    The guinea pig is totally stressed out. Getting licked at the ears and eyes is a sign of dominance for the gp, it is like getting padded on the hair by a stranger on the street. The gp reacts really cool.

    • @latonyanewsome0

      It's not a sign of dominance, it's grooming actually. But I will agree the piggy was stressed out. Teeth chattering is a huge sign of stress.

    • @TalkCafe
      @TalkCafe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +92

      Actually, no.
      Guinea pigs stay with their moms for 2 months.
      After 2-3 days they can eat the same food as the adults, but they still drink milk as their main food supply. And in great need to be close to their mom.
      Just like this baby capybara, that's why he tries to snuggle the piggie, he misses his mom.

      They have a gestation period of about 130 to 150 days and usually produce a litter of four. Newborn Capybaras will join the rest of the group as soon as they are mobile. Within a week, the offspring can eat grass

    At what age do capybara become independent from their mothers in the wild?

    • @caplincapybara
      @caplincapybara  9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      In the wild they stay with their herd until at least six months, females longer. All the females in a herd will nurse any of the babies.

      they are related but no guinea pigs are not domesticated capybaras. They aren't sure which small South American rodent(s) they came from. Wikipedia has some info here. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinea_pig#Natural_habitat

    • @droolingfangirl
      @droolingfangirl 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awww aren't you precious. You just felt the need to what, siddle on in and snipe at me for daring to link to wikipedia? I am well aware that the site has issues, but generally it works for something casual like this. It's not as if I'm trying to cite in a scientific paper. Now, if you had actually taken the time to link to a better site and phrased it politely such as, "I find that Wikipedia has issues with information hygiene this site has better information about that" with links provided, then I would have agreed with you and probably thought, hey that person knows their stuff, given my thanks, respected you. Or hell even just "here's some better info on that than you can find on wikipedia." But as things stand, go away and bother someone else.
