Awesome car update! Rear bumper looks fantastic. Hyped for how it's gonna turn out 🔥

probably the most collest pool table lamp I've ever seen. Sadly, we never got the 1-series hatch in the US.

Hey just an FYI From a BMW Maniac - if the plan with the car is to be a daily that you can drift around a couple corners, that LSD kit SHOULD do the job. However, if you're planning on sliding the car everywhere you go or on a track then do not go with the RacingDiffs LSD. I've just bought my 3rd 3 series, a manual 330ci E46 and it came with one of those kits in the box, not installed yet. When i had my first 330ci E46 i was looking into them as they're cheap, and didn't hear much good news about them, and now that i got one free with my new E46 everything I've read about them says they're pretty crap. Best case, they'll really help you slide in the wet, and a decent bit in the dry if you get a shorter ratio diff, but worst case, the clutch spring won't slot in correctly and will blow up your diff. So if you can buy a junkyard diff that you don't care about (I suggest one with a ratio of 3.91 or even 4.01 if your 1 series is a 4 cylinder, which it is by the sounds. Shorter ratio = less top speed but easier to spin the tires) then yeah for the price maybe the RacingDiffs would be a decent starter investment, just don't be surprised if it blows up and you have to get your car towed 🤣 also, keep in mind they're only 30% lock, so yes both wheels will be spinning, but one may be spinning 3.33x as fast as the other.

thanks so much fr the detailed comment, yea i did not read too much good stuff, but also read a few good things so we were not fully sure on what diff to get yet, we are def still on the lookout.

fully agreed all my frends with racingdiffs threw them away and got a actual lsd especially because of shitty behavior while drifting, almost all agreed that they are okay enought for normal track days not drifting tho. Also there is a mosochistic way i did which i call the variable budget LSD - swap my dif to a welded one at the track lol

@@lenahachi I fully agree with the comment above. I've got an E46 and was considering the RacingDiffs LSD but the risk of having my diff seize is not worth it imo. Instead I've gone with a blackline helical LSD and I'm very happy with it. It's the same design as a Quaife but cheaper.

@@persianboysina Thanks for the headsup guys, im looking into some options and i found a quaife QDF18N, not sure if it will fit for my model we need to check as it only says its for the e87, and a blackline one, but itd be for the 116i manual and i assume i could use it in the 118i N43b20a potentially, but it would sacrifice some top speed from what i heard, which wouldnt really bother me.

@@lenahachi You can identify your diff type by checking on realoem or bmwfan info, put in your model, go to rear axle, go to "Final drive, gasket set" and look at the diff cover. That'll tell you which type it is (e.g. 188k, 188L...). Non of these LSD's will change your gearing/final drive since they use your original pinon and ring gear. One thing to note, you'll need new side bearings (the ones towards the axles) and its worth changing the seals too. Hope that helps.

I will judge if you'd weld the diff 🙃

Please please please save up for a proper LSD this thing is dangerous, it will destroy your diff after a short while but if it locks up in an unforseen moment it will cause a crash. That thing is not an LSD and should be banned. I'm working on my e36 323ti yeah that ugly cuntpact but I realised I have to spend like 1200€ for a proper diff or weld it no other way maybe some Torsen type which should be cheaper but it has it's drawbacks

No worries, was already informed about it before in the comments, i have a 135i now but im getting a blackline or a quaife for my car, thanks nonetheless =)

And while looking for LSD's have a look at the final drive ratios so you can make the most out of it, maybe later you can check out some minor steering lovk enhancement kits but that's not important to learn. My first mod was to put it in a nice stock condition and I've bought a proper seat with nice side support, you don't want to be thrown around and holding yourself in olace with your elbows and knees. I consider the hydro ebrake a good saving angel if you overdo something but liked to learn to initiate the slides without it.
