My search was so tenacious i was certain if he got hit I'd at least find a trace or word of his death ... but no Tsunami Nearly 3 months had gone by and my hope was waning but still I'd make my regular loop, if only to delude myself for one more day. It was a Saturday after half day of work, I parked my truck at my home and set out on my route, when 2 blocks down and around 2 corners I came upon that old woman's house the one with the front yard flower-filled just as she was tending her garden. We talked about her flowers and plants and what a lovely day while she clipped buds and pulled weeds when suddenly looking about, I could not believe my eyes... there thru the picture window was Tsunami sprawled across the back of her couch, asleep in the sun. I'd recognize him anywhere by the face and that coat My heart skipped a beat but I held back saying only, That's a real nice looking kitty you have there... what's his name? She said, Oh yes that's Jasper, my husband's name, we were together nearly 50 years, and he showed up a month to the day since Jasper died. He's my husband come back to me... I kno because he never leaves the sight of me. I'm so lucky he came. I was so terribly lonely before then. He gives me everything to live for, I didn't know what to do with the rest of my life before he came to me. With that I gave her a hug and said, I'm so sorry about your loss but I kno Jasper is lucky to have found his way to you. It's clear you are both well-loved and meant for each other God bless you and have a wonderful day. As I walked away I turned to look in time to see her inside stroking Tsunami's fur, she lovingly smiling at him... he pushing against her hand, his eyes squinted shut They do not belong to us. The Animal Spirits know which go to who, and I was just fostering him, allowing him to bloom until his determined place was ready for him. I envision the call he received telling him it was time to leave and always wondered if, at the end of the path, he paused to give a look back - one final time To this day my heart aches and is lifted all in one.
@@supremeleaderoofpoof You're welcome. When I was a boy, the abuse visited upon me was such I had no goal but to have lived a full life by the time I was old. I just came back from a trip to Istanbul. It was my first time leaving the country and I was shocked by how many outdoor cats there were! But every single one of them were so well-fed, housed in outdoor cat homes, and taken care of. Though these cats belonged to no one. It was amazing to see how the community adopted them as their animals and cared for them. It was amazing to see everyone collectively caring for all the outdoor animals
The Turkish people love animals. They leave food and water out for strays and those passing by. I wish there were more people like them because in other countries, animals are treated like garbage. There is a video on TH-cam of a cat in Turkey visiting a symphony as they were about to perform. The musicians and the audience absolutely loved it.
I laughed so hard watching this because I just rescued two abandoned kittens as well and also had to keep them in the bathroom. One of them would become my shoulderbuddy too. He just would climb me all the time and lick my face and chew my ears. Great video!
@@NeuronalAxon The other one, a girl was a bit calmer and more cautious. Also she was adopted right away. I took them to a vet and a friend of the vets assistant was looking for a kitten to adopt. So I had a little bit more time to spend with my shoulderbuddy alone until he was adopted too.
the last clip of sonny grooming sal along with “it’s okay to be sad when you say goodbye, it’s okay to cry” just wrecked me. thank you for all you do xx
That distress cry is so heartbreaking. It's amazing how Sonny was in a good place already but he was still worried about the ones left behind. Makes me wonder if there were still others in their litter left out there 😢
@@mjchenevertful Agree with you both - the little ones and mama that got left behind. The thought is heartbreaking. That tiny little meow is like a baby crying "Mommy." Hopefully someone else found and fostered them.
The only thing better than adopting a rescue kitten is to adopt rescue kitten siblings. My wife and I have had an horrendous year on top of everything in the world at the moment, including losing our 22 year old ginger Tom. Our kittens have been our only bright point and nothing beats watching the two of them grow together.
Warms the Cockles of the Heart, to Know that there are People who Care Enough For the Fur Babies, to Foster them, to Adopt them, + Guys Like You Two who have Loving, Open Hearts. God Bless You All.
This video has a very important message about fostering cats, or any animal really. Fostering isn't about the person, it's about caring for an animal until they can be given a home where they're loved. There's nothing wrong with feeling sad about having to let the animal go. Something like that is going to be difficult but you're giving that animal a forever home where they'll be loved to the fullest. Where they can be given full attention and love. Letting go of a foster animal will be hard, but at the very least you'll know that because of you, you gave that animal a completely new life.
Im 16, my parents dont allow me to adopt a cat for some reason. Or any other pets. I live in Singapore, there is a cat under the block. I always feed it and take care of it. I hope when i have my own apartment, i can bring it home with me. But its gonna take time and im not sure if the cat is gonna last. Idk how old she is. Pray for me :")
Do the best you can. Don't blame yourself. Check on FB and see if there is a cat rescue organization in your community. Perhaps someone else can help you.
To understand that a crying kitten cries not just because he's scared or something, but because he lost his brother and separated, - this requires a good amount of empathy to assume that. And some luck to actually find his brother. Wonderful story.
@Ami From Texas BEAR Such a beautiful human being you are. Thank you so much. That part when you said you bottle feed him, touched me. Thank you so much
Thanks for your comments, "it's about them", and about giving perfect cats up. I'm a new foster mom (momma and her 4 babies), of almost three weeks, and I'm already grappling with that. Struggling even with some guilt - as if I'll be abandoning the momma, especially after giving her so much love and affection. This video is timely and I'll watch it again when its time to let go.
Letting them go is bittersweet, but it does get easier. As Kitten Lady says, the goal is goodbye. I think of fostering as a safe place to land before they go to their forever homes. My job is to give them love and socializing and a few house rules. I give them pep talks when it's time for them to go: "I've raised you up and it's time for you to find your forever home now. You're going to have a whole new family who will love you forever, and I want you to be the amazing kitty I raised you up to be, okay? You're not just a pet; you have a mission: to go out in the world and be an ambassador for all the animals still looking for their families."
Just beautiful! I'm currently fostering, the kitten chose me, I didn't exactly go looking or trapping. She just started sleeping by my backdoor. I had to help her, she chose me for a reason 💕
