    my 21 S Manual has a AEM intake, a roar pedal, and the Race Chip. I DEFINITELY feel the gains from the chip alone as I've disabled it several times to see. On a recent trip to Ohio, I got 49mpg in ECO mode! Also, yes, the directions was a different engine, but it was still a simple install! I velcroed mine to the back of my intake

      Thanks for the feedback on the chip, i agree you definitely feel the chip power gains kick in.

    Just bought my first jetta, lucky to have a GLI. Im so excited to see all the aftermarket mods i can do it. My old car was a chevy sonic. I loved it except for the fact that all the sweet mods were only for the 1.4 turbo. I was blessed with the 1.8 so very few if any mods

    I have a 1.4 Jetta and if you turn off the traction control and shift manually even without brake boosting you should be able to reach 7.9 or lower without a chip.

  • @BabyBugBug

    I often get 8 seconds 0-60. Of course it depends on the weather and how warmed up the car is. Very peppy little engine.

    “race chip”= bad idea, Get rid of that garbage, seriously. A real tuning company like APR, unitronic, or even something like hp tuners can offer you something way better than the garbage you decided to buy. If you don’t want an ecu flash JB4 is the absolute best option, light years better than the race chip.

    • @NOTaGLI
      @NOTaGLI 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JB4

    • @BackyardDude
      @BackyardDude  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your comment/recommendation John! As you probably already know HP Tuners doesn't offer anything for a Jetta. We feel that the race chip is an option for a novice who doesn't want to worry about having someone program an ECM/ECU and can PnP a device into the car to increase horsepower and fuel economy.

    • @NOTaGLI
      @NOTaGLI 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BackyardDude so let me just say, there are a few different ways to have the ecu flashed remotely in your driveway, check out Unitronic and there U-connect cable, easy to flash back and forth between stock and different tunes.
      And like I said before(I slightly modified the original comment, decided it was missing information and a bit harsh) the Jb4 is a much more suitable piggy back ecu compared to the racechip.

    • @hotskillet
      @hotskillet 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m looking for a piggyback option since APR in my area (Japan) is extremely expensive and Unitronic evidently doesn’t support my model ECU.
      Is there any data that shows a JB4 being adding more HP than the Racechip?

    • @NOTaGLI
      @NOTaGLI 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hotskillet you will be able to add as much horsepower as the car can handle. Only thing that you will be be stuck with is the speed limiter. You can add as much boost as you want with map 6 on the jb4, enough to blow the turbo if you arent careful.

    Put a cold air intake on my 2017 jetta and all it did was make an annoying noise and HP loss.Put the stock filter setup back on with a KnN filter and got a lil better HP w/o the noise.

      @@stefgayle5881 Sorry for the slow response, it's been crazy at my full time job! I don't think the app is that well designed personally! The chip is really more for a mid to high end range. 2017 Jetta 1.4T here, a little intake mods and a stage 1 from unitronic puts a night and day difference in live by wire throttle delay as well as a lil faster turbo spool. Not hella gains but big difference in daily driving

  • @hotskillet
    @hotskillet 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It was obvious you mis-tested the capabilities not only in the chip but the baseline runs as well.
    Baseline should have had 4 tests, drive mode traction control on then another off, then sport the same way. Then conduct each Racechip setting the same way.

    • @BackyardDude
      @BackyardDude  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, our baseline was definitely off, as we revisited in the next episode. We did make more runs that were cut from the video, but they were similar to the displayed times.

  • @THEWHITEBOY503
    @THEWHITEBOY503 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    10.4 seconds stock? That’s very interesting.. What was the outside temperature? Do you think it’s the extra weight from an automatic transmission and the SE trim stuff? I did a 0-60 on my Jetta S (Manual) a while ago, ~68F outside, and I pulled about 8.4s. After installing an AEM cold air intake, I managed to get it down to 7.8 or so. Probably because I imagine you weren’t able to do any launch techniques due to an auto box. Very interesting though!
