I would go with the lesser known school because of the finacial situation of my family. As long as it is a school in the US that is giving me the scholarship, I don't have any reservations because I hold the US educational system in high regard.

With regards to your question, I would definitely go for the less known college simply because of financial stability and at the end of the day I believe my personal capabilities would pave way for me in the employment market, regardless of which college I graduated from.

Hi, because of my country's education system we don't have AP classes. So, I didn't take any of them. And my GPA or test scores not perfect. But I trust my portfolio, extracurricular activities etc. Should I apply these high ranking schools?
AP is not compulsory, if you have a great profile definitely apply for some of the dream schools!

In most cases, yes you have to give either TOEFL or IELTS. In some cases, universities are able to provide a waiver, but you will have to individually request them via email

If you are saying that, I want to join Duke because it has scholarship, then it is not a good idea at all. Joining a university should be more personal and tell them what Duke offers to you and why you want to join it!

In some cases yes, especially for the Masters with thesis route and PhD is fully covered whereas M.Eng will not be covered!
What will happen if somebody gets in a college in early decision and and turns that college down for another one
you cannot turn it down, it's a legally binding offer. There are very strict rules, of course students have the reason of not being able to afford but this could lead to being black listed from all US colleges

It's a good within reach college, it is mostly liberal arts so not the best for STEM degrees!
