Philippines and Vietnam are both great nation with rich culture and history. This two country keep on moving up for the betterment of their respective people. They have their own advantages and disadvantages. Evident is the Smog on Vietnam capital, one factor is that it’s semi landlocked with neighboring country whereas Philippines is an archipelago surrounded by sea, making it’s sky bluer and clearer.

I am a Korean working in Ho Chi Minh City. Compared to Korea, I have no inconvenience at all. The people are kind and the food is delicious. At the same time, it is lively and full of energy. I want to visit the Philippines someday! I hope that the Southeast Asian country and Korea become closer. I have no doubt that Southeast Asia will play a leading role in Asia in the future.

A great comment. You have point. Metro manila in the philippines have poor urban plan. Some part are dirty but some part are highly developed. Its better to have an equal development for everyone not just for one.
i am from South Africa i been to these 2 cities of SEA and Manila really blown my mind it has very dense tall skyscrapers i lived in Makati and sometimes go to BGC in Hochimin only District 1 has highrise the rest of the city has no buildings. Manila also way more developed and advanced compared to Hochiminh.

I don't like a city full of skyscrapers. It was really suffocating. But a city covered with trees, lakes, and nature will bring the most comfortable feeling to everyone living there. Forget the skylines. Compare the ground level around Landmark to the ground level in BGC or Makati CBD. It's not even comparable. BGC and Makati look like downtowns of massive cities in developing countries. They're actually walkable and clean

I have been to both cities, I have to say that the CBDs where most of the skyscrapers are located, HCMC or Hanoi can not compare with Manila CBDs like Makati or BGC but the Vietnamese cities overall look so much better, the residential areas outside the CBDs do not look unpleasing like in Manila, they still look lively and has its own character. Our cities don't have many slums like The Philippines. I think in the future when most of the designated areas for skyscrapers are developed in Vietnam, our skyline will look so much better the The Philippines. Vietnamese cities are developed later than The Philippines so we need time to catch up.

However, its a long way. I think Vietnam will be ahead in infrastructure for the meantime. Philippines geography make it hard to develop.

However I think in the future Philippines business area will be even larger because of its centralize approach and large population concentrated in Luzon. Metro Clark and Metro Manila will be like a twin metropolis. Although, Vietnam are planning to take the Asian tiger export manufacturing base economy, industrialization might encourage more Vietnamese to move to the cities like what happen to South Korea. so HCMC can increase in size.

MetroManila will surpass any asean neighbors in short period of time. Its really fast development city. Many slums were rid off and relocate. Singapore is small but metro manila keeps expanding. We have makati city, bgc, eastwoodbcity, ortigas cbd,roxas cbd, greenbelts,arca cbd .so so many in development.

BGC, Eastwood City and CBD-Makati are more modern and cleaner than Vietnam's central business hubs.. When you say Filipinos are overproud, you should look atba mirror. So many vietnamese are saying that they should not be compared to Indonesia, Philippines and many other countries in Asia because their economy is going to beat that of Japan and Germany. Many vietnamese are saying that they are richer than Filipinos. Well, Vietnam is the only plave in the world where I see heavy traffic caused by motorcycles instead of cars and other four-wheeled vehicles. Manila's notorious traffic, on the other hand, is caused by cars, suvs, trucks, buses and other four-wheeled vehicles. 😩

@jeddee3820 You can't put HCMC side by side with Manila. Manila is too far up above the level of any Viet city. Manila does not need an iconic tower, the skyline alone is 100 times better than that of HCMC even with its horrendous copycat of Burj Khalifa tower, Manila stomps it with its number of skyscrapers. The traffic issue is where you are having over-the-top arrogance and ignorance, the traffic in Vietnam is so unorganized you barely can't move due to the poor people on their bikes or motorcycles or scooters right everywhere on the lanes. Talking about slums, that's an outdated issue and is now controlled in Manila. Therefore your claim over HCMC being a better place over Manila is invalid. So you can keep it yourself or just keep on dreaming.

i am from South Africa i been to these 2 cities of SEA and Manila really blown my mind it has very dense tall skyscrapers i lived in Makati and sometimes go to BGC in Hochimin only District 1 has highrise the rest of the city has no buildings. Manila also way more developed and advanced compared to Hochiminh.

I have been to both cities, I have to say that the CBDs where most of the skyscrapers are located, HCMC or Hanoi can not compare with Manila CBDs like Makati or BGC but the Vietnamese cities overall look so much better, the residential areas outside the CBDs do not look unpleasing like in Manila, they still look lively and has its own character. Our cities don't have many slums like The Philippines. I think in the future when most of the designated areas for skyscrapers are developed in Vietnam, our skyline will look so much better the The Philippines. Vietnamese cities are developed later than The Philippines so we need time to catch up.

However, its a long way. I think Vietnam will be ahead in infrastructure for the meantime. Philippines geography make it hard to develop.

Metro Clark and Metro Manila will be like a twin metropolis. Manila does not need an iconic tower, the skyline alone is 100 times better than that of HCMC even with its horrendous copycat of Burj Khalifa tower, Manila stomps it with its number of skyscrapers. The traffic issue is where you are having over-the-top arrogance and ignorance, the traffic in Vietnam is so unorganized you barely can't move due to the poor people on their bikes or motorcycles or scooters right everywhere on the lanes. Talking about slums, that's an outdated issue and is now controlled in Manila. Therefore your claim over HCMC being a better place over Manila is invalid. you have to be the dumbest person around. Just 4-5 blocs of ho chi minh has more than 20 tall buildings, same with Hanoi and Da Nang, Nha Trang. Have u seen those cities or been to it? Such idiotic comments.