SImiliar to how my cat "Random" aquired me. I drive truck for a living. I had parked at a truck stop to use the bathroom. When I came back to my truck there was a torn up white and grey adult cat sitting on my fuel tank step screaming at me, as if how dare I not leave the open for him to let himself in. That was two years ago, he's been with me in the truck since. He's by far the most vocal and affectionate cat I've ever had and is incredibly attached to me. To this day I have no idea why he was outside, and I don't want to know. He's in bed when I sleep, on the floor beside me while I drive, and always lays where he can open his eyes and see me. When I get fuel or have to go in to a customer he hops up on the front seat or dash and watches me either thru the windshield or in the side mirrors as I walk towards the back of the truck. He's a very good boy. He was just some random cat a truck stop. I didnt intent on keeping him, now I cant imagine not having him.
It's always an honor to be chosen by a cat 💜 That's how I got my kitty Mia, she just walked in the back door one day, meowed for food, and that was that lol
My Sidney was a rather large cat who used to hang around my neck. He'd often stick his mouth and nose right into my ear. He's sniff around and lick the inside of my ear - it's was hilarious and it tickled like crazy. He'd do the same thing to my eye - I'd have to close it quickly, of course! We were so close. It's been more than 25 years since I lost him and I still love and miss him.
Thank you so much for rescuing such a gorgeous being. I did the same a week ago. I found an injured cat on the street. Whose leg was severely injured to a point that it got maggots on it. I posted the whole video of him, before and after, on TH-cam. And it's people like you who have inspired me to do the same. Thank you so much again ♥️
@@geekthegirl6961 Awe Thank you so much. And that's the least I could for him. He has started showing his true nature now and is on mating mode. So he meows as loud as he can and I couldn't sleep because of it lol. Once he gets fully recovered, I'll try to neuter him insha'Allah
I foster cats (mostly unsocialised kittens) and I was afraid it would be hard to say goodbye. I want to say to people thinking about fostering: I haven't found it to be too difficult. In fact, a part of me is always happy because I know I've helped them get ready for their forever home. Without me they wouldn't have learned to live with humans, recovered from illnesses, had someone to advocate for them and be their voice - and this is an honour and a delightful, meaningful volunteer action you can do.
This has got to be the BEST channel on TH-cam. Sweet, informative, compelling, heart-rending. I love the voiceover, I love the calming music, and the cats and kittens are BEYOND precious. Thank you so much for what you do to heal even the tiniest part of this broken world. ❤️❤️
- I’m of the same opinion, Elizabeth! I love this channel and tell everyone about it. I also, appreciate the calming music and gentle yet informative, voice. I’m so impressed with the excellent photography ... the many angles and closeups - I almost feel I have a cat again. Oftentimes, I find my finger stroking a cat’s nose on the iPad ... lol! 🇨🇦
On god, thank you for humanizing these cats. The more people that see these are living, thinking, and feeling creatures the less likely they'll be to abandon them when they're too loud or too playful or just too hairy or big to be convenient.
I love this channel so much. I always cry during these videos. My boyfriend sees the look on my face and says: you are watching the cat rescue videos, aren't you?
I’m so glad you talked about people saying they’d never be able to foster. It really isn’t about fosters, it’s about the lives we save. It’s heartbreaking to me how we don’t realise how being afraid of heartbreak (for the best reason, an adoption!) is a disservice to animals in need. I’ve fostered and let go. It was so hard. I’m still here, though. When I get the chance I’ll do it all again, for them.
Hands down the best story telling I have seen in a long time. It’s hard to describe that feeling I get when I watch your videos. If I were to give it a shot it would be like the happy feeling of watching and reliving the best parts of your life with the ones you love. It inspires me to make more great memories by doing something and helping out. I look forward to the next story!
I have a family of four ferals. One looks very much like Sonny, his name is "Tiger". He is a mackerel tabby/tuxedo cat, about 5-1/2 now. He lives here with his mom, Patches (black/white tuxedo), sister Booties (black/white tuxedo) and brother, Blacky (all black). They have lived with me since Tiger, Booties and Blacky were about three months old and they were still nursing at the time. About 1-1/2 years ago, Tabby came along. He is a spotted tabby, and all tabby, like Sal. He was about 6 months old when he came in. I saw his mom being mean to him, so I caught him. Tiger and Tabby quickly became buddies. They have even slept in a box together. So...I have five ferals living with me now. And...they LOVE it!
I'd just like to take a moment and thank you for these wonderfully edited videos. Your music choice especially makes it feel more naturally than other rescue videos. I hate to say it but a lot of other videos have a tendency to put in "emotional" music that leaves me uncomfortable because it feels manipulative. I appreciate that you don't do that. I also love how you also educate the viewer while also not being preachy about it. Most other videos either don't do that at all or throw too much at you. Thanks for improving not just your own community but helping others to improve their communities as well.
2:14 "the minute we brought him in Sonny stopped crying " yeah and I started :). Your philosophy on fostering is brilliant and so inspirational. Thank you
have a cat that would sit on my shoulder, in fact as she got older she would drape her body around the back of my neck like a scarf and just lay there with her head on my shoulder sleeping.
Cats are motivated by food ...... yup, me too. Sonny and his brother are absolutely adorable. I'd have them in a heartbeat, if I didn't live in the UK and have severe lung disease. I hope they can be rehomed together. What humane souls you and your partner have.
It took two years to build trust with a stray cat. I fed him wet food twice a day but he would never let me touch him. Last month, he fell in love with me. Now, he wants to be cuddled before eating. I was able to put a flee collar on him. That was really hard. Great video!
You are your wife are miracles for all of the lost, rejected, lonely, unwanted, hungry cats and kittens out there. We need more people like you two. You're making a difference, having an impact on the world. If only they're were more people like you two. What a much better place this would be to live. I love you both so much. And all of the beautiful souls you rescue and give another chance at life for.😊🌎🙏💖😺🌺✌🍀
FlashyHippie it can also hurt a lot but you love them so you let them do it 😂 I had fostered a kitten till he was 8 months old so he was getting heavy and still climbed onto me like I was a scratch post and it would hurt like crazy when a claw would get stuck in my skin or something but then he would give me kisses like “I know that hurt but I give kisses so it’s ok “
I developed a shoulder cat when I was fostering a kitten who kept climbing me. He figured out I wouldn't eject him if he got on my shoulder from the couch and not up my leg.
this reminds me of my kitten Storm, she was abandoned by her mom and fostered for 3 weeks until we adopted her and gave her the forever home she deserves 🤍

