I like those kind of puzzles too , I used to love it when someone would bring me a laptop in a thousand pieces . Most of the time I'd have it back in one piece within a few hours !!
Good afternoon I really enjoy your videos. I have a question could you tell me what type and brand name of solder that you use on your electronic boards? I really would appreciate the answer, Mike
Yeah the port is more back left heavy here but all that matters is that the grounds for the port are soldered in and all the pins are aligned and soldered. And I mean we are talking less than .02mm off for the port alignment.
Great video and fix Steve! I have an Xbox One S that I'm going to be taking apart later today. Hopefully I can fix it. It doesn't power on at all. A family member's psychotic girlfriend submerged it in water.
@@TronicsFixLongs Well, I tried. It's one of those smaller Xbox Series S that doesn't have a disc drive. I removed the power supply and plugged it into a good outlet, then put my meter on the 2 prongs coming out where I'm supposed to be getting 12V DC but I was getting 0. I'm not sure if that means I have a bad power supply or if it won't actually get voltage until I hit the power button. Either way it's still dead. Probably will be a parts machine now.
@@gargamel3393Yep a power supply is the most likely part to go out if submerged in water. You could try ordering a replacement power supply for it, but make certain you know which console it is first as you originally said Xbox One S and then said Series S. I would hate for you to order the wrong console part if you get them mixed up.
@@GreenLeefMusic Thanks. Yeah, it's a Series S. I wrote down the part number that was on the sticker for the actual part so I should be good. I did find a lot of water damage looking gunk built up on the bottom side of the PS board but nothing a little IPA and a toothbrush couldn't take care of.
I love watching things like this before sleeping. Thank you. I do have a few questions.. this is my first video of yours I've seen. That chip you replaced. Are they readily available online. Or is that something you need to special order?
Good fix brother hard to see any console in rough shape especially a 600 big boys console I’m actually scared to see your ps5 pro fix videos (that’s called foreshadowing)
I'd like to know, what temperature do you typically set your hot air gun for the Series consoles? I work in a repair shop and these ports I've always had issues with because it seemed like it would just eat up the heat lol. Also from experience, the warped inside of the HDMI usually happens when you try to heat up the solder and end up pushing heat into the port itself melting the inside. Ask me how I know 😅
A few months back I was helping my father with some plumbing. He started to do some soldering, but first he put flux on the pipe, and he said "So, what the flux does is..." and I interrupted him and said "Yeah, the flux helps the solder flow." He was like "How do you...." I said "I watch TH-cam repair videos. I know what''s up."
Steve, you've got to do a secondary video set. Something like you show us a defective circuit board and give us like 30 seconds to determine what is wrong with it before you reveal the answer. You can call it "What the flux ?!"
I think I would have cleaned off the old solder from the pads - simply because you have no way of knowing what alloy it was - and it could well be some strange mixture of the original RoHS solder used to assemble the board and SnPb. Those sort of mixtures often have pretty poor soldering characteristics.
No entiendo porque la gente daña tanto los puertos HDMI dé estás consolas tengo más dé 2 años con ps5 xbox series x y desde 2017 con Nintendo swictch,y mís puertos están como nuevos
WUT?! Why the heck didnt they just put it all back inside the case?! Not to be mean but had you given this to me and told me someone tried to fix it and failed, looking at this packing job I would not be the least bit surprised. Just put it all back in the case and ship it, why leave it all out and exposed like that to potentially get more damaged in shipping?! This is making my head hurt its so dumb.
Hello good day everyone I am asking for some help I am going thru some hard times and would if anyone could help me out 🙏 would be appreciated even a job opportunity would be great
i can not imagine spending the money we spend on these consoles and then treat them this way. That case is a disaster
That is one abused XBox and the owner doesn,t deserve it.
I like those kind of puzzles too , I used to love it when someone would bring me a laptop in a thousand pieces . Most of the time I'd have it back in one piece within a few hours !!
Nice job Steve, visual checks always help not miss things before during and after repair
I love watching your videos after I get home from work. Keep it up! 👍

I believe is kester. Is in the amazon link that he shares.
Is it me did that port not look straight
I don't understand why he always does those ports from underneath. Flip the board over and see what you're doing.
At first not fully, but later the pins seemed to be in place. Stellar job anyways!

That port definitely voted for Haris
@galvanizedgnome Stupid place to inject your politics. Imagime being this consumed by this nonsense. Go outside and enjoy life man.
Good, clean repair!👍👍
You are a genius bro love your channel ❤️
Minor nit - at 17:44 the solder on the mounting pin seems dull and rough rather than shiny and smooth. I think this could have used a reflow.
You’ve gotten me into fixing goods and doing tear downs for stuff! (Without soldering iron use…. Yet) keep up the videos dude!
Great video and fix Steve! I have an Xbox One S that I'm going to be taking apart later today. Hopefully I can fix it. It doesn't power on at all. A family member's psychotic girlfriend submerged it in water.
Oh man, hope you can get it working again!

Oftentimes if there's a console that can't be repaired, he saves it just in case he can salvage the working parts for situations like this
How do Xbox's end up like this? I got my Xbox Series X on launch and keep it clean and well vententalted and haven't had a issue.

My friend, it seems that you are not well 😢 I wish you a speedy recovery 🤲
This port wasn't properly aligned. He is clearly twisted...

I know you have advanced in your treatments, but it is always a treat to see "Skinhead Steve" in videos.
that kind of heat sink damage can occure when it is thrown against a hard suface like a wall at high velocity, possibly in frustration.
Wondering if you've seen The coder's advice on port change - to not use a nozzle on the heat gun and if that just hasn't worked for you?
Hey steve, the digital microscope on afflite link look different than the one you are using,
I will suggest you to start using low melting solder it’s a magic. It’s good for such a job.
I wonder if the fact it was screwed down so tight and it caused a vacuum??
Good work
Is this channel also run by TronicFix main channel?
Yes, this is just our secondary channel for longer content
I think using low melt solder will ease the removing of the HDMI port
Another day in paradise.
Just a guess, but I reckon they dropped the heatsink onto the board
How can you spend $500.00 and literally take care of it so poorly it looks like it fell out of the sky?! 😂
I always use plumbers flux and wood iron
Sei un Genio

The packaging makes me want to scream
That por.t is definitely crooked
some assembly required
This has to be the work of a terrorist! there's just no other explanation.
Bypass the booster. No booster no problem. No cap no short
XBOX SERIES X POWERFUL CONSOLE
Hi I like watching your videos I am if you would be interested in some old cell phones that I have
Please if you are going to do an extended tell us on the short so I don't watch duplicated video.
Second 💯
