I know it has been awhile since this posting but I want to thank you for posting it. It makes me realize that an instructional video like this can inform the viewer of what the presenter is doing and with what materials, but it cannot inform the viewer of why these choices are made...so many years of practice are behind the decisions to do what they choose to demonstrate.
Great to see you working Susan. I'm walking well now without a cane, settled in NJ and starting to print again. Thanks so much for sharing all that info. Ann Williams
This looked like a very attractive creative process - and I really liked that you also used brush work in stead of only mechanical equipment of different sorts. To me it makes an image more interesting, more filled with true movement and breath - more embodied, so to speak. And a great working space you had created. Very inspiring
Where were you when I was in art school in printmaking 101? Everything your showing is what I want to learn to do! There was limited creativity in our class in mono printing. Where do you teach this? Where do we get the plates? Are you using Plexi glass?
Thank you @linda mathew ! You can check out Akua printmaking workshops (many of which are monotype) via our Upcoming Workshops and Demos directory here on our website: www.speedballart.com/events/category/demonstrations-workshops/akua-printmaking/ . The plates are the Akua Printmaking Plates, which are made of PETG plastic. They are also thinner than your traditional plexiglass plate. Our plates are sold at various art supply stores around the country as well as our website: www.speedballart.com/product/akua-printmaking-plates/ :
Looks like great fun...think I could scale down for a smaller print..The brayers look amazing..thank you for sharing and all the great advice..so helpfull. ...great results x
Interesting! How long would you say you can leave liquid pigment on the plate before it won’t print good any longer? I like to take my time when working on a monotype and am looking for an ink that will allow me to work on a plate for hours and preferably days. Maybe the akua intaglio ink is better suited to that purpose?
Can the Akua plates also be used for watercolor monoprints?I am kind new to monoprints and since I already have watercolors I would like to start with that.

plate over paper is very clever! I didn't even know you were the inventor of akua inks until i went to the speedball site.

Thank you @Margaret Garcia!
I really like your artwork, I hope that in the future you make more videos and upload more constantly.
Thank you for the informative tutorial. Just wondering whether you wet the paper first and what weight of paper you use? Thanks in advance

This is informative and inspiring. Thank you!
Glad to hear it, thank you for watching!
Lovely work! Please, oh please, where to find those very thin brayers you used on the stencils. Thanks
Great video, thank you!
Thank you @Hermina Miklos !!
Enjoyed your demo Thank you
You're welcome! Thank you for watching :)
Very informative! Thank you!!
My Prints with Akua Ink on Paper needs ages to dry… Is there any tip, what to do for a quicker dry?
Amazing, thank you!
Thanks Sheila!
What kind of table do you use?
small question.when i try to press the liquid akua pigment ,the color always went out the area of the plate a lot.
That means you have too much ink on the plate. Roll small amounts at a time and keep the ink flat and smooth so it doesn't spread when printing.
@@akuaprintshop4511 thank you .
@@duckyprinting1337 You're welcome!

Hello! Yes, you can use the Akua Printmaking plates for any mono print technique.
Love your demo...can you tell me the weight of petg up are using? It seems like a nice material to work with.
The Akua Printmaking plates are .030 mil
heading to a workshop...I need a Green Studio Ink to work with!
love it !
Could you share who made that light table?
Lovely
Thank you!
Great video, but I would like to know if your paper is wet or dry?
As far as I've learned from the video the Acua inks stay wet "forever", so no need to wet the printing papers.
GooorGEOUS!!!!!
This is new to me. wow
Is that a plexiglass table?
It's a home-made table. Just a light unit underneath a glass table :)
Very interesting Susan! Thanks for your reply...
Hardsell for Acula paints.
That mondo brayer!
L💖VE!!!!
Interesting but very expensive use of materials.
So I'm gonna need a bigger brayer....
less naming the name of the paint...once or twice is more than enough...
Marry me please
