
Yes sony is destroying itself, Same with xbox, Ea and ubisoft. This seems to be a growing trend in the gaming industry, Welcome to 2024 , I mean check out ubisofts new creed title " Afro Samurai " 😆
I still haven't got a ps5 yet, was waiting for gta6, but that's not coming out until the end of next year.
I remember going on a college trip to Fireaxis Games which his owned by Take Two. This was around 2011. The guy there that we talked to said how great it would be if there was only one console to program for. I asked him "Why not just makes games for the PC?" He just looked at me weird. Well look where we are now! That guy was an idiot.
Great 👍 time to build a PC. Enjoy the Best versions of PlayStation and Xbox games
Great analysis
Nintendo gives me physical games that I OWN, non region locked games I can get from anywhere..and they aren't censored. I can get a weird game, or home brew on my Switch. I don't care about the most powerful. I care about fun, and freedom to do what I want. I own 25 game systems and have no desire for a PlayStation.
Went they started porting games to PC, censoring games, choosing services of single player games and not focusing on the console has destroyed the brand.
The gaming industry made it cool to be edgy with edgy games and marketing for about 2 decades and now all of a sudden they want it to be safe and family friendly to some extent.
It's as if they want everyone to change all of a sudden, ain't gonna happen.
saw this coming so went to PC gaming and haven’t looked back.
if they made the game for modern audience, just let the modern audience support the game, im out. still too much game from the past that I havent experience it yet
Happened as soon as PlayStation started putting games on PC now the brand has no identity not even Dual sense features are exclusive
Sucks that there are many classics that will never be available on GOG, but those that are, could very well last me a lifetime. Still have a Steam account, though. And my next PC will most likely be a maxed-out Steam Deck 2.
SEGA needs to make a new console! Back to the roots, no mind control, DEI/ESG, no diversity hiring, propaganda or brainwashing - just good games!
I have to add that I would buy SEGA console if they ever make one and skip the next gen Sony. I have Sony consoles 1-5 but I'm ready to change if we get SEGA.
Console gaming died the moment they abandoned single-player, curated games for live service games full of microtransactions. Don't believe me? Look at all our big game franchises, look at how they began and what they are now; what do they all have in common.