Nearly 3 months had gone by and my hope was waning but still I'd make my regular loop, if only to delude myself for one more day.
I'd recognize him anywhere by the face and that coat
My heart skipped a beat but I held back saying only, That's a real nice looking kitty you have there... what's his name?
She said, Oh yes that's Jasper, my husband's name, we were together nearly 50 years, and he showed up a month to the day since Jasper died. He's my husband come back to me... I kno because he never leaves the sight of me. I'm so lucky he came.
I was so terribly lonely before then. He gives me everything to live for, I didn't know what to do with the rest of my life before he came to me.
With that I gave her a hug and said, I'm so sorry about your loss but I kno Jasper is lucky to have found his way to you. It's clear you are both well-loved and meant for each other
God bless you and have a wonderful day.
As I walked away I turned to look in time to see her inside stroking Tsunami's fur, she lovingly smiling at him... he pushing against her hand, his eyes squinted shut
They do not belong to us. The Animal Spirits know which go to who, and I was just fostering him, allowing him to bloom until his determined place was ready for him.
I envision the call he received telling him it was time to leave and always wondered if, at the end of the path, he paused to give a look back - one final time
To this day my heart aches and is lifted all in one.

You're welcome. When I was a boy, the abuse visited upon me was such I had no goal but to have lived a full life by the time I was old.
Up and down from my own home, a wife and always at least 2 cats in the yard... to broke brokedown and homeless, parked under a bridge sleeping in my car.

