Not only is Todd Snider one of the funniest people alive he is also one of the most profound philosophers of the modern era.

Don, I wouldn’t worry about a Todd Snider video getting blocked. He makes his living doing shows not selling records.
I love that you took on a Todd Snider song. Been meaning to suggest one for awhile. I’m even wearing my “Beer Run” shirt that I got at one of his concerts a few years ago.
Some other great songs by him are...
    Beer Run
    I can’t complain
    Double wide blues
    Play a train song
    Long year
    Talking Seattle grunge rock blues
Ballad of the Devil’s backbone tavern
So many tunes that make you smile.

@Nunuvya Business Thanks for the info and the recs, and welcome to the channel! I'll be checking out more of Todd's stuff down the line--he's too different to ignore. :-)

Rockn2country I typed in Todd Snider reaction videos because he's one of my favorites and yours is the only video I could find. This is the first video of yours I've watched, but if you like Todd, check out Hayes Carll. It's hard to recommend just one of his, but Drunken Poets Dream is the first one that came to mind.

@Nate Scott Welcome to the channel---glad you found your way here! And yeah, Hayes is the man. Type in "Hayes" in the search bar on the channel and the ones I've done will pop up. Have fun!

RockN2Country Don I am not sure how many remember Eddie Rabbitt but in 70's 80's he was pretty big. He was born in NY but raised in NJ. He wrote Kentucky Rain for Elvis also had many hits he recorded. My fav Mountain Music, I Love A Rainy Night, Driven My Life Away and On 2nd Thought. All of you out there please inform Don of this mans greatness that remember Eddie and he passed away by far too soon.

Todd Snider has been around for a long time. He grew up in Oregon but he has been in Nashville for for the majority of his career. His debut album "Songs From the Daily Planet" was named for the bar there that he got his start in. Had a fairly big hit with "Alright Guy" and "Beer Run" gets regular play time on some stations still. His live shows are what he is known for as he is a great story teller. There is a movie coming out this fall called "Hard Luck Love Song" based on his song "Just Like Old Times." The lead character is loosely based on him as well.

"Is he wearing socks?" he dressed up for this show. He is usually barefoot. John Prine was an artist that helped give Todd his start. That's all you need to know about Todd Snider

Do more Todd! Until the shutdown of venues due to the pandemic, I used to go to his shows once or twice a year. He and REK tour all the time (until now, that is).

I’ve seen Todd play live a few times. In one show, he said that when he was a kid he wanted to be a wandering minstrel. That’s exactly what he became.

You should listen to his Bill Elliott story. Elliott was a NASCAR driver who was very popular. Snider "met" him one night after a show and his story is funny as hell.

He took the line about the percentage of statistics being made up on the spot from the comedian Steven Wright. I remember seeing Steven Wright at the Count Basie in Red Bank, NJ something like 15-18 years ago

    • @RockN2Country
      @RockN2Country  2 ปีที่แล้ว

That makes tons of sense now that you bring Steven Wright into it--that dude was hilarious and nuts! It's also cool that you were in Jersey back then. I grew up in Piscataway and am in Basking Ridge now. I haven't seen a show at the Basie, but I've passed it a few times and want to catch. one there one of these days. They renovated it some years back, so I imagine it looks really good now.

@@RockN2Country I still live in NJ I moved here just before 9/11, I currently live in a 55+ community in Lakewood. Before that by many years I went to basic training at Fort Dix. Yeah, I haven't been there in quite a while now, I think the last person I saw there was the blues singer Buddy Guy.
When I moved here in 2001, I was living in Morristown on James Street just north of you when 9/11 happened

@@RockN2Country I am sure you have some too and maybe on your quote channel you could put some favorite Steven Wright lines. A few of my favorite are:
6000 ants dressed up as rice and robbed a Chinese restaurant
The first time I read the dictionary I thought it was a poem about everything.
      Hermits have no peer pressure.

Don, please consider Todd's BLUES ON BANJO with the story about not being able to play the blues on banjo. Todd can!!!! He's so special to his fans. Shitheads in the Shithouse Choir follow him around all over the place.

If you search for Robert Earl Kean or similar artist, Todd Snider comes up.
Todd has been around a while he is always entertaining. I discoversed him on Bob and Tom radio show.
As others have said and I have too- BEER RUN is pretty good and has a great reference to REK.

Now you need to do Vinyl Records by Todd Snider. I had that recorded off the radio before I ever heard of him. Funny how many songs you know but never know who sings them. This was fun.

Todd has so many funny songs like this but when he gets serious, boy does he get serious. If you really want to get your mind blown, listen to "TV Guide." After the first time I heard that song, it haunted me.
