I'm counting the days to be there. To be able to buy one of those houses and renovate is a top goal of mine. Thanks for the lovely walk and talk. I really enjoyed it!
Indeed, Itzimna is lovely because it's green, it boasts "clean-ner" streets and few bus routes... it's still close enough to walk to the paseo or even downtown! It has a few epic restaurants and bakeries, like the Wayan'e taco stand. All this means that buying is defo more expensive 🫰🏼 in this old colonia but you might get lucky if persistent! 🤔💪🏼 I'm loving the walking tours, please keep them coming. Happy new year! 😊🙌🏼😌
We've been staying in Itzimna for a few weeks and have about 2.5 more. This is our second stay in Merida, the last was Nov 2023, but didn't really feel any connection here. We had made some friends here last time, and felt that maybe the location of our first Airbnb wasn't the greatest to experience this city, so this time we are staying between El Monumento and the Walmart. It's definitely a better neighborhood, but we just don't love this city the way others do, unfortunately. The biggest issue I have is with the litter that's "litter"-ally all over the place, along with the piles of rubble and garbage that are entirely too common. We decided to try to clean up some of the litter around our rental, to help make it a little nicer, and we didn't even make it halfway around 1 square block before we'd filled both of the garbage bags we'd bought. I wish they could get it together, and that the locals cared more about the condition of the city to many of them are so proud to call home.
Thanks for showing this video Amy. We are about to make our biannual trip down there. I have been wanting to check out this neighborhood. I will definitely be visiting that coffee shop.
Seems possible to own somewhere that’s quiet. I do like the happy Mexican music when you get closer to the city. What kind of bird is that which is talking a lot? I love that sound. Very tropical sounds.
@ I would love to visit. I once had an all inclusive (don’t judge me) holiday in Cancun. The food was very much geared to the US market but for every meal there was a Mexican food station. We were the only people eating Mexican food! Everything was labelled ‘Traditional Mexican Dish’ so, to this day I have no idea what I was eating. It’s part of the thrill of travel. You know you will have an enthralled audience for any food video. Have a wonderful New Year. Kind regards x
More walking tours please!…Enjoyed this one so much!…Thank You!❤️🇲🇽
Hi Kimberly, more coming for sure. :) Thank you.
I agree! ❤

You’ll love it here! The Itzimná neighborhood is one of my favorites.

Wonderful. It is really easy to get there and wander around. Try the Va y Ven. :)

Hi Elizabeth, I think it is the "tick tock" bird, a Toh.
Have just found your account. I am a food, drink and travel writer in the UK so all this is wonderful viewing for me. Kind regards from London.
Hi Chrissie, Mérida is quite the food and drink destination. I hope you can come visit someday.

Just ordered Leonie's book for someone special 🤗 May order one for myself.
Awesome. It is bizarre but so fun. I still can't finish the 100 things list but it is fun to try.
Thanks for showing! Wow, I heard no barking dogs 😅
Itzimná is a very peaceful neighborhood. I'm sure there are dogs somewhere though. :)
Best coffee in the Yucatan is Cale Latte in itzimna..and by the way, you look good,.
YESSSS!! I take it you are a regular. And, thank you. ;)
I am glad I have seen you videos. And as a result, this town does not seem that much appealing.
It's not for everyone for sure. Glad we saved you the trip. Happy exploring.
