    Excellent instructional video showing the value of working with both, Akua's original inks in successful combination with Akua Intaglio using the highly affordable Pin Press for those who love to make prints but can't afford an etching press. If you don't have an etching press, having a Pin Press has the added value of being able to work in your own studio space when you want. You are not tied to someone else's studio availability. Good job!

      Please don't buy it. Steel roller machine or Etching press is worth the investment, not the hand roller pin press falsely advertised here. The regular etching press can produce enough pressure for the inks to insert in dampen paper. Hand rollers simply doesn't have the power. You can see the result. Ms. Susan Rostow spends a lot of money to advertise AKUA inks and hand steel roller and I am one of the unfortunate idiot to fell for it. It was really like travelling to India to get enlightenment and getting dysentry insteand.

    The hand steel roller is a travesty to this beautiful medium of art. It doesn't have enough pressure to produce good quality prints. The final print's horrible quality is the testament.

      @orion7741 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      huh? countless professional artists would disagree with you.... the roller style etching press is standard equipment used by any and all serious printmakers. not exactly sure what other methods you are thinking of but the steel roller press is the only one that gives good results.

      AKUA inks and this pin press is just terrible. I am not sure what 'countless' artist you found who uses this hand roller. I have been in printmaking for nearly three decades. I am the only goon, whom I know bought this piece of junk.

    • @johnpierce3042

      Well the personal label of goon makes sense. Obviously an etching press will give enough pressure for printing an etching. The point (as stated in the video) is the PinPress is cheaper and more accessible. You can clearly see great results here so what exactly are you spouting off about on every comment ?

    Can you use the medium to thicken the regular Akua inks, I find the colours a little bit too loose. The black is excellent.

    can i print linocut with this pin press?

    • @akuaprintshop4511
      @akuaprintshop4511  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Romana R you certainly can! We recommend you apply thin layers of the Akua Inks for relief printing, as the inks dry by absorption. You may want to lightly draw where your plate ends on the back of your print or newsprint to you don't abruptly roll off the edge and risk shifting the print when printing your linocut with the Pin Press.

    • @sarahwangp
      @sarahwangp 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For linocut I would say it's much easier to use a baren to hand-print