“It’s not about US.” Words to live by.
There's a wonderful documentary about the cats of Istanbul called "Kedi".
How Fantastic, to Know that this Exists! Do they Spay/Neuter any of the Cats? Do they Let people Adopt, So the Cats can hva Furever Home.
that’s beautiful
I've watched several Turkish tv series on Netflix and every single one filmed outdoors, you'll see these free roaming cats. Just fascinating!
Your love and care carries them through to their forever home and these sweet kitties will keep you in their hearts as they love and are loved. 🙏
I love the look of absolute contentment on the faces of these kittens when they're being skritched.
I laughed so hard watching this because I just rescued two abandoned kittens as well and also had to keep them in the bathroom. One of them would become my shoulderbuddy too. He just would climb me all the time and lick my face and chew my ears. Great video!
What about the other one? 🤔
My bathroom would be the only room I could utilize, my Tabby doesn't like company and I live in a studio apt.
@@veritasinvicta8128 If you have other cats in your apt a bathroom is pretty much the best place for rescued kittens.
@@ninelives2418 Yes, if I found kittens I would bring them in, but full grown strays is much harder.

That distress cry is so heartbreaking. It's amazing how Sonny was in a good place already but he was still worried about the ones left behind. Makes me wonder if there were still others in their litter left out there 😢

❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰 I agree
What a kind heart you have

To understand that a crying kitten cries not just because he's scared or something, but because he lost his brother and separated, - this requires a good amount of empathy to assume that. And some luck to actually find his brother. Wonderful story.
such a sweet lil pair of fuzzy buddies! Thank you for helping them (and all the others).
Thank you for rescuing him. I'm a not so crazy cat lady in Southern California. I have 12 rescues. A combination from shelters and the streets.

Do the best you can, Jill and kudos for taking on this role.
K Yes, Same here!
Sonny and Sal - very good Brooklyn names!
@@mdkern0438 what a beautiful story. You rescued each other. He sounds like a great kitty.
It's always an honor to be chosen by a cat 💜 That's how I got my kitty Mia, she just walked in the back door one day, meowed for food, and that was that lol
This is my 2nd or 3rd time watching. @Flatbush Cats are THE BEST!
Don't forget how valuable the positive socialization is, for every foster.
Great memory....lost my cat over 30 years ago....still miss her

Thank you so much for rescuing such a gorgeous being. I did the same a week ago. I found an injured cat on the street. Whose leg was severely injured to a point that it got maggots on it.

I love that phrase- 'kitten of the month club.'
Awww he's smiling 🥺🥺

I'd just like to take a moment and thank you for these wonderfully edited videos. Your music choice especially makes it feel more naturally than other rescue videos. I hate to say it but a lot of other videos have a tendency to put in "emotional" music that leaves me uncomfortable because it feels manipulative. I appreciate that you don't do that.
I also love how you also educate the viewer while also not being preachy about it. Most other videos either don't do that at all or throw too much at you.
Thanks for improving not just your own community but helping others to improve their communities as well.

I've heard of shoulder cats before... However, I have yet to experience it. It looks silly but cute at the same time.
I had a cat who as kitten would introduce herself by climbing on the shoulders of house guests.
It's a great feeling
