Ava Gardner is my favourite actress and Gregory Peck is my favourite actor, I'm grateful that they made 3 movies together because they had a superb chemistry as a couple.
This is my favorite film of all time. A beautiful love story, exciting melodrama, and moral lesson, all in one classic B&W anti-war movie that will never leave you. Watch it.
@@michaelwhite2823 The government seems to be pushing it though, exactly as we did by staging more and more troops and missiles on Russia's sovereign borders. The Military/Industrial Establishment wanted war, and now they've got one. We supply the bullets, and the Ukrainians supply the blood.
@@marinagamm1951 NOT ONLY is "On The Beach" my favorite film, but Greg Peck is my all-time favorite actor, too. When I looked at his resume, imagine my shock to realize that he was in SIX of my TOP TEN movies. His character range was amazing. Do you think Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt could do these films?? Never in a million years.
Starlight kicking around without you by my side makes me feel alright I start this day as new Until I wake up find myself and I'll break up Today ain't gonna be great But I can re-write this through You know I need you sometimes And ill hold on too tight No matter what my reasons are I still do love you I do, I do, I do, I do, I do, I choose you So why don't you choose me too There's no mistake On a lonely day I want you I cant chase away my bitter cold And dark days stand away When I see you and your beautiful ways To be hollow stop, go, I don't know But if your thinking bout leaving me NO,NO,NO We can get through it, that's how we do it You know I need you sometimes And ill hold on tight No matter what my reasons are I still do love you I do, I do, I do, I do, I do, I choose you So why don't you choose me too There's no mistake On a lonely day I want you So why don't you want me too There no mistake Its not even a lonely day And I want you So why don't you want me too (I don't know if these lyrics are accurate)
FUN FACT : Ava Gardner did NOT say "Melbourne was the perfect place to make a film about the end of the world"... the author of the piece in the Sydney Morning Herald that contained the quote, Neil Jillett, admitted that the quote was fabricated. He was writing a tongue-in-cheek piece about the filming at the time, and attributed the quote to Gardner in a friend of a friend way, and then his editor changed it to a direct quote from Gardner.
Peck was 42 or 43 here. He was captain of a sub and the navy doesn't give that job to a 25 or 30 year old. Ava was 36 or 37. Their ages seem perfectly ok to me.

Gregory Peck such a beautiful man.
Not even ONE Hollywood actor left like him. In fact, all the really great ones are now dead.

All great actors in tragic times...has a bit of echo in today's news.
Thank you but you left out the scene where he playfully snacks her tookus with the oar.

Ava always said she didn't like the press because they were always making up stories about her
Film capolavoro. Permettetemi una battuta:"la terza guerra mondiale sarà combattuta col nucleare, la quarta col fotovoltaico"
The chemistry between the two....was obviously not so good....😊
Really?? They were good friends from their first movie (1949) until Ava died in 1990. This was 1959/movie -- probably shot in 1958
@@lray1948 Yes friends, of course...

That kiss wrecked the first film. Ruined the story in such a devastating way.
What was so bad about the kiss?
@@lray1948 in the book he wasn’t able to process his wife / family being dead back home.
